Dropped in for dinner a few nights ago, and had a great time. Been going here for a while but just got around to writing it up. Love the bread! Every time they bake it here and it is awesome! There pastas are amazing as well. I prefer the fish here too. And the service was great, we always get such nice service here, love Whitney and Calla especially. We have been coming here since they opened and the service is nice

Food was very good and interesting but perhaps a bit overpriced I am giving it 2 stars because of the service, which others have alluded to in reviews. I just don’t get why they can’t hire a few more staff. The waiters were never around and had to be called on like 10 times throughout the meal. They looked overworked and completely disorganized while the runner brought the wrong dishes like 3 times. The funniest part of the evening was when they brought us bread 30 minutes after we sat down and placed our orders. Jokingly I said to my friends«now that we ordered I guess they can bring the bread.» But, it wasn’t a joke. They actually have a policy that the waiters can’t bring bread to the table until the entire table has ordered their entire meal. Do they really think people are going to sit down, eat bread and then change their minds about eating there? I have never heard of such a thing. Great food, very strange culture.

I don’t repeat brunch places often but I would definitely make a point to come here again. If it wasn’t for the service, I would give this place 5 stars. The food was great, the restaurant aesthetic is beautiful, and contrary to the Unilocal $$$ I think their brunch is pretty affordable. More like $$ in my opinion. I ordered the duck pastrami hash($ 15) and it was delicious. Succulent, well balanced, and though it looks like a small portion, it was very filling. Other things ordered at the table were the fried egg sandwich($ 12) and the portobello, goat cheese omelet($ 12) which were also great. I was impressed with how fluffy the omelet was. I hate when places are«hit or miss» but I’m pretty confident I could order anything off the brunch menu and be happy. Lastly, the service was just OK. Our waiter was very distracted and it would take asking several times for more water or the check before he would actually bring us anything.

Nice ambiance, located right by base of WBurg bridge, it was so nice walking home to Manhattan after this meal. Once again my theory that if I love the bread, I will like the meal came true. The rolls had flavor of a biscuit with the texture of a soft roll right out of the oven. With excellent butter and sea salt — these were delicious. Best dish was the pasta with truffle sauce and hen of woods mushrooms. Bursting with flavor — pasta was cooked to perfection — only complaint is it was too salty. Other dish was rather average. I rate it as a pretty good place worth trying.

Ask for Joaquin at the bar. He will climb up the ladder and fresh pick ingredients for your drink for you. I hated mezcal before Joaquin, but he changed my mind in one night. Eat the crispy baby artichokes, the cavatelli, and the hanger steak. They were each so good, it was hard to share.

Delicious! Came here for brunch Saturday morning — had the Smoked Salmon/Cream Cheese omelet. It was so good! The place is really cute, and they have outdoor seating :) Will definitely be back!

Delicious! Fast service on a Friday at 7:30, amazing bread and butter(what a thing to say, but it’s their«secret weapon») attentive staff and excellent food. Appetizers and shares decidedly superior to entrées, but all are strong. Apple dessert unique and wonderful. Overall a superlative experience.

I came here for lunch. The hostess was a bit rude. She let out an audible sigh and grumpily said, «this way». Our experience with the waitress was better. The doughnut starter was amazing. The unlimited drip coffee was very good too. The duck pastrami was mediocre(mostly potatoes). The poached eggs were overcooked. The yolk was pretty solid. The flourless chocolate cake special was too rich. It was similar to having a huge piece of fudge. The gelato was good. I really wanted to like this place. I’ll be back to give dinner a try but I won’t go around advertising this place as awesome or even good.

Brunch was fantastic in terms of presentation, freshness & portion size. Recommend duck confit, huevos rancheros(curried) & their lattes and teas! What i respected most was that our waitress let us know in advance that they were understaffed– this way we knew what was taking so long! Though dinner is more expensive, theyve kept the brunch prices very competitive.

I recently had the opportunity to try the tasting menu at Meadowsweet. Below are my thoughts. Positives –Excellent and creative mixed drinks, well thought out and nicely presented –I am not usually a dessert person but everything was amazing! The apple fritter thing was glorious and the ice cream/gelato on the side of the chocolate cake was the best part! –Didn’t think you could dress up raw oysters that much but they executed it perfectly Negatives –The salad course was overdressed. Could not taste the actual leaves under the ton of dressing that they put on it. –Pasta dish was to salty –Although it happens, the waitress spilled my entire glass of water on me. Not cool but also not the biggest deal. –Lets try and put at least two slices of Duck Breast on the plate next time, my friends got the steak and they had two slices Overall I would go back to Meadowsweet but would probably skip the tasting menu next time.

Their menu is seasonal, so I didn’t see many of the recommended dishes on the menu when we arrived for dinner. But oh, did we eat well! My friend inhaled the red snapper dish, my other friend loved the pork loin, my other half’s wagyu steak was like buttah deliciousness, and finally my dish, the duck breast? It was INCREDIBLE. Also, their bread was oh-so-amazing. We also splurged and ordered all the desserts(oink) — the chocolate cake, apple tart and panna cotta. The apple tart was the most loved out of the three. The only feedback I’d give is around the noise level and the so-so service. I couldn’t hear anything my server said, none of us could. So we never really knew what the specials were for that night. Also, it took awhile to flag someone down to order dessert, and to pay our final bill.

I’ve passed by Meadowsweet on my way to other restaurants and bars in the area before, but paid no mind to it. After lastnight’s dinner, I am recommending this to all my friends who are looking for a great meal in this area. Every single dish we had here was unique and full of flavor: crispy baby artichokes, burrata, fettucine nero & squid(my favorite, but it was hard to choose a favorite among so many tasty dishes), St. Louis ribs, LI duck breast, salmon tartare, and duck confit with lentils are all worth trying and sharing with a group of 6 – 8. Service here was great and the restaurant is small, nicely lit, and well decorated. I highly recommend this place for a date or group dinner.

Not planed to eat here however discovered this small place on my way to grab bagel hence decided to give a try for brunch. Meadowsweet does not have a huge brunch menu — mainly omelette/bagel/burger type of traditional American dishes; however it has proved its own characteristic. I especially enjoyed my omelette(with mushroom), which was soft and flavorful. I personally do not like the omelette cooked too greasy or too big in size — this one is perfect for me! Heard the tasting menu to be a good bargain — would love to try it out and upgrade my review. It is Michelin one-star by the way.

My husband treated me to Meadowsweet on my birthday. We indulged in their 5 course tasting menu, which seemed more like 7 courses. Well worth the price tag. Meadowsweet is a Michelin Star restaurant, and it is easy to taste why… even the bread and fresh herb butter is outstanding. The atmosphere is casual, yet refined. The food is innovated, and the expensive cocktails are well worth the price… and very addictive. They grow their own herbs on site, and you can taste the freshness in each perfectly executed dish. Do not pass up the oysters, they are fantastic.

I used up all my «sweet» puns on my previous review, so I won’t make any for this one. Despite being a nature lover, I’m just not a fan of this meadow and don’t get where the Michelin star came from. My brunch-based experience netted a smoked salmon and potato pancake with poached eggs and mixed greens entrée that was burned, flavorless and dull; along, with a hash and chorizo combo that could have been found at any ethnic diner in the city. The house cocktail of the day – the Brunch Punch – was all right, but not very memorable either. The décor is lovely, and the service is nice, but I won’t be trekking out to this under-developed part of Billyburg for brunch again anytime soon.

I went here yesterday for the first time for some brunch with friends. The space is super cute and we sat right next to the window, which provided a ton of natural sunlight. We all started with the brunch punch that came in the most adorable crystal cut punch glasses. The punch was fruity and delicious without being overly sweet. Great alternative to the brunch classic, mimosas. I ordered the duck confit hash with poached eggs. The duck was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It was served with the perfect amount of potatoes to make the meal hearty, but not overly filling. The eggs were cooked to perfected and oozed over the hash. We ended our meal with splitting the doughnuts. They were covered in cinnamon sugar and served with a velvet-y caramel sauce. Overall, this was a great way to start my Saturday. I look forward to returning and trying more of the menu.

This place is amazing. Tucked away in south Williamsburg with a pretty unsuspecting storefront and a few tables outside for al fresco dining in the summer, the food at this place is really just SOAMAZING that I’m shocked it’s not more crowded more often. I’ve come here a couples times, once for the prix fixe(which is a BOMBDEAL) and for their regular menu and everything that I’ve had here is good. An interesting thing that they did the last time I came for the prix fixe was that served me and my husband two completely different dishes which gave us a chance to try a lot of different things from the menu. Their menu has a lot of different types of dishes(and dishes that are vegetarian friendly) and all the dishes that I had were really well balanced. I’ve never had an oyster here that I didn’t love, the rolls are to die for(break your no carb rule for this one, seriously), their pastas are delicious and in reasonable portions if you want a smaller main dish. I’ve also had the steak and duck confit, all of which blew me away. To go along with all this great food, they have a tasty cocktail menu as well. Service has always been really pleasant. If I had to complain about anything at all, I would say that their AC inside the restaurant is kinda strong so bring a cardi if you’re a girl in a cute dress on a date. But really, I mean I threw that last one in there just for good measure so you guys would know that I’m a real human being and not just writing shill for this place. I almost didn’t want to review this place so you people wouldn’t know about this gem, but sharing is caring and I’m a caring kind of person. xo

Simple dishes done extremely well. We visited meadowsweet for our 2nd anniversary and were very pleased with the relaxed atmosphere yet beautiful décor, superb staff, and delicious food. This is the type of place with few dishes prepared with minimal added ingredients and honed in on optimal flavor. My kind of place. My husband and I created our own tasting menu which the waiter brought out as courses. We had the crispy artichoke salad, day boat scallops, tajarin with black truffle, hanger steak with arugula pesto and roasted carrots with labneh and zaatar. Everything and I mean everything was delicious. The scallop was as simple as two scallops with Fava beans and peas, but it was cooked perfectly and of quality ingredients. This is why this place stands out. I’m a big texture person and the texture of everything was great, from the hand rolled pasta to the tenderness of the carrots. I felt the prices however were extremely high for what is given. I know it’s fine dining but for $ 16 I could count the artichoke pieces on one hand and it frankly was not enough food. And two scallops for $ 17? Ludicrous. The tajarin was done in two mouthfuls. We left satisfied but definitely expected more. We shared the blueberry crumble for dessert and it was out of this world delicious. Perfect balance and some of the tastiest freshest berries I’ve had. And adding lemon curd was a perfect touch. I would come back because I loved everything about this place, despite its steepness. The manager even brought us free prosecco in celebration of our anniversary and took multiple pictures of us with our phones. Such a warm and inviting experience that I know meadowsweet will be calling me back soon.

The more I venture into Williamsburg the more I’m growing to love the area. It’s the new hip place to open restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques etc. The BF surprised me for the evening and took me to Meadowsweet, a delightful place that just earned their first Michelin star and is located across the street from Peter & Luger(a new bucket list place). The menu at Meadowsweet is perfect for sharing small plates between two people or a small group. There are some larger plates, however when the small plates are so extraordinary who wants to limit themselves to one entrée when I can choose four small plates and taste them all. The menu changes daily, however there are some menu staples that continue to appear with subtle variations. The crispy baby artichoke dish was light and refreshing and the combination of the peppery arugula with the creamy garlic dressing was divine and an excellent way to start the evening. We also sampled the Peekytoe Crab cakes with tomatillo salsa verde and avocado. This was by far one of my favorite dishes of the night. The tomatillo salsa was perfection and had just a hint of cilantro that combined with the avocado and crab was truly a sensational bite. Without a doubt Meadowsweet also has the best Spanish Octopus dish I have ever tasted. Octopus is one of those items that if it’s on a menu I have to have it. It was an extraordinary preparation and if it ever appears on the menu again I will order two and they will both be for me, no sharing and no apology. For our last savory dish we also shared a homemade pasta which was also excellent and perfect for sharing. For dessert we shared a sweet corn flavored cake that had just a hint of sweetness and an authentic corn flavor throughout. It is a unique dessert that I will remember forever. Meadowsweet has a gorgeous interior space with beautiful hexagonal tiles on the floor giving it that old school feel. A small bar area up front and towards the back a romantic dining atmosphere for couples to enjoy quiet conversations. Service was exceptional from the hostess to our server, we were taken care of through the entire evening. Meadowsweet makes my top 5 list of New York dining destinations and I can’t wait to return again, maybe I’ll see you there.

I’d visited Meadowsweet once before in its prior incarnation at a time when it was still known as The Dressler. After a series of tragic occurrences, including the death of well-loved restaurateur Colin Devlin, the Dressler’s chef Polo Dobkin and his wife Stephanie Lempert took over the space. They outfitted the space with a brighter, airier ambiance, renamed it Meadowsweet, and created a menu that featured modern American fare with plenty of Mediterranean influences. In that same year, the restaurant took back its Michelin star and became yet another Williamsburg success story. The earliest occasion I could visit was one weekend afternoon, when a friend and I were looking for a space for a casual brunch. Meadowsweet was an easy choice, especially as they had just rolled out their brunch menu. On the day of, I was the first to arrive, and the hostess was quick to seat me, even though my friend had yet to arrive. I was able to settle in and peruse the menu and once we both were present, had our orders taken with ease. I went with a simple Chorizo Hash and Poached Eggs, a dish that took a serving of well-spiced chorizo over a bed of potatoes and topped it off with two poached eggs and a lightly dressed salad. The potatoes were crispy and lightly seasoned, but I was a little dismayed to find a significant amount of moisture had seeped out from the chorizo mixture, which rendered a good portion of the salad leaves soggy. Thankfully, the eggs were perfectly poached, and the runny yolks contrasted smartly with a tomatillo salsa verde, which made for an overall balanced dish. While tasty, it wasn’t particularly memorable, and not as filling as I’d expected. I feel a little divided leaving this review, as brunch is not one of the best meals to judge the caliber of a restaurant by. For those looking for a reasonably-priced restaurant for a brunch that won’t be rowdy or rushed, Meadowsweet will definitely fit the bill. However, I can’t say for sure whether or not the food is up to par until I make a return visit for dinner, especially as the restaurant recently launched a 5-course dinner for $ 65 available on Sunday-Thursday evenings.
