We had muscles and calamari for an appetizer. The muscles were very good. The calamari was good but wasn’t the best. For our main course I had the crab cakes which were amazing and my boyfriend had the scallops au Gratin. They were also amazing. Overall this restaurant was so good and I would definitely recommend!!!

The Anchor continues to remain at the top of my list of best restaurants in the Deerfield Valley. The food is always great, and their specials cannot be beat. I love the fact that they often have«old school» seafood dishes you rarely see anymore like Sole Oscar, which are always executed perfectly. The service is always great, they are very accommodating when it comes to the little ones, and they have a decent sized parking lot in the back of the restaurant. When it is warm out, they have two covered decks on the front of the building to sit at and enjoy a meal outside. It is great on a nice day! PS– They are building a new building behind the restaurant which is rumored to be a Mexican Taqueria they will be opening soon. I am sure it will be great as well! Overall: Highly recommend!

I went with a friend tonight to get a quick bite and to catch up with work. Our server, Larry was great, attentive and gave us enough time to place our food order. He also checked up on us from time to time to make sure that we were ok. We had two appetizers, fried calamari and fried whole belly clams and they were both fresh and delicious. Nice and warm décor with very friendly staff. I will definitely go back again.

I got the special, turkey pot pie and french onion soup. The soup was delicious! The bread they used was very dense and soaked up the broth nicely and became easy to break morsels off with my spoon. It was not over salted and had a nice kick of peppercorn. The turkey pot pie was okay. The filling was good and flavorful, but the crust was too elastic. You needed a knife to cut through and often and the filling would get squeezed out from the sides. Service was very slow for the amount of people that were in there(10) and I was with a party of five. I would come here again and most definitely get the soup.

The Anchor is my favorite restaurant hands down. The place is always packed and their specials are so good! Try the french onion soup. It’s fantastic! We like to go midweek and sit at the bar. The bartender has a quirky sense of humor that we appreciate.

Spent a week in Wilmington and ate at the Anchor three times. We rarely do that when traveling, preferring to try different places, but this won our hearts immediately. The service is personal and the food is excellent. Fine seafood, good salads, barbecued ribs very nice. Prime rib with a perfect popover, yum. One night they offered a special root vegetable soup that was flavorful and gingery, not over-salted and just wonderful. I’d go back to Wilmington just to enjoy another dinner at The Anchor Seafood Restaurant.

LUNCH: I am a HUGE fan of the menu. It has everything for the serious SEAFOODFOODIE. They use whatever the fresh oyster of the day is to make their Oyster Po-boys or fried oyster plates. They have whole belly fried clams. They have a huge plate of fried calamari– for an appetizer, served with my favorite sauce for dipping– hot marinara. I had baked stuffed clams for an app. You get two«Stuffies» that are tasty — with a slight kick… but of course, there is a lot of breading in there. Still, for $ 6.95, I found them to be enjoyable. They offer a MAINE lobster roll. Ah, now here is where I have a slight complaint. I GRILLED our server — asking if it an authentic ME lobster roll — on a toasted, BUTTERED hot dog bun? She said yes. Well, we did get delicious fresh tasting lobster meat(aside from one piece of mushy claw meat) lightly tossed in a bit of mayo, no lettuce, no mixers like celery etc… that IS authentic. However, they are served on «Hoagie Style» crusty roll, and they were not buttered, though toasted. Our server graciously took mine back when I asked for butter, and they redid the roll, adding a minimal amount of butter. The bread is too heavy, too bulky, and too filling to go with the delicate lobster. Otherwise, $ 15.00 is a very fair comes with fries and coleslaw –both decent. I went for H.M. onion strings with mine. They were pretty good– slightly greasy… My husband loved his Clam Chowder. it was delicious, and not over salted, so I give it high marks. The beer selection is decent and beer comes in a frosted glass. I had mimosas’a for $ 4.95 that were cold and yummy. Our sever was very friendly and for the most part efficient — but it was a busy Saturday lunch– Columbus weekend. I did have to wait quite a while to have water refilled, and we waited for the check. We would have enjoyed their outdoor seating if ti were just a tad warmer. I had a nice conversation with the chef or line cook. He seemed enthusiastic and caring about the freshness of the fish and seafood– a very good sign. We will return to try the fresh haddock, calamari, crab cake, etc etc.

We have had so many fabulous dinners at this lovely restaurant and tonight didn’t disappoint! Starting with the French onion soup, tuna, and panko shrimp, then moving on to the fried oysters… sweet and crunchy without being chewy, killer prime rib and to quote my brother-in-law, «the best rack of lamb»!!! To top it off Taryn at the bar on Friday nights makes your night complete!

My favorite place to go for a dirty martini. After refreshment there is always something enticing on the specials board. I hardly ever have to order form the menu but if I do my favorite would be the chicken and Brie salad. This is the restaurant that I always am comfortable recommending.

This is a decent seafood restaurant in downtown Wilmington. We ate at the bar on a Friday evening — bartender was friendly, scallops were absolutely delicious, homemade salad dressings(they bring you three different ones to taste and choose from) were a nice touch. Prices were okay value-wise. I would avoid the apple curry rice — sounded good on paper but needed at least a tablespoon of salt for flavor.

Hands down the best meal I’ve had in forever! Service was warm and friendly, excellent beers on tap(including some local brews), lobster, prime rib, and bleu cheese dressing are noteworthy contenders for any palette with good taste and need for satisfaction. If you can get in(and get the table by the fireplace), I highly recommend u anchor!

It’s difficult to add something to the previous 53 Unilocal reviews. Good food, reasonable in price and good service! I’m glad my husband and I ate there when in that area of Vermont.

Staying in Wilmington over the New Year weekend we decided to stop by for Dinner. My wife had crab legs and I had a Lobster, both where delicious and cooked to perfection. If you’re in to seafood this place is for you.

All around superb food and charming VT setting. We had a great bottle of Malbec for $ 29 and then splurged on the surf and turf as well as the king crab legs(pre-sliced which made them all the better!) The homemade salad dressings were superb that came with the mains as were the garlic mashed potatoes. We can’t wait to come back. Pictures and smiles speak for themselves! Good idea to make a reservation if coming during peak ski season!

I’ve always loved The Anchor. It’s much busier these days than it used to be, and that’s a testament to how good the food is. Beware! If you don’t make a reservation during busy season you will wait at least an hour for a seat. Just so that’s on your radar. Now the food — considering it’s not terribly close to the coast the seafood here is spot on. My fiancé loves their clam chowder and the lobster dinner he had the other night looked faboosh. I’m more of a landlubber myself and their chicken and burgers are fantastic, not dry and cooked quite well. Their french fries are killer too — and I’m a serious fry addict. As far as drinks are concerned they have a decent selection of beers on tap and in bottles, standard fare for mixed drinks, and a small selection of wine. Nothing crazy, but just what you’re looking for after a day on the slopes(or antiquing!)

For a town where there ain’t shit to do especially on Halloween, you can never go wrong with this joint. Everything is on point and they come correct with the cold water. Service was good and not annoying. So if you’re in town and looking to find a hidden gem to eat at in a rather depressing area, that’s the one Marv. We had NE clam chowder, fried calamari to start and for dinner we had full rack of St. Louis baby back ribs and Alaskan king crab legs… and it was so good we fucked it right in the ass. You’d be a fool not to get the garlic mashed potatoes, the best.

Such friendly staff, the waitress came to check on us several times. I really enjoy the laid back environment, it’s very«homey». The St. Louis baby back was delicious, I and the mashed potatoes and pumpkin squash with the Alaskan king crab was amazing!

First of all, I want to comment on how nice and happy all the workers are. They are extremely welcoming and make you feel comfortable. Our server,(forgot his name), was very nice and constantly made sure that we were doing well with our food. We are from New York, so we were unsure of some local dish names — he took out the time to explain all the specials to us, lovely! I ordered the bacon-wrapped shrimp with horseradish sauce. It was so yummy! The flavor of the bacon and shrimp was wonderful but the horseradish was a little overwhelming for the small dish. For another appetizer, I ordered the clam chowder soup… so delish! There was a good amount of potatoes and clams, made me extremely happy. It wasn’t too heavy but it was creamy! Every entrée came with a salad… and for the dressing… they have 3DIFFERENTFLAVORS. All homemade! They were all so interesting, must try all three! For the entrée, I ordered the special, seafood bouillabaisse. It was a hugeeeee portion. After the two appetizers, the salad, and the bread, I was not able to finish my food. But of course, it was full of flavors. The dish came with clams, shrimps, mussels… all very fresh. Makes me love seafood even more… Thank you Anchor for giving us a great night in Vermont! I definitely hope I can try it again in the future!

Delicious food. Huge serving sizes(order of an entrée comes with salad, bread, and a starch) but the service was super slow. Waited forever for each course and to pay the bill. However the staff was friendly and my water cup was never empty!
