I looked forward to my meal at the iconic S&S for a solid week before getting to town. Sadly, S&S seems to be more of a local memory than reality. According to the locals that joined me for dinner as well as reading other reviews, this is a business in decline. My group was seated promptly on a Friday night. The place seemed deserted so I guess my reservation wasn’t really needed. The server was nice but lacked any experience. She had zero knowledge of the bar menu or what was offered. Two of our group went to the bar to inquire directly about the beverage list and were met with stony indifference from the surly bartender. From the time we sat down to when the bottle of wine was decanted/served was just over 45 minutes. Not acceptable. The group was finally offered the chance to order appetizers, we passed and just wanted dinner. When the salads finally arrived the sever gave a lame apology about«running out» of bread. Sorry, what? How in the Hell does a supposed 5 star steakhouse not have bread to offer? I ordered the spinach salad. What I got was drowned in dressing, way too much for the portion. Every person at the table ordered the prime rib. Finally something goes right. My prime was cooked correctly at med-rare, and it had good flavor. We skipped dessert. The service was 2 stars, but the prime rib kicked this place up to 3 stars. I was honestly expecting much more out of this joint.

Go somewhere else. Worst dining experience i have ever had. Server was friendly but trying to manage a 12 person table plus multiple small tables. Our appetizer was a joke(do not order the stuffed shrimp) but she was nice enough to let us exchange it for something else. Then we waited… and then waited some more… then more waiting. Eventually an hour and a half later… we gave up. I let the manager know we wanted to pay and leave. I also let him know we waited an hour and a half to get our meal; and he began to argue with me about the time frame saying we only waited an hour for our meal(which was not accurate). Either way 1 hour or 1.5 hours is ridiculously long to wait. I waited tables in my day; and I have never seen a manager argue with a customer. I have been to many upscale restaurants all over the country with exceptional service. And this restaurant and management is a JOKE. I will not be returning or recommending this establishment. Dined on 3÷5÷16

Poor service and food quality. Requested soup for one in party to be served with appetizer for other three. Didn’t show up till others were done with appetizer. Appetizer was extremely over cooked. Offered a replacement to go but not a credit. Bread was stale and had to wait for butter. Filet was not tender. Salad was marginal — full of iceberg veins. Waited for everything. Restaurant was not busy.

Server was awesome but listen to this. Order an appetizer, stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon, shows to the table burnt and stuffed with nothing. So we let the server know just getting an onion ring would take care of the nasty shrimp showing. We get our salads… lettuce looks like its out of the bag. Moving onto the main course… well it never showed up. We were sat at 630pm… here it was 8pm. No FOOD! We let the manager know we would pay for what we have so far, then he proceeds to argue with my wife(didn’t catch the managers name but he looks like Cliff Kingsbury coach of Texas Tech football) that we were sat at 7pm… my wife has to let him know we showed up at 6pm for a beer at the bar, then were sat at 630pm. Thru out the whole course of action, no apology for crappy shrimp, or having to wait 1.5 hours for no FOOD! Yay… I got food I could have gotten at Sonic! I left the nice waitress a fat $ 20 since it wasn’t her fault. I guess steak chains have an upper hand on places like this because you can always expect good service and CONSISTENT food.

On a business trip and looking for a good steak? This place has good prime rib. The Laurie size is big enough to feed two people. I would’ve rated this place better, but the jumbo shrimp and mash potatoes were average at best. Also, the waitress forgot to bring me my butter and I had to ask for it twice. Not what I expected for a place that charged premium prices for steaks.

The S&S offers a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere inside is nicely laid out. There’s a decent bar for pre-meal drinks. And the dinning room seating is quite comfortable. The missus and I sat in a booth. The service was spot on. Our server was polite and professional without the over-the-top annoying effort you get from many places here in Wichita. Our meal wasn’t worth the $ 120 dinner tab. We started with crab cakes and escargot. The cakes were wonderful but the escargot fell short of delicious. I’m not sure if they were over-cooked or slightly out-dated. My fillet was perfect, which made my night, but their ‘house specialty’ pork chop didn’t measure up to anything special. I’d like the give S&S another go, but there are several other steakhouses here in Wichita that I’ll be sampling before I return.

This was one of the reasons I would accompany my wife to southeast Kansas after moving to the east coast, but our last trip after the management change left me very flat. The prime rib is still outstanding but the sides and salads are worn and have not held up over time. Actually had been going here for ten years, but think its time to find another prime rib elsewhere… will miss the Scotch…

Definitely a boys club kind of restaurant. I came here with another female, and felt a bit out of place. The atmosphere was nice and very classy. The food was expensive but everything we ordered was delicious. Wait staff is friendly and attentive.

Food was good but the service was terrible. We visited on a Saturday night and they were very busy and clearly not prepared for the crowd. We had an 8:00 reservation but weren’t seated until well after 8. We weren’t greeted by our server until 8:30 and didn’t get our cocktails for another 15 minutes after that. For the money you will spend there, it is definitely not worth it.

Classy love this place. I usually go here for business lunches. Quality food and good price. Clean restaurant with great service. For lunch club sandwich hot beef sandwich and Ruben are my favorites. Their sweet potato fries is not that good.

We had the buffet, and everything was great from the prime rib to the fried chicken and catfish, even the pineapple was sweet and the blueberries. The buffet is only Sunday 10 am to 3! I yeah I’m not s breskfast person but the breakfast looked good all for only 18.99 used to be 16.99

The service was great but the food was very disappointing. The shrimp scampi was drowned in some type of watery oil that was supposed to the a butter lemon caper sauce. It was not a sauce. It was a broth if anything and was incredibly oily. The scampi itself came with a giant pat of butter on it as well. It wasn’t seasoned. The shrimp was overdone and dry. It also wasn’t seasoned. The bf got the prime rib. That was actually good but the side of mash with it was dry and flavorless. Definitely not worth the money.

We went for valentines dinner. The service was pretty good and the atmosphere was good. I ordered the prime rib and it was awesome and my husband had the bone in ribeye, which was ok. The terrible thing was the amount you pay and the terrible sides… they’re awful and generic and taste like they came from a box. For 95.00 I would expect something a little better then boxed rice a roni and instant potatoes.

The restaurant is very inviting with its rich décor and strong image as you enter the building. Visiting Wichita, KS for the first time, I was certainly intrigued at the menu as well as the interior, because let’s face it– it could just be another steak house. Best. Surprise. Ever. It wasn’t just another steak place, it was filled with local art and beautiful touches that would make any event beautiful I am sure. The decanters that lined the bar & entry way were absolutely beautiful and added to the ambiance of the dinning area. Entering in the building, it is deceiving to the eye. It is much bigger inside that it appears especially since they have meeting space galore AND a room for cigar smoking!!! The food was insane! It was of course inspired by the local faire with tender and flavorful meat that certainly would not disappoint any meat lover. I had the bacon wrapped medallions with a loaded potato and have dreamed of going and indulging once more. The plate was beautifully collected, but still – that wasn’t the best part. Chocolate hazelnut cake; a must try. It was life changing to say the least– rich, decadent, and was clearly made from scratch since it didn’t have an oily flavor or after mark. Heavenly buy it self, or maybe I will try with just coffee. The staff was amazing. Attentive, but not intrusive and certainly know what they are doing. The managers are all incredibility nice and truly have hospitality in their bones. I will be back… with others… but I am not sharing!

Very well preserved, old-money style steakhouse, gives the feeling you stepped back into the 1950’s. A little expensive, but about what you would expect to pay at an upscale steakhouse. Good salads, I had a salad that was quite big and had the standard Wichita oily Caesar dressing, not my favorite but I liked it OK. Ribeye steak was made of very good quality meat with very good flavor — I’ve had better, but not much better than this. My asparagus was undercooked(in my opinion) which seems to be typical for fancy restaurants. Do people really want to crunch their vegetables? The round homemade sourdough bread loaf with soft whipped butter was absolutely excellent — I could have eaten an entire meal of this. I didn’t have it but the menu highlighted the twice baked potatoes — I’ll try them next time. I don’t think I saw a regular baked potato on the menu — this seems a little strange to me. Probably not high on my list for repeat visits simply due to the cost being out of my normal price range — over $ 100 for two of us without alcohol.

I had the bone in rib eye and it was ok… it was a steak nothing more nothing less. No seasoning added, the potatoes had more seasoning then the steak. My wife had the spinach salad with hot dressing which was served cold. We both said the bread was the best part of the meal which bites considering the price tag attached to the meal. Sad might try again our waitress says the KC steak is better. She was awesome on taking care of us. Live and learn to try some where else…
