I’ve been eating at norms since I was a kid. I always order the Bacon burger with seasoned fries. Food is always good, service can’ sometimes be slow. Overall I love eating there.

I’ve been coming to this place for over 16 years already. They never disappoint; staff is very friendly! I’ve recently been coming here for their breakfast, only problem is the breakfast burritos are just PACKED with potato &that it makes it a little dry but they’re nice enough to remake it for me overall, I really love this place. Very clean inside, there’s usually staff in the dining area constantly keeping the area clean. Burgers are great, along with the chili cheese fries &shakes!

I read that the avocado bacon cheese burger was great so I ordered it and headed home to find that I was given a regular burger… I didn’t have time to return it. I ate it. It was a decent burger but wasn’t what I ordered and paid for.

Got the double cheese burger and was really good. Tried a couple spots around Whittier for burgers and I gotta say NORMS comes out on top. I had gotten a pastrami cheeseburger before but wasn’t that great. Double cheeseburger is better. Also you can ask for the seasoned fries which are really good. Prices are decent and customer service is cool.

This place is a local favorite. I’ve tried just about everything on the menu and to be honest, you can’t go wrong with anything you may choose. My favorite is the bacon avocado cheeseburger and the chili cheese fries. Oh and the fried zucchini. If I had to criticize anything, when dining in, the place feels a little run down. But that doesn’t stop me from enjoying my meal.

Gal at the register was friendly. Food came out fast, like REALLY fast. It was hot too, so they just have it dialed in, it’s not kept on a warmer. Fries were pretty good. Thick cut, crispy on the outside, soft inside. Would be the perfect fry if they salted them more. Or at least had ANY salt shakers in the dining area. TL;DR Good quick burger joint. Will be back. Bring your own salt.

Taste is consistent. Not dull but not delicious. More than average good. The Drive-thru line isn’t usually a long wait. They could do better customer service.

Tasteless no matter what we’ve ordered. You usually can’t mess up a breakfast burrito, but Norm’s did. It was bland– I guess they don’t use salt or pepper. This place was voted best of the best for burgers– I totally disagree! I recommend going to Tams on Lambert instead– that place has good food!

This place brings me so many memories of my childhood! This diner has been open as long as I can remember. The food is still amazing and the staff makes you feel like family. Love the pastrami sandwich, steak sandwich and of course the cheeseburger! Can’t wait to go back!

My husband and I used to love this place but after watching them cook the food, I can never go back here again! Yesterday we ordered 2 breakfast burritos for dine in, which we never do. We proceed to sit to the left by the window where they put out the orders. I look over and this larger Hispanic gentleman is eating a piece of bread, shoves his entire thumb in his mouth and sucks it. Then walks over to OUR burritos and begins to roll one up. He must have then realized he didn’t wash his hands so he goes over to the sink and uses sanitizer instead. He goes back and finishes the burrito and the young lady brings them out. I’m mortified by this time. I walk over to the lady at the register(who has washed her hands every time she steps away from the counter) and inform her I couldn’t eat that burrito. When I tell her why the guy comes over to the counter to call me a liar and tell me he sanitized before he touched the first burrito. I tell him that’s beside the point, he should have washed his hands. He angrily asks if I want my money back puts 6 dollars on the counter and walks away. I’m afraid he might be the manager. If that is the little regard he has for cleanliness then what does he expect from his staff. I’m so disappointed with this restaurant. I loved their food but I can’t trust how my food will be handled.

I’ve been dining at this spot since I was in elementary so I obviously have my own pros & cons, likes/dislikes and reasons for a 3 star rating. Pros(likes) — Shakes are delicious. Everything on theur menu is good(only if it’s fresh) They have orange bang. They’ll walk to your car, hand you your food & charge you if the food is ready before you even get to the window. Managers are apologetic if a mistake is made. They do keep the line moving as fast as possible. They’re always accurate. Cons(dislikes) — They charge for ranch and other sauces. There’s no soda machine in the dine-in so if you want a refill, an employee has to get it for you & sometimes there’s a line. Employees can’t even break a smile or say thank you sometimes. Food is not always fresh depending who is the cook that day, and you’ll get cold food. *Tip– they only serve hot fresh food when it’s busy. But when it’s slow and they don’t have much customers, they’ll use the food that’s been sitting there instead of throwing it away because they want to avoid any food waste. & I know this because I’ve came here when it’s slow & busy, and tasted the difference in my food each time.*

Arrived to norms and began reading Unilocal reviews. Was iffy based on negative feedback, so I said how bad can a place ruin a burger. My bacon cheese burger was fantastic and so was my milk shake.

Best burgers, fries, onion rings, chili burgers and pastrami. I could really go on an list all of their food because it is all delicious and savory. Chili cheese fries and a chocolate shake is my favorite guilty pleasure meal, and this is the place to get it. The entire staff has been beyond spectacular and have been for the past 15 years. This is a place I always take my out-of-town friends to, because it is THAT good. Small, diner feeling that they keep very clean, despite the large amount of people they get in there everyday. Best burgers in Whittier!

This is a review of their policy And lack Of communication with their customers. I just went in to order some food when i took out my debit card to pay. The counter person said“We DON’T take cards ANYMORE”. Are you kidding??? Why isn’t a BIG sign posted somewhere to let customers know? Needless to say that since i use my debit card for most purchases. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I’ve lived in Whittier for 20 years and have never stopped here. Finally stopped with the family and had a bite to eat. The food was good(7 out of 10) but the prices were a lot for what they serve. I can now scratch this place off on the places to go and can say that I won’t be back anytime soon. I’ll stick to tam’s on lambert for our next burger fix.

Good olé Norm’s. The service tends to suck here. That’s bout there is to say bout service. The food is quite good for smart n’ final(commercialized, processed) foods. Pancakes — These have a nice sweet flavor. At $ 4 or so for pancake bfast. Great bargain. Burgers — I used to enjoy the burgers here. The 1000 island recipe definitely made it stand out. Chili Cheese Fries — Decent. Don’t expect much. Club sammich — basic. ask for the burger sauce rather than mayo! I don’t think i’ve tried anything else. Norms has become quite $$$ for what they give you. It’s more $$$ than In & out.

I tried really hard to like this place, because it’s very close to my work. *Fish taco, nothing on them, just large chunks of tomato. *$teak sandwich, the steak had so many veins, with every bite the whole paper size meat came out. You can’t bite into the sandwich. *Chile cheese fries, the chile taste & looks like it comes from a can. *Their famous hamburger, the patty was so thin,(like Mc Donalds hamburger)& so overcooked, tasted like how I suppose shoe leather would taste. *Carne Asada Burrito, packed with rice & sprinkled on top with meat. Now after this happened, I said: I must write a review. I seen so many good one’s, I am thinking, REALLY!

My fiancé and myself like to try different burger places. We’ve passed by here a few times and decided to try it. I got the carne asada fries and she got the gyro. The fries were disgusting. Fries with carne asada(burnt), cheese, and… ranch??? I tossed that crap out the window. Her gyro was very bland and vegetables severely undercooked. Sad slices of meat. It didn’t help that the two teenage workers were eating and drinking while taking orders. Never coming here again.

Whenever you find yourself in a new area there are a few essentials necessary in your time of localizing yourself. The best place to get a haircut. Which grocery store has the cheapest and best produce. Where is that closest Target?! But more importantly, if you are a burger lover you need to find that local burger joint that is both hole-in-the-wall and watering hole. Finding myself land locked and chained to my clincial site for the next year and a half I had to see what was good and what was great. Norm’s is the great. Deco: 3 stars The decorum here won’t wow you or astound you. Instead, it’ll look like most family owned burger joints: some amateur photos showcasing food specials and the menu, simple table and chair layouts in a small but efficient dining room space, and a team of people working together to get food out during a lunch rush. Though the space might not be a modern style interior like Stacked or Red Robin it is definitely comfortable. Service: 4 stars The service here really only comes down to two things: 1. How they greet you when ordering the food at the counter 2. How quickly does the food come out For the former, the cashier is a friendly older woman who greets you and asks you what you crave. There is no filler conversation in between what’s ordered and paid but there is a warmth to the way she speaks to you that feels welcomed. For the latter, the speed is astonishing. For a place that makes food fresh I’ve experienced a patty melt and double pastrami cheeseburger combo come out under five minutes. They’ve got the food game on lock! Food: 4 stars Speaking of food, this place makes some scrumptious burgers and fries. If you are a fan of crunchy French fries this place makes not only some nicely textured fries but spuds packed in flavor. I am a bit of a fry glutton so when I was able to take that bite of crisp golden potato I had a small moment of bliss. You won’t find any leftover fries on my plate. The burgers too are big and filling. Each burger has the basic of whole lettuce leaves, tomato, pickles, and white onion. The burger patties are fire grilled and simply seasoned. The buns are not too thick and hold the whole thing together. It is simple deliciousness. Whether you add pastrami or onion rings to the burger it’ll satiate your burger craving. Conclusion Living like a local means not being star eyed by hype or trends. It means knowing what’s good even if it isn’t blared out to the world to see. If you find yourself in Whittier near Whittier Hospital you’ll see which local burger place is a favorite to the locals. Make yourself a new regular and see your belly grow in happiness at Norm’s.

Really tasty burgers in almost record time. The mushroom cheeseburger and fries combo is my go-to when hitting this charbroil. The gals at the drive through are always really nice and provide plenty of condiments(yes!). They also have breakfast, sandwiches, and Mexican options, but get the famous burgers. The lines can get long at peak hours, but they do their best to move it along. They charge extra for ranch/thousand/dipping sauces on the side, so be warned. Overall, good old stand by when on the Boulevard.
