Decided to give this place a try but honestly as a Vietnamese, I do not think this place is good at all. I ordered a phở and it was warm/close to being cold by the time it got to the table. The flavoring tasted more like chicken then it did beef. The broth was also super oily. The waitress also doesn’t understand English really much. The waitress came to our table once to order the food, drops it off, than never comes back. We tried getting her attention but she never even came even when she said okay she’s coming. I honestly would not recommend this place at all.

I come here whenever I crave good phở and it delivers every time. This small little restaurant is impressive in its quality and consistency. I recommend the Combination bowl and the size upgrade that comes with!

This place is OK. Best phở place in Wichita is My Tho! The food is bland, it has no flavor whatsoever. It’s not the best, it’s simple flavorless phở. It’s not that great. The only reason why I come back once in a while is because I feel bad for the old lady that watches those stupid Vietnamese concerts & I feel bad if I stop going there because I don’t want to see her in the streets.

CASHONLY Now that I have that out of the way, let’s get to the review. The restaurant sits in a shopping mall strip. Parking is decently sized. The place itself was nothing impressive to look at. Doesn’t have much character than tables and banquet chairs. It’s clean which is very important. The menu itself is fairly basic and limited. The drink menu is fairly large but a bit expensive. I requested a Dr. Pepper and received a can with a glass and ice for a $ 1.25. So if you’re getting phở, skip the soda as you’ll most likely be drinking the broth. The prices increased 1 dollar all around. I ordered the rare steak flank, number 10 medium. The wait time was fairly low as it only took about 5 – 7 minutes. Ordered a medium and it was good actually. They gave me many cuts of beef. Some places give you too little or barely enough. Broth was very tasty. The waitress was nice and prompt. So the service overall was excellent. Good food and service. Prices are a dollar more than I would pay. If they took plastic, I would give them another star.

I don’t really like phở, but my parents do. This this the only place they like, and I wholeheartedly believe them. Phở Hien is a simple place. The restaurant looks plain and their menu is even plainer but their noodles are far from plain. Since phở isn’t on my list of favorite Vietnamese foods, I usually order their wonton noodles. Super good. Just don’t forget to bring cash as they don’t accept plastics!

Hands down, the best phở in Wichita and trust me, I’ve done my research(I’m Vietnamese)! Really nice staff, huge portions for a reasonable price and that broth tastes like it’s been simmering for days, so flavorful and hearty. Always try to stop by whenever I’m back home!

Great Phở. A little dicey part of town, but for lunch you should be fine. The restaurant is pretty much no-frills, and just serves soup. No rangoon, egg-rolls, or sandwiches. This is the real deal, straight Vietnamese, cash-only. It’s always clean, the staff if very friendly, even with their limited english, and most importantly, it’s one of the best bowls of Phở in Wichita.

Excellent food. Somewhat difficult for me to find good phở outside of my favorite but I tried Phở Hein and was delighted in its savory flavor, somewhat different than the sweetness I expect. My brisket was very fresh and pink still — the noodles still a bit al Dente, my soup continued to cook in front of me. The broth was excellent and I was served water with the meal. Though it’s difficult to get the water refilled the meal is worth the stop if your on north Broadway.

I go here every week sometimes more than once. This place has the best phở in town! Plus the steak cooks perfectly. Love how I come in now and they know exactly what I want without even asking.

I am not an expert in Vietnam food but I like their noodle soups. So far only thing I tried there are #2 and #20 in their menu. I love #2 and made a mistake by ordering#20. Cos I realized that I don’t like all the sea food combination in my soup. This looks like a family restaurant and everyone there are friendly. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely go there again.

Positives: The 2 stars is solely based on the food, which means the phở got all the credit. It was good & delicious, although they up the price all the time. Negatives: Waiters come by once to order, drop off order, and never come back to table again. Old lady at counter grouchy, overcharged your tab if you don’t pay attention. I never understood restaurants that don’t except credit cards.

This place only sells Phở. To the non-Vietnamese people out there, you may be deterred from that concept of no variety HOWEVER, this is the best phở place you will ever go to in Wichita. That being said, I love this place. I use to live in Wichita and would always go here for my phở fix. You really can’t get phở any where else better than this place. Be prepared to bring cash though.

My daughter and I eat lunch here when she is in the area. We love their phở. It’s much better than some other places we have been. The menu is very limited to different types of phở, but it’s worth a try if you get in the area. YUMMMM!!! Just thinking about it is making me hungry for a bowl.

Do one thing and do it well. If there are any cheesy inspirational posters in the kitchen of Phở Hien, this must be the one(along with the obligatory kitten«hanging in there»). The broth that is the base for the Vietnamese noodle soup is consistently a magical balance of sweet, salty and umami, owing to the silky gelatin released by simmering beef parts and infused with a combination of cloves, star anise and other spices(cinnamon, maybe?) The balance of fat and flavor of the broth actually FEELS good to eat, which can be dangerous when tempted to order the above-ground swimming pool sized extra large portion. As other reviewers have noted, Phở is the only real menu option. There are no banh mi sandwiches, no spring rolls, nothing that might distract from the best Phở in a town with a surprising number of excellent competitors. Your only choices are what type of thinly sliced beef parts you want in your bowl and which condiments you want to add to the mix. For my money, the added acidity from lime juice, sweetness from Thai basil, texture from bean sprouts and heat from the bird’s eye chilies makes this arguably one of the best meals available in Wichita. My Tho gets more attention(probably owing to an easier location for most), but I’ve done the Pepsi challenge and Phở Hien is consistently my first choice. I briefly lived in southeast Asia several lifetimes ago and I find the service and atmosphere to be a gentler version of what I remember. Prompt service, surprisingly clean restrooms and bewildering background entertainment(I refer to the looped singing program as Hanoi Idol). It’s not fancy, but it doesn’t need to be. The soup is the star. Bring cash or you’ll have to drive a few blocks to an ATM in a sketchy convenience store. And you’ll disappoint the grandmotherly woman who runs the register.

This is pretty much the only place I go to get phở now! They give you the bang for your buck! A small bowl is usually sufficient enough to make me full. Their tai meat is also super yummy and soft and I love the broth!

Without doubt the best of the three Broadway Vietnamese restaurants, Phở Hien doesn’t complicate matters with eight pages of menu or wall decorations. You’re going to eat phở and you’re going to like it. As usual, the base broth is my rubric, and the fragrant bowl of soup placed in front of me certainly lived up to my expectations, though I also don’t mind when I’m provided with a hefty amount of onions to augment things. The meat-broth ratio was adequate for my(relatively) small-sized bowl, though I wouldn’t have been surprised it that ratio shifted as you gravitated more towards the el gigante. From the strip mall exterior(and interior) to the nice elderly woman(and probably family member) serving drinks and taking checks behind the counter to the looping DVD of weird Vietnamese television playing, Phở Hien is exactly what you would expect from this Broadway restaurant — a lack of décor, but a wealth of flavor.

I just dropped into this place to obtain treatment for a severe Phở deficiency I was suffering from. Thank goodness… I made it just in the nick of time. That was a close call!

I heard many good things about this place but was quite disappointed. Their MI(yellow egg noodle) was not good. Their phở was okay.

I like this place. It’s a bit of a whole in the wall, but a decent size. I love a phở shop that can offer the«Phở Xe Lua» — which literally means«Phở Train» because of it’s massive size. I love phở so much I can eat 2 large bowls in one sitting. The broth is very tasty, but I wish I could have gotten more meat with my noodles. If there was more meat, I would have definitely given them 5 stars. Very close… Oh, and this place is CASH only. IRS Alert!
