Awful awful dermatologist, both Mr and Mrs Thew. To begin with it is nearly impossible to get an appointment, it takes months. When you finally get into the office the receptionists… well to put it gently they are bitchy. Even if you get there at your appointment time there is a high chance that you will wait for a while in the waiting room and then again once you actually make it to a treatment room.
Dr Thew (Mr) is an old British man who is absolutely set in his ways and in my opinion not that knowledgable about dermatology. I saw him for topical acne for years and years growing up and went through a huge cycle of antibiotics, topical treatments, creams, pills, shampoos, etc and never had much success. I finally started seeing another dermatologist to get another opinion and they immediately recommended accutane. They told me that any derm should know that after trying a number of treatments that accutane is the go to solution. I agreed to start accutane and went back to Thew one more time to ask him why he never recommended it, and he told me that his office didn’t prescribe accutane for liability reasons. So basically he strung me on for years and didn’t put me on a medication that could help me to continue to make money off of me. If I was actually afflicted with something that wasn’t as benign as acne I would sue his ass for mal practice. I will never ever go to Dr thew again. I would go to see webster or rosenthal as both are much better derms all around.
