I went to Hibachi Bistro last night and got two Hibachi Vegetable entrees to go. They said it would take 10 minutes to prepare. I live about 15 minutes away from here, so once I ordered my food, I got in the car immediately. When I arrived, my food was ready and sitting on the counter. It was great! I don’t like celery, so I chose to leave it off and have the veggies cooked in teriyaki sauce instead of ginger. I also filled-up on their white sauce from the buffet of sauces they offer. My food was so good! My boyfriend got the same thing as I did and he was crazy about it! It was not too salty, not too filling, and they gave us a great amount of food for only $ 6.39. I also had an a BOGO coupon from the Attractions book, so we got both entrees for just over $ 8 — tax included! The employees weren’t the friendliest, but this didn’t affect me too much since I got my order to-go. I really like how their sauces are self-serve. This way, I could get as many different sauces as I wanted in the quantity that I wanted. Overall great experience and great food! Would definitely recommend, especially for take-out!

This place is great if you’re on a diet because you won’t actually want to eat any of it. Ordered take out online. The online ordering process was seamless but everything after that sucked. The guy who greeted me at the counter was condescending towards other employees there and rolled his eyes when I added a tip to the receipt, which in retrospect was probably dumb since I paid through the online service but rude regardless. My order didn’t come with any white sauce for hibachi or soy sauce for sushi. And although I’ve never ordered hibachi with out being given white sauce, Im willing to admit I should have asked for it. But no soy sauce with sushi? Is it hiding somewhere in the restaurant? The hibachi steak was gnarly. The chicken and rice were just salty. The rice tasted like French fries. If your food is going to be that gross, you might as well toss some white sauce at me to cover the blehhh. Sushi is nothing special. Again, maybe some soy sauce could have distracted me.

I stopped by here this afternoon because I was craving hibachi. I ordered my usual Teriyaki Salmon, cooked medium rare, add mushrooms with the teriyaki sauce on the side. The gentleman taking my order assured me it would be ready shortly. After about ten minutes I approached the counter to check on my order. The same guy explained that they had put teriyaki sauce on my salmon by mistake and were remaking my order which I greatly appreciated. While I was waiting the same guy gave me discount card for a return visit and apologized for the wait. When I got home I was disappointed to find that my salmon was way overcooked. I won’t be back here anytime soon…

First time I tried ordering online. Selected my order, set my pick up time, and put in my payment info. When I got there there was a sign on the door saying they were closed. So why didn’t you disable the online ordering? Ridiculous. I felt nice so I gave it a second try and wish I hadn’t… Chicken was dry and noddles were nothing to call home about. Meh. Not going there again.

I am from out of town and come to the area several times a year. This by far is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in the area. The food is always great, the service is always fantastic, and their prices are more than reasonable. I have never dined in but I do know they stay pretty busy. The only thing that kept me from giving them 5 stars is that they serve Coke products instead of Pepsi products.

This was my first time here, and I was pretty disappointed. I tried to order for a hibachi shrimp and California roll but the dude only rung me up for the hibachi shrimp. The shims was good but the veggies and rice were scary. They were doused in soy sauce to the point where I felt like my blood pressure was rising because of it. It was way too salty even when I poured the shrimp sauce commonly put on it(I forget the name) it was pretty sad, I might swing by again for another try but I have to let the salt escape my body first.

Had a grilled salmon with a sushi roll. My salmon was perfect. It was flaking at the slightest touch, just as I like it. They add raw carrots into sushi, which makes them crunchy. That is unusual but also interesting. Special thanks to Connor for his creativity. ;)

This place is absolutely terrible. I got the filet entrée my meat was flavorless and the rice was just mush. My veggies were overcooked and tasted like they were just sitting in a bowl of butter then served to me. The appearance of the food wasn’t pleasant either. The owners may go want to dine in at some more reputable places like Myabi Jr. in Fayetteville NC to see what good express Japanese food is. The said they will recook my order but I don’t believe in wasting food luckily I have two hungry dogs aka my garbage disposals they didn’t even want no part of this. I believe the only reason why they are in business is because of the local college crowd. Please do Wilmington a favor and close shop.

Love the food here and it comes at an affordable price. Has been a staple of every UNCW students college dining experience. Have hibachi and teriyaki flavored foods, along with Sushi, appetizers, and alcohol.

I give two stars because they have white sauce that is really good. The vegetables and rice are good as well and my daughter enjoyed her chicken. However the customer service is non-existent.

When my boyfriend took me here for sushi I was a little put off. I love sushi but sushi bars in my mind are supposed to be a little fancy. Fancy is not the right word but, suffices to say I didn’t expect a tiny bar tucked in back of a take –out counter. This place recieved no point for atmosphere. I’m fine with that usually. Hole in the wall dining can turn up gems, but this is sushi and sushi requires cleanliness and skill. My boyfriend ordered for us because I like to try other’s favorites in hopes of finding new favorites for myself. I was glad I stuck it out. I wish I could tell you what my date ordered but, yummy. They used the number system so dumb Americans like me don’t crucify their language. I think the take out was kind of general Asian food as to one particular culture There was only one sushi chef and he knew his clients. In fact, after my boyfriend passed and I went in alone, I just showed him a picture of him and he gave me what I wanted. I still would have liked to see it cleaner. I don’t know, when I eat raw food I want Mr. Clean giving the thumbs up off behind the bar. Just me. It was clearly the McDonald’s of Asian food so standards aren’t high. Low down is I would eat there again. It’s good food for the money. * they have fried Oreos

So I came to visit family and thought it’d be nice to give this place a shot. The food was good no complaint, but the hostess was beyond rude. Upon asking a simple question on whether or not my guest and I could move. She rolled her eyes and responded with a «what ever.» I was left in complete disgust at the lack of customer service at this place.

I expected good things from this place. a fresh take on Hibachi. ordered semi-fast food style. but delivered to your table. Great for people in a hurry, and not too expensive either. They tout a selection on house-made sauces as well. so I was pretty excited. We ordered a few standards from the menu and I got a beer for a phenomenal price as well! I was pumped. The food was delivered and it tasted almost exactly like I expected, but not like I wanted it to. Flavors were masked in salty msg sauce. mounds of cheap carbs covered in chicken with heat applied to it… I was missing any of the balance, or freshness that I wanted so badly to taste. If I was a college kid, who’d never tasted good food before, I would love this place. But I am not.

Last visit, Patrick Riddle got unsweet tea instead of sweet tea. Since then they have labeled the sweet and unsweet drink containers! This should prevent any future confusion from Riddle(he’s very particular about his cup of tea).

I usually love this place, but I placed an order recently and the kid there had it up in about three minutes. Which of course shouldn’t be a complaint except I know it takes longer to cook this stuff. Sure enough, the shrimp is so raw its inedible. Low quality shrimp, tastes like low tide. I should’ve made him put it back on the stove. Veggies were all almost raw too. Asked for extra zucchini and they didn’t give me it. Not happy about it. It wasn’t remotely crowded in there, like it usually is at lunch, so I guess this sub par service has been going on a little while. I severely hope they don’t undercook chicken the way everything else was undercooked. Disappointing as this is one of my favorite places in town. Great atmosphere, clean store, friendly staff and really good yumyum sauce. Still a massive leap in quality above that hibachi buffet. Hopefully this visit was just an off day.

When I lived in Wilmington, I dined here weekly. The quality of the food and the fast approach to hibachi style cuisine were paramount. I always ordered the hibachi chicken with fried rice, extra broccoli(and when they added extra it was normally a side cup full). They don’t skimp here. For the price you get enough food to have leftovers the next day. The white sauce is by far my favorite condiment ever produced and the cherry coke in the fountain makes the whole meal that much better. Staff has always been friendly and efficient. I go back each time I’m in Wilmington. Now that it’s a, «bistro,» I don’t think it’s changed that much, same quality for a reasonable price. I crave this joint’s food. Tried other Hibachi restaurants to no avail. Hibachi Express(err…“bistro”) has my vote. Wilmington, support this establishment so I can continue to travel to your fine city knowing its confines are still able to quench my ungodly appetite for quickly sautéed meat and vegetable stuffs.

The kid(or at least I hope this is a teen who hasn’t matured enough to learn manners) that answered the phone was beyond arrogant, impatient and rude. I had a simple question regarding delivery and he had the most condescending tone towards me, it was highly offensive. When I attempted to ask another question he snapped yet again, at that time I decided it wasn’t worth my time to be treated like this and decided not to place an order; that I would have gladly picked up, had I not been talked to like a child. I think it was probably in my best decision not to place an order, considering I have never heard of Cali roll being made with carrots, which is what they are offering. And I am not new to the sushi world, after living in California I have had the pleasure of trying some of the best sushi around. However a staple sushi roll like the Cali roll is pretty standard. Crab. Avocado. Cucumber. To the arrogant fella that answered the phone, I sure hope you learn some manners for a possible future career. You won’t go far in life with that attitude.

Cheap, fast and good! I love ginger dressing and theirs does not disappoint. White sauce was good on everything– had the hibachi steak and teriyaki chicken. Split the dinner entrée with my daughter bc we had a big lunch– just needed a little food to fill us. This was exactly what we wanted. Fast but not«fast food»! Fresh!

Foods overpriced for quality. Shrimp sauce is good, but can be gotten anywhere. Staff is generally apathetic. It really feels like the place is run by a bunch of apathetic college drop ours and their frat boy boss. Also, there are weird times when the whole places smells of homophobia and fox news, not sure why. The shrimp bowl is pretty good, but the cashiers are usually rude. I’d rather eat at one of the many other Japanese places that have much better service and competitive prices.
