Great place to stop in Williamsburg. Good café upstairs and nice area to relax in between site seeing in Colonial area.

We stopped in to use the restroom and purchase(a limited selection of) Starbucks beverages on a screamin’ hot Virginia August day. That«Shaken» iced tea sure did hit the spot. Water in, Water out.

This is a decently-stocked bookstore that is organized and neat. It features a Starbucks upstairs and downstairs it has an expansive collection of William and Mary merchandise that is marked up higher than it should be! The cashier didn’t know that the Stamp Act had been repealed and insisted on charging me tax on two United States postage stamps because she did not know how to ring them up otherwise. Pretty ironic thing to occur in Colonial Williamsburg! We like to sit under the umbrellas in the front or peruse the magazines upstairs in the seating area.

It’s your standard Barnes & Noble affiliated bookstore. They’ve got a great selection of books and William & Mary merch. The sales seem to be a little better than normal B&Ns but it could be the post Christmas/New Years stuff? The café is your normal B&N café and the staff all over the place are really nice and happy to help if you need it.

Very good selection of books. I was surprised the section on Colonial Williamsburg & Virginia was not larger, but then again there may not be many books on the subject. They also have a small section dedicated to local writers. In typical Barnes & Noble fashion everything is pretty expensive. When we walked in though they have a good amount of books for buy two get one free or for 20% off. Once we found the clearance section we realized we hit gold. I purchased three books for $ 25 — all gifts for family & friends.

I’m primarily basing this review on the café upstairs. We didn’t actually buy anything at the bookstore. Located conveniently right next to Colonial Williamsburg, the Starbucks in here is a welcome relief to tourists who have been walking around in the sweltering heat for hours. It’s a nice place to sit and relax and stay out of the sun for a bit. We got waters and also little stromboli-like sandwiches. The food/water is on the pricey side, but is probably a better bet than getting water/snacks in Colonial Williamsburg itself.

Its a B&N book store. However it is loaded with tons of informative books on Colonial Williamsburg and William & Mary College. I Stopped in to get some goodies for back home and scored a Stamp Act t-shirt that was on sale! You know the Stamp Act of 1765… the tax that imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. Ship’s papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards. Then repealed in 1766. DUH! Yeah I knew you knew that. Just checking. Peace!

OK, yes, it’s a B&N, but my favorite part – you can buy Colonial Williamsburg books(cookbooks, guide books, etc.) here, and get your B&N card discount!

As far as college bookstores go, this one is pretty decent. It is spacious and carries the prereq school swag, textbooks and dorm stuff. Besides being basically a Barnes and Noble, my biggest complaint has always been the layout of the store. I have always felt it didn’t seem like it was really planned to have a flow.

When the W&M Bookstore opened my senior year, we rejoiced. Finally. Finally. A place to hang out and be tragically hip with a cup of coffee and some friends. A place to perpetuate our belief that we were oh-so intellectual with our copies of «Leaves of Grass» and«The Psychology of Close Relationships.» The old bookstore sucked because it was small and cramped and had nothing but textbooks and W&M Beanie Babies. The bookstore is a Barnes & Noble, so no bonus points for the indie thing. But… then again, it means the store is always stocked with the latest releases, and that the inventory is huge and varied. It also means there’s hardly ever a shortage of textbooks, which are all housed in the basement level. There is an *abundance* of W&M gear here. Everything from your standard hoodies and track pants to playing cards, license plate holders, captains chairs, and foam fingers. You can get the W&M or Tribe logo on just about anything humanly conceivable. A lot of it is really nice, too. There is a plethora of Williamsburg merchandise as well. Same idea as the W&M stock. Upstairs — along with typical non-book stuff you see at a typical B&N — is the café, «proudly» brewing Starbucks coffee. Again, no bonus points for fueling the corporate machine. But there are tables and chairs for showcasing your latest Mac laptop along with your genius-making textbooks. I know it’s cheesy and corporate, but I ALWAYS stop in here on a trip back to Williamsburg for nostalgia’s sake and usually end up with yet another W&M logo’ed item.
