Went to Hottle’s with my wife & mother last night. We hadn’t been there since it reopened. We were very glad we made the trip. The restaurant is in great shape, the service was top notch. But most of all the food was excellent! Will definately be returning soon. I would have given it 5 stars but for one very important safety issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. The customer parking lot across the street has very minimal lighting. If this was Wilkes-Barre 25 years ago, maybe it wouldn’t be a problem. But in 2016 it should be lit up. Take care of this safety issue and Hottle’s would be a 5 star in my book.

I offered to buy dinner for a friend in need in the Wilkes Barre area from long distance. She requested Hottle’s, which is a favorite for her. I called and spoke with Colleen who could not have been more sweet and helpful. She said they don’t deliver, but when I explained my situation, she immediately said she would arrange for my order to be delivered to my friend. Colleen made what could have been a complicated circumstance very simple. Clearly a caring business. I didn’t get the feeling they were going to be in the delivery business, but Colleen stepped up to help me out from afar. So appreciated! My friend called me and said the food was amazing and the portions so large she had leftovers, continuing to make things easier for her. Next time I return to the Wilkes-Barre area, I will be sure to stop in for dinner in person!

Great food! We went a few weeks ago. Good service and nice atmosphere. I had the orange roughy and it was fantastic(and hot). Wife had filet mignon that was better than any other. Our guests raved about their crabcakes and swordfish. Fresh veggies! Little pricy but we’ll definitely be back. Thanks for reopening!

Damn Shame. I was really excited to check this place out after it re-opened. I am afraid to say that I highly doubt I will return. The atmosphere is nice. It is clean and well lit. The service was good. My complaints are about the food. For the appetizer we ordered the clams casino. Gritty and mushy with very little taste. For dinner, I ordered the chicken parm. It was rubbery and the sauce had congealed. My companion had the roughy stuffed with crabmeat. It was served cold and was horrible. It used to be one of my favorite places to eat and this juts broke my heart.

We had dinner there last night and were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in. Despite not having a reservation and it being a busy Friday night we were seated right away. The service was prompt and the food was excellent! Our server was taking care of quite a few tables and one couple at a nearby table were very unpleasant. But the server handled them so graciously. Overall a wonderful experience. We will be back again!

Tried this a few months back… wasn’t impressed with new owners… gave it another try. Waited a very long time for entrees. Ordered citrus salmon with Carmelized glaze… first time it came out it was raw… and I don’t mean partially cooked… I mean raw on the plate. Baked potato was old and brown inside. Took a while for the dinner to be returned. Salmon came back cooked the second time… but had no glaze… asked for some glaze for it…20 minutes later no glaze… when asked how everything was and reiterated disappointment… response was… oh well… sorry…nothing taken off the bill… that will be last time there.

The first time I tasted stone crab claws was at Hottles many years ago who knew stone crabs in Wilkes Barre. Then I heard it closed was sad as it is a great spot. Just found out it is reopened and went Saturday night 8-8-2015 it was amazing the new owner Colleen and her family have restored this wonderful Wilkes Barre Icon. Food was amazing I had the surf and turf my husband had the lobster tail and we enjoyed it immensely. He started with the the lobster bisque and I had the lump crab cocktail out of this world. The bartender George is the owners brother in law and her sister even works on weekends for her. We even met her mom and dad absolutely lovely people. They brought Anne back from the original Hottles. She has kept the same décor only cleaned it up as the last time I was there it was a smoking bar so a lot of cleaning was needed. But she has retained the Hottle feeling. If you ever get into Wilkes Barre this is a must place to check out, been a Wilkes Bare Icon since 1937 so lets hope Colleen keeps it going just as long. Well done Colleen and family we will be back.

The last time I was here was probably 1989. The area has lost most of those good old places but this place is back in action, and doing it well I might add. It was a Thursday night. I called to see if we needed reservations. The hostess on the phone said they were busy and it would help, i complied. The place is pretty much the same but with some nice upgrades. I personally find it unnecessary to gut on and institution and rehab it if you plan on opening under the same name. They didn’t do this and to add, kept all the good stuff. The original bar is still there as well as the murals. They added some new tile and a fireplace in the dining room, all was done very nicely. The menu is simple, meat and fish, but definitely not lacking in variety among those categories. The appetizer of clams were steamed and served in a garlic herb butter which was very good. The stuffed tilapia as main was also very good. Our serve was super friendly, and real. She was there to be sure we had everything we need. They also have a selection of $ 21.00 bottles of wine, great option for a week night or on a budget. Probably the only thing they lack is not having an espresso machine. If you’re a dinner place, you should have espresso, at least in my mind. Espresso or not, I’ll be back. Overall it was a good experience! I hope they keep up the good work.

I remember enjoying Hottles Restaurant in my youth and was quite sad when they closed some years ago. When I learned the restaurant was under new ownership I eagerly awaited the grand opening. I was able to attend the opening held last weekend. Because it was the soft opening, and a Friday night to boot, the restaurant was packed. The dining area itself is rather small and the tables were pushed close together. During a busy night this could lead to a somewhat awkward dining experience. It’s difficult to have a meaningful conversation with your dinner guest when every other patron in the restaurant can possibly overhear what you’re saying. But as busy as Hottles was on that night, the service was still impeccable. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Hottles only hired waitresses with ESP, because they anticipated my every request — each condiment or drink refill I needed was brought to my table before I even asked. Though the soft opening was only offering a limited menu, the appetizers and dinner entrees I ordered were wonderful. The portions were massive and I had enough food left over to make a delicious lunch on the following day. Because the restaurant was still operating without a liquor license I also received two complimentary glasses of wine with my meal. Thanks, Hottles! I plan to make another dinner reservation at Hottles soon. I’m so glad that another quality restaurant has opened in our area.

Excellent seafood, downtown Wilkes Barre. I’m not sure its one of the more popular restaurants, it kinda flies under the radar. But the food and service is always very good. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food the size of the portions. I’ve never been disappointed with any of their seafood or italian style dinners. They have a great shrimp in a marinara cheese sauce that is unbelievable, I order it every single time. Check out the specials, their usually very good as well, and change every day.
