This place is not bad at all! Indian chipotle… pick your carbs(rice, etc), pick a meat(tandoori chicken), pick a sauce(masala), and add toppings(cilantro, green sauce, and chili). It cost around ~8(depending on the protein you pick). Portion was just right, decent amount to be satisfied. Friendly service! Plenty of space to sit! Located next to Bain’s deli(past Loma) on market street.

If you haven’t eaten here you should! The food is really good and it’s fast too. It’s very clean inside, and the staff, especially the owner/manager is very polite and friendly. Keep it up Zaikka!

First things first, let’s not call this place an Indian Chipotle equivalent. There are many differences and most of those make this s terrible place to eat at: 1. What’s up with the tiny portion sizes — you start to doubt the intentions of the restaurant when they serve you four chickpeas(from chickpea curry), 3 pieces of paneer, half a spoonful of curry(in such small quantity they should call it sauce instead), and half a bite of everything else. Their bowl may give you the impression of a chipotle bowl but it is quite shallow and only half filled with food. Chipotle, a place I frequent enough to know this, fills you up with food for 8 – 9 bucks. Zaika’s bowl costs around the same and is only about half the food. Their margins must be astronomically high. I’d be an investor but not s customer. 2. Indian food is flavorful and tastier than what they serve here. Maybe it’s because of only half a spoonful of curry that I don’t taste the Indian spices/flavors. Nah, I’m kidding, everything here is very bland and lacking in flavor. Chipotle’s food is much more flavorful by comparison. 3. Serving a side of $ 1.75 naan bread on the side of a $ 9 rice bowl makes little sense unless you want more bland to go on the side of bland mess that is the rice bowl. All things said, I’m not coming back here unless they increase their portion sizes. When I go to a restaurant, I want to taste the food and I want to feel that they want me to enjoy their food. When they serve me in a stingy fashion(read 4 chickpeas, 3 paneer cubes), I doubt their intentions. Let’s see how long they can keep in business like this. On second thoughts, I wouldn’t be an investor here either.

We just left after our first visit and we feel taken advantage of. My parents asked if they could have channa with their Tandoori chicken. They were given it in a small sauce cup alongside their order. We expected there to be an extra charge but were a bit floored when our total came up to forty five dollars for three rice bowls and two sodas. The two sauce cups of channa were charged as full orders and cost us almost fifteen dollars. Unfortunately my parents were not made aware that asking for the channa would mean being charged for another full order. I could somewhat understand charging eight dollars if they were given enough for a single order but they weren’t even given enough for even half. Even then according to the menu, doubling your protein shouldn’t cost more than three dollars. The food wasn’t bad but the sour taste of what feels like dishonest business practices will linger for a long time. I don’t believe we will be coming back.

I am usually not the picky. But the food here is terribly bad. I have never had this bad Aloo Tikki Chat ever in my life. Their curry and protein was equally bad :( Very disappointed!

Cheap, quick, delicious Gotta take it for what it is. This is not gourmet Indian food by any means and it’s not trying to be. This place is great if you have a craving for Indian food, want something affordable and have limited time.

This place is pretty lame if you are used to actual indian food. It costs the same amount of money for a small meal here, as it does for a full, hot, freshly cooked meal at an indian restaurant. The portions are tiny, I was not satisfied with what i was given at all, It lacked flavor, and the amount you get is a joke. I only weigh 130 lbs and it felt like half a meal to me. Its a nice idea, to have an indian restaurant on market street. But honestly this place is a crazy waste of your money, go to india grille, or some other real indian restaurant, there are plenty of options. I will say, if you are in a pinch, the food is absolutely edible, and really not all that bad. Its like some decent food you would find at the airport, with silly high prices for very small portions. But at the airport you would expect that, on market street… not so much.

Great service, but fast food south Indian food is not for me! Reminded me of Chipotle in the way it was set up. I went toward the close of the day, so it was a little rough. Older dried out rice, and there was a thin film over all the sauces, as it looks like they stood stagnant for a while. I gave it a shot though! It was flavorful, but the samosa I ordered(sitting under the hot lamp) had the texture as if it was sitting under that same hot lamp for 3 days. They should implement some sort of «samosa” rule, and swap them bad boys out every 29 minutes or so… just my thoughts! I would never go again.

Indian fast food? No, thank you! I was excited to try this place because the concept is cool(similar to Qdoba or Chipotle) and the price is cheaper compared to classic Indian restaurants, but it tastes TERRIBLE! Watery sauces that are spicy but have no flavor and they give you the smallest portions of chicken I’ve ever seen! Now I need REAL Indian food to make up for this mistake.

This is a great lunch spot. Staff is friendly and the place is clean. Its the indian version of a Chipotle/Qdoba and it does taste quite good. Its definitely worth a try if you are in the area.

Terrible food. First off… The meal starts of at 9 $ and that doesn’t even do Justice to the Quantity served. Went in ordered a lamb and naan bread extra meat. So the break down, the basic price was 8.95 and too less a quanitity. extra meat 2.95, Extra naan 1.50, So called Raita a hot sauce quanity container 1 $ total went up to 15 $. Secondly, This is coming from an indian who worked in DC and often dined at MERZI, that is a perfect example of a sumptious Chiportle style Indian meal and value for money, being in DC they are so Reasonable Compared to the Cost of living there. Thirdly the taste, YUCK! Bland, half coocked meat and the chutnies are Extreme. Do yourself a favor SKIPTHISPLACEATALLTIMES! there are better out there.

Nice place, and Vegan friendly. The staff was great and pointed me to the Vegan choices very easily. Flavors are amazing, and really fast to get lunch. I am going back!

I agree with the reviewers that referred to this place as the Indian food equivalent to Chipotle. This restaurant is a nice addition to Wilmington’s Loma section. The first step in ordering is deciding if you want a rice bowl, naan roll, or salad greens. I always go with the rice bowl. Next, you have to choose a protein. I won’t bore you with the various protein options they have, but I do want to point out that there are a couple of vegan protein options. I usually order the Zaikka chicken, which the server said is spicy, but I didn’t find it spicy. There are several Indian inspired sauces to choose as your condiments. The last things to decide on are the toppings: masala chickpea, cilantro, red onions, etc. I was glad to see that they have mango lassie. It’s a little small for the price. The place is very clean, and the food along with service is good. Parking at times can be a little tricky. I’m glad to put this place into my lunch/dinner rotation.

I eat here regularly(three times a week)! I love it! I enjoy the choices of Indian food and the casualness of the restaurant. Its clean and very efficient! The prices are under 10 $ for almost everything and you get alot of food. The style of the restaurant is basically an Indian MOEs, you select everything from sauce to meats to toppings and build your meal.

Fantastically Fresh healthy food and great personable staff. My favorite part of Indian food is the flavor, which this place has nailed. My second favorite thing in Indian food is the cream which was naught to be found. I will say I enjoy the mouthfeel of full creamy goodness, but that would have me in the grave within a few years. This place is one that the epicurean and the dietician will appreciate. Though if you’re like me you’ll feel they’re a tad stingy with the meat, I never leave there feeling hungry or dissatisfied, so they know what they’re doing, no need to double down on the meat(as I would normally do). Delicious food, great flavor, without the heart palpatations. Two thumbs way up.

Yes, the place has this cool concept of being a Chipotle serve style. But NOWAYDOESITWORKFORSOUTHASIANFOOD. South Asian food flavor comes from having the spices, roots, vegetables and or meat cooked together so the flavor infuse each other. By separating the ingredients you loose many subtle and underlaying flavors that make Indian food special. This is probably why many of the reviews describe the food as spicy versus being flavorful and authentic Indian food. It tastes like boiled rice with cream, red chili, and cilantro at the end. The meat was not fresh and bland. I gave this place two tries and both time it was a fail. The one strong point about this place is that it is clean. The restrooms are clean and are for customers only. The décor is modern, fresh, and trendy. I guess it is a good place to take a wannabe Hare Krishna hippy or Wannabe Bollywood junky that has never had real Indian food.

I enjoy coming here it’s the chipotle of Indian fast food. The place is very clean and modern with plenty of seating area. I enjoy coming here to pick up samosa and a mango lassie. The food is good quality. The owner is very friendly. The staff is always super friendly as well. I think this place is a wonderful addition to downtown Wilmington. The last thing we need is another donut shop or hoagie place.

A refreshing, modern take on Indian food. The samosas were light, and not greasy, as so many are. The Zaikka chicken was fantastic, spicy but flavorful.
