Super 8 Wichita East

Very nice — new and clean. Very helpful and professional staff. Good breakfast for the price.

My team stayed here for a local tournament. I reserved and paid through Expedia, and when we arrived at 1:30 pm on Friday, I was told our rooms were not ready. The sign next to the window said Check-​in was at 1 pm, so I was a little baffled as to why ⁰⁄₄ rooms would be ready. I kept my cool, though, as we still had about 45 minutes before we had to be dressed and ready to compete. The clerk was nice enough, and he said to give him a minute, and he would see what he could do. As I waited, two different parties came in to see if they could get a room. Within about 10 minutes, all of my rooms were ready, and we were checked in. Later that evening, the different clerk was very helpful in finding a place for a late dinner. When we returned, my kids were ecstatic to see the shelf full of DVDs they could check out. Other amenities included nice medium-​sized fridge in room, as well as a microwave. I guess the two things I wanted but didn’t get were a coffemaker in my room and some hot protein options at the free breakfast. Definitely not a dealbreaker, though.
As far as how this location compares to other Super 8s? Superb! For one thing, just the overall décor and visual appeal is pretty awesome, and my critical teenagers commented several times on how NICE this Super 8 is in contrast to the others they have seen. We will definitely stay here ANY time we are in Wichita from here on out.

The only way I would stay at this place again is if it were the only room left in town. The whole placed creeped me out from the employee walking the parking lot writing down tag numbers to the overall poor condition of the property. The knob on the shower fell off which left no way to alter the temperature of the water so I got to take a cold shower. The ceiling fan made so much noise that it sounded like it was about to fall from the ceiling. I got virtually no sleep due to outside noise from the turnpike, etc. The employees did not seem to care and that attitude resonated throughout the way the hotel was maintained and operated. Super 8 can do better than this.

Convenient, relatively safe, clean, and near a Wal-​Mart (I mean who doesn’t forget basic stuff sometimes.)
What more can you ask for out of a motel when traveling?
Stayed here for the Wichita Air show last year and really appreciated the clean room.
