Great food. Pastas and salads are notable. Dinner is great. Ambiance is more casual.

This is a restaurant that can’t decide if it is a deli, pizzeria, or a sit-down restaurant. The result was crappy service, good pizza and bread, but the worst sandwiches we’ve ever had at a deli. The meat was poor and the bread was stale. Dang shame. If they ever put up a sign that says ‘Under New Management’, I’ll try it again.

So, I did not want to eat a large dinner last night, but was hungry enough to eat something. I did not want wait 90 minutes for a burger at Country House in Clarendon Hills or eat something overly caloric and fatty. I juts wanted something relatively fast and relatively healthy. The $ 7.95 solution: a half sandwich & bowl of soup combo at Bernard’s. I went with the meatball sandwich(okay, maybe not so healthy, but I only had a half sandwich) and chicken noodle soup. If you are in that mood where you need to eat; don’t want to overeat; and don’t want to overspend; go with the half sandwich & soup combo. Tip: Bring cash. They do not accept credit cards.
