Anytime Fitness

Having been a member of several different high profile gyms in Los Angeles, I never really expect much from them except crowds and high prices. I decided to give Anytime Fitness in Wildwood a try as it is the closest gym to our house. I got a two week trial to begin with, and was pleasantly surprised that the owner did not pressure me to join before I was able to do my free trial (as it has been with every other gym I’ve been to — the «free trial» only comes after a high pressure sales pitch that basically means you end up signing up right then). I got my key pass and got the tour, and then was free to come and go for two weeks to try it out.
I love the setup of this gym! High end equipment, no huge crowds, and the classes — whatever class you want, whenever you want and you take it by yourself (so they’re never full and you’re not taking it right during dinnertime or your kids bedtime).
I highly recommend this gym! I hope to be a member for a long time!

Update 7.2.15 After about seven months of complaining including to corporate someone finally cleaned and it lasted two weeks. Out of the four elliptical machines they have one has been broken for six months. The windows are filthy, but don’t worry when the bus drivers take there smoke breaks they can still stare at you or the whomever is waiting for the bus. Went next door to the Irish pub, turns out you can see everything through the windows from the patio. Nothing like a hundred person audience on a nice day. The air conditioning broke four two months, all they did was blame their lessor. They have four tv’s on the walls most of the time two aren’t on our they have shows that idolize the morbidly obese. Last but not least they blocked the fire exit with equipment.

My husband and I recently joined this gym after an unscheduled «drop-​in» visit/​tour. After the tour, I googled it before making the commitment and came across a single horrible Unilocal review. It didn’t fit with what I had observed, but did make me hesitant to join. Because of its convenient location, I decided to take the risk and join for a year. I have been going to the gym for nearly 2 months now, and was carefully observing cleanliness issues because of the negative review. One of the first days I worked out, I noticed a dead fly on the windowsill and thought it would be a good way to see if the place was cleaned regularly; the next day when I went to work out the fly was gone. I have found the place to be kept super clean, and the owners to be extremely forthcoming with information and extremely friendly.
I like the laid back non-​intimindating atmosphere, and the high-​end and well maintained equipment. I came from a gym where I was paying twice as much, and while this place doesn’t have all of the extra amenities, it provides everything you need for a quality workout conveniently.
I never write reviews, but felt compelled to offer an alternative review for people looking for an affordable, convenient, quality gym in Wildwood.
