Waterway Lodge Hotel

I blame myself, we waited until the last minute to decide that we wanted to make a trip to the beach on memorial day weekend. Everywhere was sold out, so we thought we got «lucky» when we were able to get a room here. While checking in my husband glanced at the vendor check in binder on the front desk, and it showed 5 recent check ins from a pest control company.
We checked into our room and were absolutely disgusted at what we found. I get that the property is dated-that’s fine, but it was filthy. The bathroom still had the previous tenant’s hair in every corner. Black mold was prevalent in most corners of the bathroom floor. Mold in EVERY single grout line of the shower, moldy faucet and shower head. We did not take our flip flops off the entire time.
This place needs to be cleaned or shut down. Save your money!

On a crowded Memorial Day weekend, I was able to find a room here. The room was nothing special but provided a roof over my head. They have a HORRIBLE policy of allowing only one car parking in their lot, so if you are splitting a room with some friends and happened to drive separately, you’ll be forced to park the excess cars elsewhere at your own expense/​risk.
The room was exactly what I would’ve expected for a last-​minute booking on a holiday weekend: clean (enough) with very limited space.
If you have a choice, stay elsewhere. If you don’t, well… the Waterway will do.

Dog friendly!
One of the few dog friendly places to stay. Great location and nice view overlooking the intercostal waterway. This is no Four Seasons but the price is right and my pup is happy.
No doggie odors and a clean room make this my go to spot when I am in town.

Individually-​owned motel rooms make for spotty service, i.e., no coffee, office opened late, no in-​room amenities, no extras. But — great, off-​island location with views of the waterway and across the street from great places to eat or enjoy cocktails. If you’re traveling with pets, be advised they’ll fine you if they know the pets have been on beds (again, I think because you’re renting from private owners.) Great value for the price!
