Always empty… terrible service. I went there twice to get phở The last ind I went the waiter pointed to the way I was dressed… Duh, it was cold, I had jeans and a plain shirt, I ordered takeout for a reason, if I was sitting in, I would have dressed nicer. I stopped going for my weekly $ 11 phở.

For a fairly affordable, local place for quality and delicious food, our family goes to Colonial Quy Bau. The interior is relaxing and classy without feeling overly dramatic or showy. It’s nice to BYOB. We like that the owner chooses locally-sourced Amish chicken, but I’d be keen to hear more about their farmer’s specific animal welfare practices. My husband often treats himself to the steak or the pork chop, both of which he raves about. I often get the Vietnamese or Thai-inspired curries, and have loved each one. The starters we have tried have been great. Service is always solid and attentive, and often very friendly. We’re thankful that on the last visit the music was not playing as loudly as it had been on another occasion. They recently put a TV in up in the corner. Usually I dislike TVs in dining areas, but this was tastefully discrete and easy to ignore if you wished. We’ll be back next month!

I have eaten here 3 times now(twice for lunch, once for dinner). The service has been excellent every time. James, our waiter, made sure that we were well taken care of and was always on hand to give us more water and checked to see if we needed anything additional(but not intrusive at all). The only problem I have with this place is that virtually EVERYTHING on the menu looks so good! I have tried something different every time and have never once been disappointed. Everything was excellent. The second time we went there was for my birthday. James asked us if we were there for a special reason, and my parents told him. At the end of the meal, he brought me out a piece of lemon cake, free of charge!

Came here this week for dinner with a friend. The service was very good and friendly. I had the basil seafood with noodles. The sauce and baby bok choy was very nice but fish was so fishy it was inedible. Luckily there was plenty of other seafood in the dish.

My family and I went here for my dad’s birthday. It was the snowiest day of the season and my dad really wanted to try it. I was skeptical at first but it was actually good. When we went, they just opened so I didn’t know what to expect. Their spring rolls are great!

This restaurant is FABULOUS!!! Food is great but even better is the service. I was with a large party and we had a table with 5 young girls aged 7 – 14. The servers attention to the girls was AMAZING and to be respected!!! My husband is not easily impressed and this server definitely impressed!!! The DUCK was awesome also!!!

My husband and I came here on a Monday night. I ordered the shrimp pad thai, which was amazingly delicious. My husband wanted the duck but there weren’t any more for the night. Our awesome waiter, James recommended the lamb special of the night, and my husband loved it! James and Eugene, our waiter for the night were both amazing. I would recommend anyone wanting delicious food and awesome customer service to stop by here. James and owner, thank you so much for the wonderful experience. thank you as well for the appetizer and lemon cake! James, we welcomed our baby boy into this world on Tuesday afternoon :)

These 2 stars are based on our first visit to Colonial Quy Bau. If I hadn’t read about this place online and looked at Unilocal pictures I would never have known that there are 2 menus! Only after I questioned the waitress about some dishes I had seen online did she offer to bring a Vietnamese menu. She called it the«Phở Menu.» Even at that she only brought one menu! My husband and I had appetizers from the regular menu — beef potstickers and vegetable spring rolls. They were nothing special but they were fine. My husband’s entrée however, was not fine! He ordered the Wok Chile Tenderloin of Beef and it was inedible — and $ 23. It was not like any tenderloin of beef I have ever tasted. Tenderloin is usually very tender but this was so tough and chewy that it was impossible to eat. My husband is a very kind and diplomatic person so he wouldn’t complain. He really should have sent the dish back and asked for something else. It was really horrible. The sauce was interesting and had the beef been good the dish would have been fine but that was not the case. I had a BBQ pork dish w/fried rice from the«Phở Menu» and it was okay, but even the pork was tougher than it should have been. I have a feeling this restaurant is buying cheap, inexpensive cuts of meat. We shared Lemoncello, or possibly Limoncello, cake for dessert and it was quite good. Service was spotty but the waitstaff was hustling. it seemed to be more of a staffing problem. We might go back sometime but it won’t be for a while. Tonight we decided to go there instead of Phở & Beyond because we had never even heard of this place. If I were asked to compare the two, Phở & Beyond would win handily.

Often, the service makes the difference. James, our waiter and fellow beer aficionado, steered us in the right direction with the menu and provided courteous, friendly service throughout our excellent meal. He seems passionate about his work, a welcome rarity. This is not to discount the quality and flavor of the food. Our crispy tofu appetizer was matched well with a salad topped with a perfect balsamic dressing with notes of sesame oil. Do not miss the crispy duck with blueberry sauce.

I needed somewhere to eat before a production of one of my plays, and as per my fellow Unilocalers, this seemed to balance proximity with quality, so off I went. The GPS directions that came from Unilocal were off, and apparently put me on the other side of the street(which I only figured out after completely missing the restaurant and eventually turning around and finding it), but that’s on Unilocal or my GPS. In any case, it’s a cute little spot in a strip mall, and while it’s not fancy, the inside is actually rather pleasant and welcoming, with shining black tables and brick. Service is super friendly and attentive; I felt very welcome from the moment I set foot inside, and they were great about keeping the water glass full and wiping my place(and I wasn’t particularly messy) after each course. The food is something of a hybrid. There is a page of traditional Vietnamese items, but there are also a few Thai dishes and then some dishes that are largely French. I opted for a pair of specials, both of which were more French. I liked how the server gave the price of each special as he described it, though admittedly he slipped up in not telling me the specials before I asked if there were any. I think he didn’t realize I hadn’t been told them, because with the next table, I heard him ask if someone had told them the specials yet. My starter was a mushroom purée soup. It wouldn’t have won a beauty pageant – mushrooms aren’t exactly gorgeous in purée form – but it was indeed very tasty, and it wasn’t so completely pureed that it had no texture. My main course was a roast duck with strawberry chutney, which came accompanied by broccoli and potato(almost like a little lasagna stack of slices). This course was a mixed bag. On the plus side, the duck was tender and other than a bit of the breast, pretty moist. Much of the skin was really crisp and delicious. The potato«lasagna»(my name) was quite tasty, and the broccoli was nicely cooked. Having said all that, not all of the skin was crispy, and there were places where the fat wasn’t rendered and just had to be cut away. That wasn’t a big deal, though. The dish’s biggest weakness was the strawberry chutney: the sauce was so thin and watery that it literally spread all over the plate, meaning that not only was it not particularly effective for the duck(unless I was able to cut a chunk of strawberry/onion to accompany the bite), but that both the potatoes and the broccoli were swimming in it. Not an ideal pairing. A thicker sauce with more texture(e.g. more onion slivers) would have greatly improved the dish. They showed me the dessert plate, but while the desserts looked good, it seemed like a bit more sugar than I wanted at that point, so I stopped there. All in all, this is a pleasant place. On food alone, it would probably be more like three and a half stars, but with the service and the pleasant atmosphere(other than the screaming baby, which they couldn’t really control), I’ll bump them to four stars and give them another try if I’m ever in the area again.

Absolutely loved this place! I was a bit unsure if I’d like it at first, because I’m usually not a huge fan of Asian fusion restaurants. The waiter was really nice and had great recommendations. The décor inside of the restaurant is really beautiful. The golden bags were amazing, they are actually crispy and dipped in a tangy sweet sauce. I thought they would be more doughy for some reason. The shrimp and crab fried rice is also amazing and I don’t even usually like fried rice. I’m sure everything in this restaurant is amazing, I want to try it all! :P

I was really impressed with my first time dinning here with my grandparents(they have dined here multiple times before) The restaurant seems to be more upscale for such a small space. the ambiance is nice and goes well with the food. Also, they have a lot of daily specials which all sounded very good, but there were so many i had trouble remembering. I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp, which had an amazing lime flavor. A much larger portion than expected, but I’m not going to complain.

Amazing selection of not just Vietnamese but I would call it Asian fusion with Thai and just lot’s of great food. My wife loves duck and says they do it right. I love spring rolls, curry dishes, unique blends of creative creations — will have do double back and try more menu items. One of the few places where I could go and have no temptation to order what I ordered the previous visit. Would give 5-stars but reserving that for that 3rd visit when the service was 3-for-3; first time they were really awesome, super helpful with selections and genuinely nice. Prices were very reasonable for the amazing quality of food. Be sure to bring your own wine or drink fav as they encourage bring-your-own drink.

First and foremost, this restaurant has exceptional service that goes absolutely above and beyond. We tried many apps. The golden bags were delicious. We ended up ordering a second portion. The other dumplings were ok. For our meals my husband had the phở deluxe. We are not phở experts but the broth was flavorful and meat was soft. I had the yellow coconut chicken curry. I was expecting a different flavor with a bit more sweetness and more of gravy. Usually when I get yellow curry it feels like a nice warm comforting dish and this was different. The dessert was yummy — lemoncello cake! Overall great experience and we plan on going back.

Affectionately referred to as «The Duck Place» by my family, Colonial Quy Bao is one of our favorite spots for a delicious and slightly upscale dinner! As implied by the nickname, the duck is INCREDIBLE: crispy skin on the outside, soft meat underneath, and a sweet but tangy blueberry sauce to finish off the dish. Although it is often a struggle to branch out and order something other than the duck, other dishes on the menu are also delicious. Everything I’ve tried tastes fresh and flavorful, and the meat/seafood is cooked just the right amount. The Drunken Noodles with shrimp and chicken are a great option, and the rack of lamb specials should not be missed! Wok chili infused beef is also very good; the meat is cooked tender and it had a nice bit of spice to it. The pad see ew is good for a less spicy noodle option. For a starter, try the sea-salt entrusted tofu special if it;s available that night; the waiter recommended it to us once and, despite my family not usually being huge fans of tofu, we’ve been hooked ever since! The summer rolls and mesculin house salad are also tasty. The ambience is classy, and a very good place for a special occasion or just a weekend night out. The waiters are friendly, and the service is great(although occasionally I’ve experienced the kitchen getting a little backed up). Make sure to call ahead for reservations on weekends, as there is often a wait and little room for waiting. Overall, this is one of my favorite spots! The food is flavorful, unique and delicious.

My first visit was great! For appetizers my party and I went with the Crispy Wontons & the Dim Sum Sampler. The Dim Sum Sampler included a mushroom pepper salad, golden bags, chicken curry dumplings and mushroom leek dumplings. Our appetizers came out at a timely manner and we’re very tasteful! No bad comments. For our entrees I ordered the Crabmeat & shrimp stir-fry Jasmine rice which was freaking delicious! For fried rice, it was not oily and it was delicious! My party ordered the Seafood Pasta & he enjoyed it. There was a good portion of seafood on his plate & not strictly all pasta or veggies. Given that our appetizers & entrees were good we decided to order dessert. Not bad either, had the Oreo Mousse. The best part was the service. The food was great but the service was outstanding; a key factor for customers. See you guys soon, you just earned yourself a regular!

I had ordered takeout and I must say the food was pretty good. I had ordered rice vermicelli with chicken and two vegetable rolls. My takeout came with utensils and some chopsticks as well. The place look clean and the hostess was really nice. I would def come back again.

We came here for dinner and loved it! All of the items on the menu sounded delicious. We started off with the Quy-Bau Golden Bags and Vietnamese Summer Rolls. Both were delicious! The golden bags were a bit smaller then I expected but were very filling. The summer rolls were fresh and the peanut sauce it came with was flavorful. As our entrée my boyfriend ordered the wok, shrimp, scallop and beef. I ordered phở tai chin. The wok shrimp, scallop and beef was very tasty and the phở was awesome! For dessert we shared a vanilla bean crème brûlée. Our service was very good. Someone was always attending to us the second we needed something and they were very polite. This place is definitely a new favorite, I will be visiting again very soon.
