While on vacation I decided to give yoga on the beach a try. The view of the ocean and the sound of the waves crashing was a perfect setting. Unfortunately the experience was miserable for me due to sand fleas constantly biting my ankles. The instructor bought a spray over, but it didn’t work. Perhaps bring your own bug spray? Class located to the right of the Wildwood Convention Center.

9am M, W, F, Sun during the summer. Instructor is great. When I went, there were at least 20 – 30 ppl each time. Def nice to get some early morning yoga in, esp at the beach(get those negative ions from the ocean air to create positive vibes)! And just $ 5 a class? Amazing deal. I pay $ 15 – 20 «suggested donation» for a class in LA on the beach… :/

If you are in the Wildwood area vacationing for a day, a week or a whole summer you must come to Yoga on the Beach! I saw advertisements for Yoga on the Beach on the WW boardwalk and being a yogini I figured I would try it out! You may not think so but finding the yoga class can be a little confusing. Remember, the WW beach is loooong so you’ll need good eyesight to spot some yogis in downward dog. Charla, the instructor, meets her students at the bottom of the ramp next to the WW Convention Center. From there, she walks with you down to the beach and finds a good spot to practice. There is a sprinkler on this ramp for you to wash the sand off your feet after class. Each class is $ 5 and there is even a class card available, when you buy 5 classes you get the 6th class free! Have cash on you and be prepared to pay before class. I have been to other yoga classes on the beach and this is the best yoga sequence you will find! Charla could charge at least $ 10 a class(that is the average rate) but she keeps the price low. The only thing you need to bring is a beach towel and a water. The classes I attended were a vinyasa type class. There were sun salutations and from then on she kept you moving in a nice flow. Each class I attended was a different flow so I don’t think you’ll ever do the same exact flow twice. She is very knowledgable about the yoga and has obviously been teaching a while. She will help and make corrections and even give you a head/neck massage during savasana! I must say, laying in savasana after class on the beach listening to the waves crash is one of the most relaxing moments you will experience on the beach. Classes are every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sundays at 9:00am to 10:30am. She is very active on her Facebook page so make sure to check online, especially on inclement weather days. For some reason I was not able to add the Facebook page to business information. Here it is. There are many benefits to doing yoga, and yoga specifically on the beach. This is truly a wonderful way to start your morning. Namaste.
