My husband and I wanted to dine in this great Williamsburg area after we shopped and chose this place due to the beer selection. On a Friday evening they were busy and we wanted to sit outside so we put out name on the list and they texted us when a table was ready. In the meantime we walked across the street and browsed and shared a cheese platter at the The Cheese Shop. We should have just stayed there or went to the Fat Canary instead. The server recommended the Friday special of Fish Stew which I ordered and my husband had the lamb burger. His entrée came out and was fine but nothing special but the Fish Stew was probably the worst dish I’ve ever gotten in a restaurant. It was basically two shrimp, five mussels, a piece of fish and hot water. The piece of toast on top was the best part. There absolutely no flavor in this soup and it was really terrible. We ended up staying to watch a game at the bar which was a lot better. The bartenders were great, very skilled and very knowledgable. He even made me an espresso martini that was not on the menu but was absolutely the best I ever had. Overall probably OK to stop and have a couple drinks but nothing more.

Small food menu but everything is amazing! try the hummus to start. Had the Curry and it was amazing. Sometimes its hard to find a place to sit. But wait is well worth it.

Fun atmosphere, huge beer menu and good pub food. Calamari is great. Burgers are awesome. Nightly specials were delicious. Kids menu was substantial and very reasonably priced. We came back several times during our vacation. Highly recommend. One negative was the Mulligatawny soup: no flavor.

Food is amazing. Had the red potato and crab cakes and the girlfriend had the brick chicken. Brad and Frank were friendly and attentive. Amazing beer selection both bottles and cans. If you find yourself in the area stop in for a bite and a pint.

Maybe people like this place for the beer, but here’s one for the food, because that’s all we got. The menu is pretty much variations of «a meat and cheese sandwich» for about $ 15. The $ 9 salad I got was smaller than most restaurants’ side salads. Most of us at the table couldn’t even finish our food — the chicken caesar wrap was particularly gross. If you’re drinking enough that you don’t care about the taste of your food, I guess this place would be good? Would never recommend this to anyone paying a visit to Williamsburg.

I eat & drink at DOG St. Pub often and its always been good, most recently the trecce pasta as suggested by my server. It was SO. GOOD. Nice ambiance though the place tends to be noisy as there is no sound absorption happening. Huge selection of beers and good food.

Awesome awesome awesome!!! We ordered the prime rib and shepherds pie. The prime rib was delicious, tender, moist and so flavorful. My husband really enjoyed the shepherds pie too. Our waiter was perfect! I wouldn’t change a thing. Next time I would want to try their fries. I love thick fries!

Great place. It wasn’t crowded but we came for an early dinner. I thing this place gets very busy later. I’m sure it’s busy during the summer.

Stopped by here for a much needed lunch after a 5.5 hour drive from NJ. I thought the prices were a little steep for what you get. My tuna wrap with an olive spread was actually very nice. Worth 13 bucks? Idk about that. A very eclectic beer selection and friendly service were also were noting about our experience here. The ambiance was nice and our server offered to split checks immediately which is always appreciated. I’m assuming that since the location is in the heart of tourist-ville, the prices were what they were. I’d stop in for just a glass of wine or beer before I get anything for lunch again.

I have been to DoG St. Pub a few time and have always enjoyed the dining experience and atmosphere. Centrally located in CW, it offers outdoor and indoor seating with surprisingly high ceilings and bright, basement section. I would recommend the shared plates especially the mussels, if looking for a lighter alternative to the traditional comfort foods. I wish the menu would change seasonally or more frequently to add variation and non-fried fish options. Overall, a bit pricey for the type of food, although the ambience is nice.

Overall, having not ordered any food, I can only highly recommend the DoG Street Pub as a great spot for after dinner drinks. The wide selection, especially of beer, is simply fantastic, the staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Try it out!

Rude and lazy hostess and servers. Asked to be outside in the shade and hostess said I should ask the server to move the umbrella. I found a seat around the corner nicely shaded and asked a girl who brought a drink to another table if it’s OK to sit in the shaded spot and she told me to go inside and ask the hostess — as the girl opened the door to go inside and walk right in front of the hostess. No smiles, no accommodation to my needs and wants, and a full 10 minutes and still no server. The two server guys were at the back of the courtyard chatting away about something. I left.

I’ve been to Dog Street Pub, and it’s always been a pretty solid experience. I love that you can make reservations here. It’s actually a pretty big space that goes a lot further back than I realized and they do have a downstairs basement area. They have always seated us promptly once we got there. Service is always decent, really just depends on who you get. But I’ve never really had a problem here, even when my group of friends and I stayed almost to closing. The food is good. REALLY good. I’ve only had the Dog Street Burger, but that burger is FANTASTIC. It comes with this delicious sauce that I throw on my burger and dip my fries in it. I tried the Shepherd’s Pie, and I will definitely get it next time. They have butterbeer here too! There’s an adult version with rum and a kid’s version. My friend’s make fun of me for getting the kid’s version, but it’s so damn good, that I don’t really care. It’s hot apple cider with caramel butter mixed in all in a metal mug. A+ in my book. The bar does seem a little slow at times. Sometimes different food runners have no idea where they’re going and just bring food to every table till they find the right one. There are plenty of parking lots around the area, so it’s not too much trouble. The main floor has a better ambiance than the basement level. It’s pretty crowded on a Friday/Saturday night for dinner, so I recommend making reservations!

We stopped in here for drinks and dessert after dinner. The building is really cool and we found out it was originally a bank renovated into a restaurant. The drinks seemed a bit pricey and so did my $ 8 piece of chocolate cake. The restaurant was busy and had a nice vibe.

While on a family trip with my mother to Colonial Williamsburg, the both of us found ourselves starving and while all the other restaurants in the area had lines of people waiting 30 – 45 minutes to be seated, DoG Street Pub was able to seat us right then(should have been our first alarm). From the moment, we initially encountered the waitstaff I did not feel that they were paying attention to us. The young lady took our drink order(two glasses of water, one with lemon, one plain) and ventured off returning 10 minutes later apologizing to us for forgetting what we had ordered. We re-ordered our drinks and quickly ordered an appetizer of Fried Green Tomatoes and our main courses of a Corish Pasty and a Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad. After what seemed like 10 more minutes the couple next to us that were seated after we received their meals and we finally received our waters and the Fried Green Tomatoes. I was expecting a traditional order of Fried Green Tomatoes consisting of a sliced order of at least equal to or greater than a whole tomato, yet we received 3 slices. The Fried Green Tomatoes were served with bacon, goat cheese & arugula. The tomatoes were undercooked and were not ripe, so they tasted greasy and lacked any flavor. Becuase they were served undercooked the arugula was filled with grease and wilted. This was a visually appealing dish with absolutely no flavor. I would give it a 3 out of 10 stars. Horrible attempt at an appetizer. Twenty minutes later we received our main dishes, mine was the Cornish Pasty which was meat filled and served with field greens and pickled onions. The bright spot of this dish was the pickled onions. The Pasty was soggy and the meat filling was flavorless, it was as if they used too much flour in the thickening of the gravy based filing. The field greens were ok, but it did not save the failure of the Pasty. 5⁄10. My mother had the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad which she gave a 7/10, her comment is that it is really hard to screw up a salad. Maybe my food palette is more advanced than the average person, or maybe I just expect to get the food that I am paying for not food that has no taste or is undercooked. The management should provide their employees with some quality assurance on the food leaving the kitchen. Try tasting what you are serving once in a while.

This was originally going to be a scathing, 1 star review based on an excruciatingly long wait for food to be delivered where a certain reviewer(me) may have said, in a hangry state, he would rather eat at a fast food chain where you can have it your way, than wait any longer. I’m so glad I didn’t. The manager, Amy, completely turned the night around. I ate a perfectly cooked burger, and my wife ordered, in my opinion, the best shepherd’s pie I’ve ever tasted. Seriously, it was amazing. They even brought out this unreal sticky toffee pudding that we couldn’t back away from. The beer selection alone is reason to go in, but I have to commend the management for addressing an issue head on. Thank you; I’ll be back for more.

While I LOVE, I repeat LOVE the Reuben croquettes, the rest of our food was average. The beer list is amazing but unfortunately, our waiters didn’t seem to know enough about the list or beer to answer our questions. This is unfortunate since they are connected to a bottle shop that has some of the best people in the industry for talking beer. Perhaps some cross-training would prove useful. This place is almost always packed and lively and other than lack of beer knowledge our service was friendly and prompt until we wanted to pay and had to go in search of someone. I would bring people back here mainly to explore the beer menu some more and eat more the awesome croquettes.

First time I visited Williamsburg, and I was recommended to visit the DoG Street Pub. Great food, fantastic beers, amazing atmosphere! The Reuben Croquettes are highly recommended!!! They used to be a late night appetizer, but have been so popular they are now a regular menu item. I will most definitely be returning to this place!

What Great find!!! First… The beer selection is unbelievable! I never saw so many different types of beers. You walk into their open room bar. There is dining in the bar and in the back dining room. There is also dining in the lower room as well. The atmosphere is casual and there are plenty of tv’s too. The food was extremely delicious, plentiful and prepared with care. I had the lamb burger… yummy and juicy! We also ordered the eggplant sandwiches which were also outstanding. We also ordered the cheeseburger as well… juicy and delicious and the special mayo that out came with was great! I am so excited about the Dog Street pub. We have been coming here for 15 years and this is our first time here… and well be back many times in the future!!! This Is a must stop, right in merchants square in Colonial Williamsburg!
