I wasn’t crazy about my dining experience here but nothing really wrong either. This place is like an American tapas concept with small plates for sharing. A friend and I shared several plates as suggested by our server. The one that was very good was the vegan phở. Some vegetarian options which is a plus.

Outstanding dining. Clean(white glove dining room) with impeccable service and attention to detail. Food is created by a chef who cares about taste and presentation. Breakfast(Westin eggs benedict), Lunch(caesar salad, fried chicken, panini, fries, etc.) and Dinner are consistently EXCELLENT. Cocktails are created to perfection. The shuttle service is always an enjoyable ride too. I would definitely recommend dining and an overnight(HEAVENLY) stay with the Westin. The Westin knows how to PLEASE its guests.

I ordered the NY strip!!! Not your traditional strip. Looks more like a sirloin or filet. It was ordered med rare came out DONE! They apologized and chef Dave made it right! Picked up the 2nd steak I didn’t ask for it, wasn’t trying to get it. Bartender Tiani was good as well. Very polite and chilled my red wine glass.

River Rock Kitchen offers an array of interesting eats at manageable prices. Went here recently during a business trip. I had the chicken panini with white cheddar and tomato, accompanied by an arugula salad and an apple pumpkin bisque. The sandwich itself was disappointing, with soggy bread and chicken breast that was borderline rubbery. However, the salad was fresh, and the soup was exceptionally good. The seeds sprinkled atop the bisque lent a distinctive salty taste and crisp texture to the its mildly sweet and hearty base. I certainly plan to try more menu items at River Rock, but I’ll be avoiding that panini with a sure plan of soup and salad as my sides.

I visited for lunch during Brandywine Restaurant Week. Great atmosphere and setting tucked away in the Westin hotel. The special was a two-course lunch for $ 15. The waitress did not really explain the menu or offer any recommendations. Service was fairly slow in general given that my friend and I were one of two tables there at the time. I ordered the mac and cheese and the fried chicken. The Mac and cheese was very good and plated beautifully. I enjoyed the flavor but would have liked a little more crunch to the dish. The fried chicken was moist but tasted a bit burnt. It had a hint of some kind of Asian seasoning to it which was unexpected but nice. It came on a plate of mashed potatoes and green beans. The mashed potatoes were a bit too runny for my taste and the green beans were unfortunately almost raw. The playing was nice. Although I was a little confused by the green liquid that surrounded the plate. It seemed to be butter with food coloring, but I’m not sure. Overall the menu seemed very forward thinking and bold which I like at restaurants. The dishes I had just needed to be executed a bit differently. I would visit again for dinner or possibly a date night.

been here a few times. love the variety with tapas. this is american tapas though — great for ppl like my bf who wouldn’t try anything ‘weird’, but don’t expect spanish food here: P to me the highlight of this place are their salads. i had the local flower salad and the kale salad. i want the chef’s recipe for whatever dressing they put on their salads! the grilled cheese is awesome too. possibly the best we’ve had, and we can’t for the life of us guess what was their secret(the toast had a hint of sweetness, not sure if it’s some kind of spice or just the bread/cheese, but it was just different from all the other grilled cheese we’ve had) boyfriend really loved bacon wrapped buffalo wings. also had their brisket and ny strip. both very well made. thought i’d say the grilled cheese is probably the best value, with a generous side of truffle fries. very nice ambiance, great place for anniversaries/special occasions. kinda wish they have a better tea selection(is it weird i wished they have mighty leaf rather than tazo tea?) — not gonna knock a star off for that though. this is better than my average 4-star places.

River Rock is located in the Westin hotel near the Blue Rocks stadium and also a planet fitness(which for the small plate size portions, you can probably skip the gym). If you are really hungry and your watching your wallet, you might want to try this place another time. My husband and I were the only guests for dinner. They seated us near the kitchen, so i could see and hear everything the staff did or said. Kinda a bummer since we were the only guests, and you had all these vacant tables available. Our server explained the menu and told us they specialize in small plates(that was nice to know upfront). Service was decent. –The asiago cheese bread came out warm and the olive oil was flavorful. –Our Pan seared scallops came out first! Sigh, for 17 dollars, you get TWO scallops, now that’s just sad. I can think of alot of entrées i can buy for 17 bucks. They were delicious, but we felt cheated. At least put 1 more on the plate. –Strawberry and Burrata Salad– gorgeous plating with fresh strawberries, beets, and a good portion of burrata cheese. –Crab Spring Rolls-the crispy noodles were junk. Great flavor from the crab, veggies, and the best part of the plate was the drizzle(and i mean drizzle) of the sweet and spicy chili glaze. –Last we had the house smoked briskett– it was tender, but on the dry side. It came with alot of bbq sauce so we smothered the meat with it. Green beans still had a nice crunch to them. We passed on dessert, but our bill total was about 70 bucks plus tip. It was a nice experience, but with so many other restaurants around, you kinda feel cheated with how much food you get for the price. Sadly, we stopped at another restaurant and grabbed more drinks and eventually take out.

River Rock is the type of place you’d expect in a bigger city, not a hotel lobby. They aim for a slick small plate classy fare — focusing on fresh ingredients, high end presentation and creative recipes. My experience here had a few hiccups — but they weren’t really the place’s fault. I only mention them to better inform the Unilocaler after me. This is a SMALLPLATE place. I had only glanced at the menu, and didn’t read the description first, so completely missed this. I thought, wow — these prices are unbelievable… and they were. Expect to order at least two entries per person, and probably an appetizer. This adds up, but then again, the food is totally worth it. The second is that, fresh made food takes time. We got a wonderful seat on the patio. Considering it is next to a parking lot, they did a good job at putting up some bushes to at least separate you a little from the sidewalk. It was pleasant out while we ate. When I realized my trout(delicious) was too small for dinner, I ordered the grilled cheese(also delicious), which took a while to come out(with its own mini bottle of ketchup for the fries) ordered to go. It was later in the evening, so I can’t really fault them this, so once again, order extra up front, because unlike most tapas places, adding on once you realize your hungry can take some time. The food wouldn’t be as good if it didn’t though. My date had a kale salad. This shouldn’t have been impressive — since it was fairly standard — but it was the best kale I’ve ever had. For the life of me, I can’t remember what the soup was she had with it, but she was satisfied, not being overly hungry. My trout was delicious, and finished in minutes. The grilled cheese was also done well, but I regret my decision to eat the fries first. It went from being incredible while hot, to just a regular grilled cheese as it cooled own. Don’t let the peak of these item pass you by — dig right into it. So River Rock, while a tad expensive, is a great location to swing by if you’re staying at the attached hotel, or even just in the area.

The food was very yummy and our server was adorable and efficient. I must admit I did not like the cocktail I ordered, but my boyfriend’s kamakazi was super excellent so we traded. The mac and cheese was excellent.

Decent food. Tried them while there on a business trip and the company put me up in the Westin. It would appear that the Chef that wrote the menu is a visionary and fairly bold. i like that. The food was good. I just feel that for this price point and visionary food choices, as well as the haute nature of the presentation should be coupled with better service and attentiveness. I should NOT have to ask for more water. Plus a good restaurant should NEVER let your wine glass go empty given the margin in booze. There were only 3 other business men and 2 couples in that evening. No reason for poor service.

Horrible! Mother’s Day brunch… really. This is the worst experience every I’ve had during Mother’s Day as well as a restaurant. The food was cold, the French toast was hard, the crab bisque well I don’t know what that was. So lumpy no flavor! Ugh! We had to send back all the glassware because it was filthy! It was so disorganized! The omelet station was all grease no egg! The coffee was nasty! The service was no better! When our waiter asked how everything was I stated that I’ve had better! You would’ve thought that the manger would’ve came over and inquired as to what the problem was, but nothing. Please do not eat at this restaurant. Even the guests of the hotel didn’t eat here… that’s saying something. If I could’ve gave a half star I would’ve!

A hidden gem… driving on the 95 and found this place where the food is beyond compare. Think«high end city dining» and you will be close to the experience here. We started with an IPA and mussels. They were cooked to perfection. Next, mushroom ravioli and a chicken panini that were some of our best meals of the weekend(and we just got back from NYC!) Don’t skip this place because it is off the highway in a hotel !!! Like I said a hidden gem that traveling foodies would love beyond words.

Visited one evening with friends. Food was exceptional and service was delightful. The décor was so elegant, you soon forget you’re in Delaware. Kinar and the staff were fantastic constantly making sure we were ok and made great suggestions for our indecisive party.

Best food in Wilmington. This place actually makes me feel like I’m in a normal city. Only prob: they don’t advertise. Twice, the wait staff was surprised that we were locals b/c apparently they don’t get many locals, just business travelers. Don’t let their lack of notability keep you away! I highly recommend drinks and apps or the full meal! My only complaint is that, true to Wilm., the service isn’t quite as polished as the food and atmosphere. But, I’m spoiled. I wish that the bar tenders knew more and matched the surroundings, but again – small town. But, the service is polite and attentive! The bourbon flight is the way to go. I mean, what’s there to complain about when you get a flight for $ 12. Yes, I’ll def be back for that again and again. The food: stunning! We’ve eaten here twice and both times every dish was excellent. I felt like I could actually be back in Austin or in New York. I don’t even know where to begin, but do yourself a favor and order the smaller portions so you can eat more variety! I know many people don’t «get» the small plate service, but this place actually is very fair on prices and portions. The«small» ravioli I had could have been my meal. Also, get the ravioli – the mushroom crème sauce! I’m pretty sure it had heaven in it. The duck was the second best duck dish I’ve ever had. #1 being from Foreign & Domestic(ATX). But, it was more expensive… RRK duck skin was perfectly crisp and melted like butter. If you’re a local make this place your date night, «I’m sorry», anniversary, birthday, or had a bad day need a good night place. Thank you RRK!!!

This place is located in the Westin lobby. There’s not that many restaurants within walking distance of this hotel so when it’s cold out I come here. The service is super friendly! The free bread is asiago cheese bread and it comes with oil garlic butter dip. I have tried the brussel sprouts and mushroom salad here(around 8 – 9 bucks), not that filling but it’s enough with the combination of the bread. I have also tried the chicken panini($ 11), decent quality food — I think you can only order this for room service, I did not see it on the menu downstairs. I have also tried the korean braised shortrib– 15 bucks but super small portion-good flavor. This place is pricey but it’s in the hotel so what do you expect.

Love the food and the service and the hotel. Just wish there were more veggie options. The plates are tapas style so you’d need 2 – 3 plates to be full depending on the dish. Some of my favorites are the salmon, filet mignon, brussel sprouts, and kale salad. Some of the menu items change from season to season so it’s always nice to see new options.

Best place to eat in the area of the hotel. Food is fresh, delicious and«beautiful.» :)(presentation) Service is exceptional. The servers, both dinner and breaksfast, were extremely friendly. During my breakfast visit our table was close to the kitchen. I overheard the manager say«you’re doing an excellent job, thank you» to one of his kitchen staff… warmed my heart. I’m coming back.

The food was incredible, but for food of this quality and price point, the service really was unimpressive. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable– but we ordered our food, and it seemed like the kitchen prepared and sent it out one plate at a time, in no particular order over the course of 15ish minutes. The appetizers came out after the main course, and some were done eating before one person had even gotten their dish. We were not prompted to order a second round of drinks or desserts, and much of the meal felt awkward, as the timing of the whole meal was stilted. The server was good. But a great server helps guide you through the meal experience, and you should never be sitting around wondering ‘what comes next?’ Also, you should be aware that they serve small plates. We were not aware of this, and neither the server or menu made an effort to let us know, so we ended up being incredibly disappointed with the portion size(it’s fine and really delicious for small plates, as long as you know that they will be small plates). I hope to try this place again, because the décor is so beautiful and the food truly was excellent. And I really hope to not have the same experience I did on Saturday. This is one of the only places where I really hope to be proved wrong about.

Dee Lish Us! Looking for something new, we used the recent reviews and went to the RR. The wait staff was very attentive. The plates came out in good order. Duck was awesome. Pappardelle was great. Corn /crab salad very fresh & tasty. Scallop«entrée» was only two scallops. Might have been better with one more, but very nicely cooked. Dessert was smores in a pan. Most yummy. A very good addition to the Wilmington dining scene.

After checking in to the Westin, we walked along the Riverwalk looking for dinner. After reviewing all of our options we decided to go back to the hotel and grab a burger at the bar. We walked into the restaurant, River Rock Kitchen, and were pleasantly surprised at the small plates tapas menu. The combination of flavors found on each dish were sublime. And I don’t say that lightly — I’ve had lots and lots of calamari, Brussel sprouts and sea bass but the dishes we had tonight were exceptional. The calamari was paired with banana peppers which offset any hint of the over fried flavor so commonly associated with calamari — it was great. The Brussel sprouts had a delicate hint of pork which accented their essential nature rather than crushing it into porky submission — another winner. Sea bass may be good or just another fish. When the chef paired tonight’s sea bass with a mild lemon grass broth he was able to create a harmony where the whole was truly greater than the sum of its parts. All in all, this was a stellar meal quietly tucked away inside the Westin. The service was pleasant and the décor interesting. Our total bill was in line with what we would have paid at one of the local fish houses. I will be back soon.
