Easily one of the best sandwich shops in Wilmington Delaware. I have been coming here for years and their hoagies are always consistent and never disappoint. You can get your sandwich in a variety of sizes and with your choice of accompaniments at no extra charge except for hot peppers. Now not everyone does a corned beef hoagie. It’s definitely one of my favorites especially when the meat is so beautifully lean(see photo below) and not chocked full of gristle and scraps(like some other place I know-looking at you Sciarrinos). This large hoagie cost me 12.85 and will easily feed me twice. A winner, hands down.

One word: «Meh.» Did I hate Olympic Subs and Steaks? No, not per se. The food was edible. But it was so bland. And expensive. It’s like $ 14 for an 8 inch steak, tater tots, and a 12 oz. can of soda. I mean, come on. If I’m spending $ 14 on an EIGHTINCH cheesesteak, it better be %$!@ amazing. Pat’s up in Philly, the biggest cheesesteak tourist attraction in the number one city for cheesesteaks, charges less money and gives you a bigger steak. And they basically are a monopoly with tourists. If you’re a local, you know where else to go for a cheesesteak, but if you’re visiting, or on business, you’re going either to Geno’s or Pat’s to buy a steak. They could each charge $ 16 for a steak, and their sales wouldn’t be affected, but they don’t. They charge a reasonable price. One last thing on prices; Olympic charged extra money for tomatoes. What? Tomatoes? Why don’t you charge $ 14 for a cheesesteak, and then an extra 50 cents each for steak, cheese, and the roll while you’re at it. The actual cheesesteak didn’t even taste that good. I see what they’re doing with topping«tons» of meat on top, and how people love it and feel like they’re getting a deal, and maybe it works for subs, but not for a cheesesteak. The steak was not juicy, the amount of cheese was VERY small, and the roll was soggy and awful. The steak tasted more like something you’d buy in Seattle, not Wilmington; less than 30 miles from Philly. Another complaint is the cleanliness. Some places are very clean, like Goodfella’s; other places aren’t as clean, but give off a gritty, blue-collar vibe. This place was neither. It was dirty, and depressing. It looked more like Jack’s Country Maid than it did Capriotti’s. If you’re in the area, and want a sub, go to Gaudiello’s in Trolley Square. They won’t nickel-and-dime you, and they make the best Italian hoagie you’ll ever taste. They’re also very friendly(it’s a husband and wife) and accommodating. If you want a cheesesteak, walk six blocks down to Bain’s Deli on 2nd and Market and get a cheesesteak. Their steaks are delicious, and the place is clean. I gave both of those places 5 stars. Olympic’s fails. The only time you should ever eat there is if you’re at a new job, and your boss inexplicably loves them(he smokes heavily, and thus can’t taste anything) and he tells you to pick them up. Other than that, there are plenty of other delicious sub places in the area that you should go to instead of here.

I love their cheesesteaks. They are a bit pricy(8.95 for a small) but it is well worth the investment. I have never had anything other than cheesesteaks and fries. Very clean establishment nice friendly staff.

Two of my co-workers and I went here for lunch to get cheesesteaks. They were good but all three of us ended up getting a stomach virus that lasted several days. With that said, we won’t be going back here.

This place is the bomb!!! I got the gyro platter and it was overflowing with meat! The Greek«side» salad was a meal by itself! I will definitely come here again! Very friendly and helpful staff.

The cheesesteak itself it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. The service, eating area, and price — all not good. You get rushed when you order and the place is kind of gross — I definitely wouldn’t be eating anything that happened to fall off my plate and onto even the tray. They also don’t put anything on the fries which as you might expect are bland even after I added salt myself. We spent $ 26 between the 2 of us for the steaks, fries and drinks — not cheap by any means but not crazy expensive. I would probably go back and pick up a cheesesteak for takeout but that’s about it.

Cheese steaks are very good. Get there before noon for lunch if you don’t want to wait long. It gets busy. A small should do the trick for most people. At over $ 8 for a small though, it’s kind of expensive. Probably the best cheese steak in the down town area.

Took literally 30 minutes for them to make a freaking salad. Then I found out it was already made but nobody felt like giving it to me. Ridiculous. Terrible service.

There’s a couple sub shops in downtown wilmington. I think the meat at Bain’s deli is better, it’s on the same street but further towards the riverfront. Prices are your average deli prices(6.50 for a sandwich). At bain’s deli, my Italian sandwich was closer to $ 7 but it was bigger and higher quality meat(better salami). They sell other sandwiches and cheesesteaks, maybe their other stuff is better.

Cheap. Fast. Delicious. Come here on occasion for a quick lunch which is always less than 10 $. Today I got a crispy chicken sandwich and cheese fries. Both were great and took less than 5 minutes. Not the fanciest place but definitely gets the job done.

Perfect spot for lunch. You can’t miss with anything in the menu. Plus the fresh soups hit the spot on the cold winter days.

Great subs. Absolutely massive and packed subs. A bit expensive, ~$ 10 for a small but it could feed 2 people. Best regular deli sub I’ve had in DE(capriottis doesn’t fit that category in my mind)

Don’t get downtown to eat very often, but I thought this place was an excellent choice for a quick lunch. Reading other reviews, I’m surprised to read about poor, surly service. That wasn’t our experience. Maybe«efficient in a downtown sort of way!» :) Great selection of sandwiches, cheese steaks, etc, and I thought the food was excellent, and reasonable priced. Would go back without reservation.

Awesome amounts of tasty food! I got the screaming turkey and you have to dig through the turkey to get to the heat, but it’s a delicious journey and we’ll worth it.

The service is getting slower. I understand being patient but not when its five cooks on the grill. I think the space is too small and they don’t have room to maneuver properly?

First of all, the bread was fantastic. The sizes are ridiculous. I would say my cheesesteak taste-wise was probably a 3 out of 5. As someone else mentioned, not super«beef» flavor and a bit light on the provolone. When you’re going to eat something that probably takes a month or so off your life you really want it to be great. The old bay crinkly fries were fine, and the Maryland style(Delaware style?) crab soup was very tasty and full of crab. The guy behind the counter was not real friendly, nor were some of the other employees. However, the woman who made our food was very nice. They have a huge menu otherwise and I’ve gotta wonder what else is good…

Wow, just wow. Olympic put me in one of those rare situations of befuddlement at not getting anything close to what I expected. I went for the«small» Nigerian, at $ 9.50 I thought ‘This place is steep!’. I swung round the counter to wait. When it came, that’s when the befuddlement began, they call this a small?! It’s a bit deceiving, this stack of meat, they build the sandwich with a hairline layer of meat, then all the fixings, then they pile meat on top for a dramatically delicious sub. It was perfect, great meaty flavor mixed with all the trimmings on one of those fantastic, chewy, fresh sub rolls. I LOVED it. The only thing in the way of calling this my home for lunch is the price. I’d say it was just a buck over what I would expect to get and also have that ‘great deal’ feeling. Still, you want a sandwich? THISISTHEPLACE.

The Subs here make me want to live in DE!!! We visited Wilmington, DE for my DH line brother’s wedding. While he was running around with the groom I went for a walk looking for something good in DE to eat and ran into this place!!! HANDSDOWN, I am glad I did run into this place, the Steak and Cheese Sub was the BEST! I mean I bought one for myself and one for my DH and before he got back to the room I CRUSHED his! LOL! I know I shouldnt have, so I decided to go back with him and let him witness this remarkable thing being made! FOOD!!! Ugh, I’m all the way in Houston and canNOT possibly find one that is just as good as Olympic Subs! I am sooo depressed about this now… Well, That’s my take on it! I Love this place and I hope that we visit in the near future again so I can just have one more sub and maybe one for the road! HA!
