Truly authentic! Chillaxing, Unilocaling«Jamaican» Restaurants in the area while riding. You can’t believe everything you read on Unilocal! But you can BELIEVETHIS! Jamaican Mi Hungry is the Truth! I’ve never had cabbage that taste soo good! Oxtails, Curry Chicken/Jerk Chicken Combo, Rice and Beans ALLGOOD! If I didn’t live in deep deep South Jersey, I would probably eat here 2/times a wk. Ms. Lydia is a very pleasant Lady. She said business is slow, but she will hang in there as long as she can. Please people! Spread the word about this business! Let people know how GOOD the food really is. I would hate to drive from south jersey and find this place closed, especially, when it’s one of the best, well the best in Delaware that I have had! Not to knock the rest, ITISTHEBEST! No…Don’t take my word! Try it for yourself!

The service was 5 stars, the food is 3 stars. The menu was a tad expensive for the amount of food you get. This place isn’t quite as good as some other Jamaican restaurants I’ve tried in the area, but it’s still new so the quality will definitely improve over time.

So nice to see more ethnic restaurants cropping up in Delaware. I went here today craving some oxtail. I actually missed this spot, drove right past it and had to turn around. The parking is TIGHT. I think I parked next to the no parking sign. I figured my car would be ok there as I was just running in to get my food and go. The place is nice and clean. I ordered the large oxtail platter(I’m greedy), rice and peas, cabbage. The woman serving the food was soo sweet! She apologized for the smallness of the oxtails, and gave me extra gravy over my rice. I also ordered the beef patty. YUMMY! The cabbage had bite to it and it was good, oxtails were REALLY on the small side but flavorful. Beef patty also has kick and was yummy. I swallowed it down with ginger beer. Total cost $ 15. I will be back. Good food and service. Just hope to get bigger oxtails next time.

Just stopped by for my first visit. Jerk Chicken dinner, rice & peas, and cabbage. WOW! The chicken was moist, flavorful, nicely spiced and plentiful. The sides were excellent as well. The restaurant is clean and appears run by a young couple. I really have been missing great Jamaican food since my favorite place in New Castle, DE closed down. Jamaican Mi Hungry hits the nail on the head with it’s Jerk Chicken. I am really looking forward to trying their Stewed Chicken, Curry Goat and other meals in the future. If your in Elsmere, DE or in the vicinity of the Kirkwood Highway and are REALLY hungry, do yourself a favor and head over to Jamaican Mi Hungry. You won’t go wrong and the prices are very reasonable too. As the previous poster noted, it’s real deal Jamaican!

This restaurant is the real deal! Let me start off my letting you know I was born and raised in Jamaica, so when it comes to our food I know what’s good or when an establishment is only riding on the ‘Jamaican’ name. Jamaican Mi Hungry is the real deal and the food is on point! Yesterday after driving by their location for about 6 weeks I decided to stop in to give them a try. In all honesty the first few weeks went by and I didn’t even know they were there, it was my wife who spotted the store color and noticed it was a Ja spot. I didn’t believe her at first, but the next time I passed I realized she was right. A few more weeks went by and I was a little skeptical at stopping in not to mention it’s easy to pass by without realizing it’s there. I also did not want to be disappointed by another ‘Jamaican’ restaurant whose food wasn’t very good and since I’m a fan of Spice N’ Nice II I would go there if I wanted good Jamaican food. Well yesterday I got off work a little early and as I was approaching I figured let me stop in. I figured let me try the Curry Goat since that’s not a meat everyone can get just right, so if she is good that would be the tell tale. Well I’m happy to report Jamaican Mi Hungry did not disappoint and I really enjoyed my meal! Not only was the Goat meat seasoned well, the White rice had a nice flavor to it and plantains fried just right. I also purchased a meal for my 14yr old son and he too complimented how good it was. I was impressed by my lunch so later that night I decided to try something else — the Escovitch fish. I was also impressed with how good it was, it even had that nice vinegary hot’ish kick to the Onions the way remembered it should be. Yeah, this is my new go to Jamaican food spot. Next I will try their breakfast, and I’m especially looking forward to trying their fried dumplings with Ackee and Saltfish!
