Sorry to say that all the negative reviews are accurate. Just had sushi and several entrées. The rolls were cut too thick to enjoy. The flavor was bland and the roll temperature was off for the cooked rolls. The worse thing was the wait for the entrées. Several entrees were served late with many excuses, but we were completely finished with our meals by the time they served the last entrée. «Kitchen very busy». But the restaurant was not even half full. Oh, the the table was so wobbly that we had to stuff napkins under the leg to make it bearable. Will not be back. A very expensive learning lesson.

Nikki’s in the downtown location was actually the first place I ever ate sushi at, but since then I have also been to the one on Racine(which is where I took the included photo), the one at the mall, and the hibachi one near Mayfaire. I had my trepidations at first, but they quickly passed once I saw the delicious plate in front of me. I don’t visit Nikki’s very often, but it is always excellent when I do. The spicy tuna roll is great!

Fresh sushi, always! They make every roll when ordered! It’s worth the wait. Best in town, so far. We all know what a bad sushi roll tastes like! Stale, rubbery and discolored! Special happy hour ½ prices, Mon thru Thurs. Wait staff are fast and friendly! It’s my «go to» spot to meet friends for a cocktail/sushi after work. Play as hard as you work! Work as hard as you play! Keep a happy balance.

Place has gone down hill with freshness and service. Went from best in town to worst. Understand they have new owners. Find a new place

Happy hour is perfect for a college kid on a budget. It took a little while to be seated even though it wasn’t very crowded, but the food was brought out fast and fresh. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere is very casual.

I came here after a long day at UNCW. I was surprised how close this place was to campus, it’s walking distance from my office. I came here for happy hour and was pleased with the $ 2 draft beers and the $ 3 rolls. I ordered the spicy tuna role and the shrimp tempura roll. I normally don’t get full from sushi, but this place hit the spot. The service was adequate and I will be coming back.

I came into this restaurant and got two sushi rolls and I got a hair in my food, the place plays music off the radio, not recommended.

I used to love this place because my family would always hit it up for Happy Hour sushi, but it definitely seems to have gone a little downhill since the good old times. I came by with my parents for lunch and ordered their sushi lunch special(California roll, spicy tuna roll and salmon hand roll) with miso soup and a ginger salad. My parents both got the salmon teriyaki bento box. The sushi tasted pretty much the same as the sushi I could get at my school, except the salmon hand roll was soggy(the seaweed). I felt like it was stale — but if you order it, try eating it first and maybe it won’t be soggy. The salmon was fresh though, and my parents’ pieces of salmon were cooked perfectly with a crispy exterior and soft, flaky interior. I don’t think I’ll be coming back because there’s just not much about this place that makes it stand out — I’m sure Wilmington has better sushi places!

We were the only ones in the restaurant when we ordered and by the time we got our food the restaurant was full, everyone got their food but us. We didn’t get our food for almost an hour. They lost our ticket! How? We were the only ones there! Went there the next night to see if it would be any better. Once again empty, took another 45min to get food! Then there was a huge wad of paper in the rice! Lost my business

Sushi was good, tasted fresh with good presentation, service from the hostess to the server was not up to pare. The hostess seemed bothered that she had to do her job and server seemed apathetic towards her customers.

One of my favorite sushi bars in Wilmington. Reasonably priced food and quick, friendly service. My favorites include the Crunchy Roll and Angel Hair Roll along with a small house salad topped with a delicious ginger dressing.

Went here for Valentine’s dinner, approx 8pm. Waited over 45 minutes for the always excellent sushi. Love the excellent sushi, don’t love the wait time. Not the first time this has happened here. Five stars for the food.

Non existent management combined with poor quality control within the kitchen and disinterested customer service make this a place to skip. Stopped in for lunch to a empty restaurant. Ordered the steak teriyaki and a selection of Sushi– should have been a sure pick for any good Japanese place. Sushi was tasteless and rubbery. Ordered the steak and it came out almost dangerously raw. I sent it back, only for it to come right back– the whole plate having been microwaved. Dry white rice, piping hot veggies and tough leathery steak. For the money there are numerous better options in town, including some other«Nikki’s» Overall dissapointing and disatisfying experience.

Really terrible experience. I came here with a friend to get take out one Saturday for lunch. I should’ve known this place was terrible when I walked in and there were no customers but only two staff members sitting at the bar and a dazed and confused teenager managing the host stand. We ordered two bento boxes, one with fish and veggies instead of rice and one with tofu, brown rice instead of white rice, and a side of veggies. When ordering, the hostess seemed very confused and said that she’s still relatively new so we gave her the benefit of the doubt. But it became clear that the other staff members should’ve come over and helped when she took 10 minutes just to put each of our orders in the computer and clearly had no idea what she was doing. It’s pretty simple: I tell you what I want to eat, I give you money, you make it(or tell the chef to). Well we ended up with two chicken bento boxes, one with white rice one with brown, a side of tofu and two sides of veggies, both of which cost extra. We never received the miso soup that should come with the bento boxes and we were charged extra for tofu, brown rice, and veggies. Our meals ended up being more than $ 20 each when they shouldn’t have cost more than $ 10 each. Of course we didn’t check our order until we got home and for that I am kicking myself because our ordering experience should have been a red flag. My friend called to try to speak with the manager but there apparently was no manager on duty. I don’t see how you can run a reputable establishment without a manager. My guess is that the manager didn’t want to deal with an angry customer. We asked for a credit for our meals and the hostess replied that her manager told her that we could come in and she would pay for the meals because it was her fault. What kind of response is that? If Nikki’s wants to run a profitable business, get some new management and train your staff, even if they are only temporary. Otherwise, watch the bad reviews pile up.

Do not order takeout from this restaurant! Apparently management does not exist in this place. Went in with a friend to order 1 roll and two bento boxes. 1 with snapper and 1 with tofu(add veggies). The girl working the front seemed very confused and when she asked a question to a coworker, she just yelled while sitting by the bar and didn’t come over. When we returned to pick it up she said I owed extra money for the tofu. As I was hungry I didn’t question this and we left. When we got home we discovered that we had two chicken bento boxes, no soup in either and an entire separate dish of tofu and veggies. No wonder I was charged over $ 20.00 for a $ 9.00 lunch. I called to speak to a manager and heard«she wants to speak to you». After a moment the girl(who took our order) retuned to tell me there wasn’t a manager on duty and she had mistaken the chef for a manager, but there would be one on staff at 5:00. I asked for a phone call and gave her my number. She apologized for the mix up and hung up. At 7:00 I received a call not from the manager but by the same girl that took our order! She said the manager never came in and told her to tell me that if I wanted to come in to the restaurant that SHE would pay for it! What manager would have the person who screwed up call to guilt trip the customer? I gave them several chances to speak with me and was avoided each time. The entire experience was quite strange and extremely unprofessional. Food was just. «ok» and was not what we wanted. I am from out of town but come here frequently and will not be coming back. Train your staff and hire some managers that actually manage. as of now you have a staff that couldn’t care less.

Hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had. Enjoyed this all four years of college at UNCW. I’ve since moved to Tampa, FL and have yet to find anything as good. The rainbow roll was my favorite. 50% off happy hour Sun-Thurs from 4 – 6 also made me love this place so much more.

Pricy… The noodles were not great, yet the soup and rice were fabulous. The sushi we got was very good. We might try somewhere else next time in town to compare. Overall great meal. Staff was awesome

Came here with a client so it had to go well. It did. The service was prompt and knowledgable and tentative. We both ordered sushi. Obviously. I thought it was very good and usual for a kinda high-end spot. The angel hair linguini suishi though was spot on. 5⁄5 for that one. The rest were a 3 maybe a 3.5÷5 as far as flavor. Would come back.

Holy. Cow. Either my sushi expectations have skyrocketed over the last couple of years, or things have gotten pretty bad for dear old Nikki’s. My usual sushi spot is closed for lunch on Saturdays and I had a couple of friends in town craving sushi, so we decided to give Nikki’s a go. Long story short: I *NEVER* leave leftover sushi. And today I left almost an entire roll on my plate. The tuna appeared to be pale and a bit on the grey side(!) and was, indeed, quite tasteless. No such luck with the salmon. We could *definitely* taste it and it was *definitely* on the fishy side. My friend spent $ 25 on a lunch that mostly went unfinished. I felt bad for bringing them. Also, I just felt bad thanks to the iffy fish now swimming in my stomach. No bueno, Nikki’s. Cheap fish may keep costs down, but it won’t keep the customers. (On a sidenote: Our server was excellent. I can only hope that she someday — soon –finds work serving food that equals her service.)
