Wanted to eat breakfast here. The’ve moved from their old funky location. We called. They gave us the new address which curiously was not on their sign at the old location. We go there and they were not serving breakfast. Would of been nice if they had informed us of this when we called them. Would of given them one star but they were apologetic. They suggested the Old Chickahominy House. Seems like a better choice anyway.

We were put off by the outside of the Williamburg location. I can only say that their building of being a good seedy hotel was threatening to those in our group. We all got the lentil Buger and all were pleased. We got cookies and enjoyed them from the bakery. It is a funky interior but we were glad we stopped. Love it!

PG: this place gives new meaning to a whole in the wall. It was in an old motel, but don’t be afraid, it’s the best motel food I’ve ever had. The carrot salad was great(and Gluten Free I might add), the Turkey wrap was awesome and the carrot cake cupcake was the BOMB. Be prepared to wait, the minimal staff didn’t seem to have it all together. Worth the wait though!

Had 1607 salad sampler and a slice of carrot cake. Both were excellent. Nice atmosphere. Good prices. Would definitely go again if/when in the area, maybe having two desserts and skipping sandwich soup and/or salad(great dessert selection)

This is a quaint little hidden gem. I would have never known about if it wasn’t for my fellow Unilocalers. We stopped in to try them out for lunch and were not disappointed. We were greeted with pleasant smiles and were seated right away. The dining area is not very large but it was a chilly day and they had the Woodstove burning and was nice and cozy. They have all there desserts displayed and are so tempting as you enter. The food was served fast and was very fresh. The service was excellent. The lunch specials come with a small dessert and they are just as good as they look. I have to say the carrot cake was probably one of the best I think I have ever had. This is definitely a stop you should make it you are in the area.

Delicious desserts and breads on their sandwich. Quinoa salad was a nice treat. Enjoyed the Brunswick stew and biscuits. All loved their desserts. Carrot cake especially!

The food was fair. The service was good. The carrot carrot cake was really good. The draft appearance of this place might shun most away as it should. The building is not well suited for a restaurant. When you are inside the place feels old, and looks old. The food was not memorable and most likely will not return for dinning in. We might pick up carrot cake. Overall not impressed. For the price we felt that the food quality should have been higher. Suggestion use higher quality foods and smaller portions.

Small, quaint, great service and a good selection for both breakfast and lunch. The cupcakes are amazingly fresh! The food selection is quality, fresh, artisan and affordable. A cold bar surrounds the inside with cupcakes, cakes, other baked good, quick lunches, pies and dinners Togo.

Don’t let the outside appearance of Carrot Tree deter you from visiting this quaint little spot. I’ve been to this place several times, for lunch and breakfast and I’m glad I’m finally reviewing it. For lunch, their sampler salad plate, chicken, tuna and ham salad is a Southern staple. Get it with their orzo pasta salad and ask for extra crackers, you’ll need them. If you haven’t had ham salad, just trust me, it’s good. Alternately I’ve had quiche of the day or the Wingfield. Breakfast, it’s just yummy, enjoy! Ham biscuits, quiche or grandaddys breakfast are all good. This is a quaint family restaurant, they offer old time sandwiches, with amazing baked goods up front to go. I always bring home a treat for my loves at home. The carrot cake cupcakes, YUM.

Simply good food. Don’t let the humble look deceive you, this place is great for a light lunch. Everything is fresh and made to order. I recommend the biscuits.

Perfect little lunch spot! We just finished seeing historic Jamestown and were wanting a light lunch before heading to Yorktown Battlefield. Since my fiancée is vegetarian, I figured a restaurant named The Carrot Tree was bound to have some vegetarian options, and we were not disappointed! The place is super quaint with great food and service. I wish I could remember the name of the girl that helped us but she was so friendly and made good recommendations. As we were leaving she was telling us the history of the restaurant and we had to take some carrot cake to go. I had the Turkey wrap and my fiancée had The Yorktown Onion. Both were fabulous, as was the spinach orzo. We left feeling good but not stuffed, as the portion sizes were just perfect. Trust me, CHECKTHISPLACEOUT!

Great find! Stopped by on our way to the Jamestown Settlement. The place is quirky and cute, keeping with the«carrot patch» theme without being overwhelming. It felt like a hidden gem to us tourists. The simplicity of the menu contributes to the quality. My Quarterhouse sandwich(roast beef) was beyond a simple sandwich. Fresh, innovative, and addictive, my only disappointment is that I live so far away! My friend declared that her tuna melt was«the best she has ever had in her life»!! And of course, the carrot cake. I contemplated buying a whole one to travel back with, that’s how much I loved it! Perfection! Do yourself a favor and go there, now!

The Carrot Tree is a favorite of my boyfriend’s, who grew up in the area, so on one of our last days in Virginia, we headed here with some friends. The restaurant itself doesn’t look like much at all; I’m pretty sure it’s just a converted motel. Will and I both ordered The Quartermaster, which is a roast beef sandwich on wheat, with melted Swiss, fried onions, and blue cheese. It comes with a side of delicious potato salad. We really should have just shared a sandwich, because while delicious, it left us with very little room for dessert. But that’s never stopped us before. We split a slice of carrot cake, which was so tasty, although I’ve had better frosting before. Still, I was super impressed with the Carrot Tree. If you’re in the area, it’s a solid choice.

GF items in the menu. Sandwiches can also be made with GF bread. We sat on the porch so the puppy didn’t have to be in the car; and they were very accommodating. Great service! Wonderful food! The waiter even brought the pooch some carrots!

About a 2.5: I’ve had Carrot Tree Kitchens on my list for quite a while, so I was really excited to finally try this place out! I was disappointed as I thought the staff would be a bit more welcoming and offer more suggestions on the baked items they offer :(There is a café off to the side, where you can dine in for breakfast as well(menus are available by the cabinet up at the front). The ‘bakery’ itself is very dimly-lit, and they offer saran-wrapped plastic plates of sliced carrot cakes and to-go boxes of samplers of their desserts. They also have whole cakes for purchase. Since I was already here, I bought a slice of their ‘famous’ carrot cake. I did ask whether they bake a fresh cake everyday, and the answer was quite ambiguous — that they bake fresh almost everyday… I had a feeling that it was at least a couple days old. Either way, the carrot cake itself was nutty and on the sweet side, with a thin layer of the cream cheese frosting. It’s an okay-tasting carrot cake, but with a combination of the experience and the vibe, it was just alright. I’m glad I was able to check this place out, but I don’t think I’ll be going back! +not-so-friendly staff +carrot cake(not so fresh) T___T
