I went with a group on vacation and we had a great dinner. I had lamb chops which is not something I can find at home. The food was great but the service was even better. If you want a nice meal go to Fireside chophouse.

Absolutely terrible… don’t let the nice sign out front fool you. The food was disgusting.

Can’t believe the ratings are so low — definitely not our experience! we had a great meal and great time! Waiter Brian was fabulous — prime rib was some of the best husband and son have ever had(and they have had a lot of good prime rib), other son had lamb chops — excellent. Yes, the space is old but the food was far better than at the«chains» that have taken over the area… we would highly recommend and ask for Brian!

Ate prime rib dinner here 19.95 or larger 24.95 includes salad, potato and bread buns. Prime rib was absolutely delicious. Salad was good. Baked potato add your own butter/sour cream, mashed add butter, or fries your own catsup. Dessert choco pecan pie just okay. Apple pie was the better of the two. Service was good. Parking lot outside self service. Décor may need a little updating.

Recommended by Springhill Suites, and I don’t know why. Maybe someone knows someone there. The hostess was neutral at best, and the waiter was downright unaccomodating. My daughter asked to switch a side and he said no. Then he said he could get broccoli, and she got green beans. Twenty-one bucks for steak au poivre that was really steak with brown gravy. Two yellow sides: squash and sweet potatoes that couldn’t be changed? Overpriced. Not the worst we’ve seen, so it gets two stars.

Great food, and a cute little spot. I order the prime rib, and it was melt in your mouth delicious. I was cooked to the perfect medium rare that I like, and all I remember was needing a nap after I finished my meal.

This place has great food. I don’t now why it’s not rated better. Service always excellent, great food, and we eat there every time we’re in Williamsburg.

Server was great but food was very bland at best. Wish I would have checked Unilocal reviews Before we went there. Very disappointed I would give one star for the food & atmosphere but I’m giving 2 bc the server was fantastic!

After reading previous reviews, I was a bit concerned when I walked in and there was no hostess. I was expecting some of the previously advertised bad service, but that was not the case. I believe it was the manager who seated me, and he was very nice. My waitress Alexandra was very sweet and checked in with me numerous times during my meal. I started with the beef vegetable soup, which was a very hearty portion. Lots of potatoes and carrots in there. It was a good size considering the heartiness of it. The salad was cute. It was served on an appetizer plate. It was more of a sample salad than a side salad. That didn’t bother me. I don’t go to steakhouses for their side salads. The rolls that came with it tasted a little stale, but I had to eat 3 of them to make sure of what I was tasting. I ordered the filet mignon with mashed potatoes. It also came with maybe 4 cooked carrot sticks. Those were fine, but they didn’t add anything to the plate. The potatoes were good, creamy with a nice touch of garlic. For me, a steakhouse rises or falls based upon the quality of the meat. My filet was seasoned well. I ordered it medium, but the chef clearly didn’t know what that meant. One end of it was more medium well while the middle of it was more medium rare. I got a hot red center as opposed to a hot pink center. It got a bit chewy in places too. This is filet that cost $ 24.99 on the menu. I had a gift certificate, so it cost me nothing. However, I would not have been happy if it was costing me money. I get a better filet at Longhorn Steakhouse than I had here. So, the meat itself was a let down. I ordered the apple pie for dessert, which was served very hot with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with caramel. This was very good although as it cooled the crust got a little bit tough. Overall, it was satisfying. My experience was satisfactory. I would come back and try something else, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for a return trip. Definitely not anywhere near as bad as some of the other reviews have made it out to be. However, if you come to Williamsburg and don’t come here, you will not have missed out on anything.

Tried calling in for takeout at this establishment. Was told my order was too large and they would not allow a takeout order over $ 100. Spent my money elsewhere.

Tourist trap – don’t bother! Went here with my family in late June after deciding from the exterior that it might be a nice place. Why oh why didn’t I check Unilocal? We were greeted in a curt manner before being led to a table next to a high traffic doorway. The server was sweet but tried to take my plate repeatedly during both courses before I’d finished my food… if you can call what I was served food. I ordered grilled jumbo shrimp and a baked potato. The entrée is served with a house salad. First of all, the salad is served on an appetizer plate… how economical of this establishment. The greens were limp, the tomatoes were pink, and the dressing was runny. Yum! Then came the«jumbo» shrimp. Not even close. Five shrimp next to some oddly placed carrot shavings, which I supposed to be a garnish. The shrimp had been butterflied to make them appear larger, and they were as chewy as what I’d imagine an old boot would be. They lacked flavor, seasoning, and any sort of personality that I expect shrimp to have. The potato was a standard baked potato wrapped in foil. I wasn’t asked if I wanted anything on it, so I just took the butter from the bread plate and used that. The bread was subpar as well. My son’s kid’s meal of chicken tenders and fries was served on appetizer plate, which I thought was weird. Does this place just not have regular dinner plates? My husband’s steak entrée was also less than satisfactory; tasteless, boring, and like the rest of the meal, way overpriced. Save your money. I’ve had better food at 7 – 11.

What a bad experience. My husband and our two small children were treated rudely by the host when arriving. We should have turned around there. We weren’t sure if it was because we had kids with us or what. Once we were seated, we were ignored for 15 minutes before being served. Our sides with our mediocre meals were 2 baby carrots that looked like they were taken out of can. We Will not ever return to this place. My family has never felt so mistreated.

Over priced. Service wasn’t that good. They didn’t really seemed concerned with making us happy. I got the prime rib, it was OK. Atmosphere was boring and didn’t really make me think of a nice steak chop house. We won’t be going back. I gave it 2 stars because no one had to send anything back.

I honestly dont know if the food is any good because we didnt stay long enough to order. there was bugs on the table and one was stuck under my glass, all the glasses were dirty a/c unit was dripping water down on my son the waiter got upset because of a quick question because it interrupted his monotone 8hr monologue. The prices looked way to high for that kind of experience.

The experience that my family and I had was quite enjoyable, contrary to what others experienced. We did not have a reservation and even though we had a party of 8, they had no problem accommodating us. Our waiter Brian was fantastic as well, constantly checking in us throughout our dinner. All the meals that we ordered was great. My mother ordered the crab cakes, my sister and I had the filet mignon, my wife and brother-in-law had the rainbow stuffed trout. Even my kids had no complaints about their burgers. The prices were reasonable as well. If we are ever in Williamsburg again, we will definitely put this in our list to patronize.

Food — Price point is way higher than the quality. If I wanted to pay $ 100,000 for a Yugo and feel like I’m getting a deal I’d probably go there to eat a lot. I ordered a porterhouse and got a t-bone. I’m not sure if this was an intentional thing or not, but honestly, yes there’s a big difference when I’m paying for porterhouse prices. Oddly there was an unexpected side of carrots on both me and my wife’s plate. We’re not sure where it came from, but it wasnt really but a few slices, sort’ve odd. I really got the feeling from this place that they dont care too much for their customers. Service — It was ok. Everything was as expected and came out in a timely manner. I’ve seen other reviews expressing poor service, but we did not receive any. The waiter was a bit of a curmudgeon, but in a slightly charming /character-esque way. So we were fine with him. Atmosphere — This restaurant tried really hard to have an air of old world steakhouse classiness. It almost succeded, but it couldnt really hold a candle to a PJ Clarkes or Uncle Jack’s. Overall — I would rather go to Outback. You’ll get better tasting food and more bang for your buck. You won’t find me in this place again unless some major revamping goes on.

The dining room is small with a ton of tables too close to one another. You can easily hear everyone else’s conversation, but amazingly not have difficulty hearing your own. So, it wasn’t loud in there. But it’s not quite intimate enough for a date. Tasty steak. Flavorful, perfectly seared scallops.(And I’m an expert; I watch a lot of Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen.) Nice dinner service. The only reason I wouldn’t return is because I’d probably drive right by it again. It doesn’t stand out on the road of a hundred other restaurants. I don’t know why…
