Marie Callender’s Restaurant & Bakery

The server was nice and attentive but the food was pricy when compared to the quality. I ordered the turkey dinner and the turkey was extremely salty almost to the point where it wasn’t even eatable. I’ve noticed that Marie calendars is often hit or miss depending on who preps the food and the location. For the price you pay here you can go eat at Bjs or Lucilles and always get consistency in good quality food.

Well we decided to come here to eat before we headed back to where we all came from. It was up setting because the gentleman who was by himself trying to do everything couldn’t do it all (waiter, host, cashier, bus-​boy) and when 14 people come and the tables needed to be cleaned and put together 40mins later we’re still waiting to be seated after being told it’ll be 20mins. Customers kept coming in to buy pies, pay their check and still waiting to be seated. I finally told the young man «Hey bud, it’s not your fault and since your manager isn’t around to help you out our only alternative is to go somewhere else.» He tried to convince us to stay and at the same time helping a customer who couldn’t make up their mind on which pie to purchase… our party left the building… our bill would’ve been well over $ 150 and sad to say we probably won’t be coming back soon

This place was very bad very dirty. My menu was sticky with food debris table was also
sticky and gross. I would have left but others in my group wanted to stay. I had the French
dip with fries sandwhich tasted odd and fries were cold.

Just had a meal with my husband to celebrate our small wedding. Had the best service from Breeanna, and food was awesome. Thank you for our dessert gift :)

They made us wait 15 minutes to be seated when there were only 5 people in the restaurant and then it took them 45 minutes to serve us our food and the food was cold. Very disappointed with this. I recommend 5hat no one come here. They obviously dont try and dont deserve business.

Good people bad management. This Restraunt needs team work. The food and service reflect it. I can’t say anything good about my visit other than I am not planning on coming back for a while.

Second time here for happy hour…1^st time was ok, this time better. Server was kind and attentive, drinks were delicious so we were happy at happy hour! Maybe next time will be fantastic …

I really love the food here… The service is okay. But the take out is horrible, they always make us wait way longer then they said and always mess up our order. Plus when we call we never get through we have to place the order on line.
They definitely need more people working in front, we always see one person working the– pies, take out, and host and everyone waits in the same line, very unorganized. We are getting tired of it and will probably stop giving this place business.

Horrible! We have eaten in the restaurant twice and both times it’s been a 2 hour experience. I vowed to not come here again but someone gave me a gift card so I decided to try it take out. Here I am waiting for my to-​go and I called it in an hour ago! Seriously! I’m literally standing here waiting! Next time you can have my gift card. Waste a time for mediocre food.

This place has gone down hill quick. Terrible service and not very clean. Even took the manager a long time to come see us when we were unhappy. Then he said our dinner was free and the server gave us a bill. Horrible… We did pay and don’t plan on returning.

This review is for the server Lori. She was a fantastic server that took care of our dinner service very well. Our drinks were topped off, and our meal was served in an appropriate amount of time. Lori gets 5 stars, while the business does not.
As far as the store is concerned, I could not honestly give it more than 2 stars. My family was not acknowledged as waited to be seated. The person manning the front looked us in the eyes and walked away several times before realizing we weren’t waiting in the «pie» line to seat us. I grabbed our own menus to hint at the person that we were present for dinner. They insisted on taking the menu, seating us, then returning the menus back to us. I guess that person didn’t want to be «seen» as not attending dinner patrons.
I’ll return to Marie Callendar’s, no doubt. But please hire people that give a care about your guests.

This has the worst service I’ve ever experienced. The manager of this restaurant doesn’t know how to delegate, and help her staff overcome their objections.
We came in with 2 children. After waiting 45 minutes and 5 requests for cornbread we finally got it, and then the food came half cold half warm half hot.
Horrible service, will not stop by in there again.

Stopped in for a quick dinner last night. The food wasn’t bad, the bar was sort of busy with an older crowd watching sports. There was a loud female sitting at the bar, seemed like she was looking for a sugar daddy.
Just as we finished paying for dinner a HUGE roach marched across the floor headed toward the kitchen… I wanted to puke.
When we told the server, he looked under the table across the room and then stepped on a second one just feet from our table. As we left the building we told the manager and he went to see for himself.
I can promise you I will never go back to this place, I don’t care if they offer free food and drinks.

When in search for that delicious, flaky chicken pot pie — where else can we rely on besides out friendly, neighbor Marie Calendars? With such a reputable name and a delicious recipe, it’s hard to find a place where you can get both excellent service and delicious food.
I went to this restaurant and tried the delicious trio, which included my favorite slice of fresh strawberry pie. The food was amazing, made fresh to order and tasted exceptional. When here, I would highly suggest the salad and soup bar. The baked potato and cheese soup may not be the healthiest but definitely slow cooked to perfection. I personally would like to thank Michelle, Michael, Breanna, Steve and staff for such an amazing experience.
Bravo to a place with great service and delicious food.

Awful food, served cold! My soup was literally water with leftover veggies thrown in. $ 8 for a bowl of flavored water. So many other options, go somewhere else.

We’ve known of and enjoyed Marie Callender’s for a long time. Though it is a chain restaurant it still has its charm. They have experienced changes over the years, as many restaurants have. Marie Callender’s serves classic American dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dessert is the main event, 30 homemade varieties of their famous pies… Yum! The menu offers something for everyone and their food is pretty good.
My wife and I came in for pie and pie today. That is, Marie’s Chicken Pot Pie ($ 9.99) for her and Shepherd’s Pie ($ 11.99) for me. Price included warm corn bread, Caesar salad and a slice of pie. Her pot pie had chunks of chicken with vegetables, topped with a flaky crust. She loved it! My Shepherd’s Pie had beef with vegetables, topped with mashed potatoes and a three-​cheese blend. Delicious!
For dessert, my wife had a slice of banana cream pie topped with sliced almonds, chocolate cream pie topped with whipped cream was my choice. Pure delight! I’ve always enjoyed their fresh homemade pies to take home, especially in Oct., when all pies are only $ 7.99!

I have never been a fan of this Marie Callenders location. I have been to many others and the service and food provided was way better.
This location is kind of hidden being that it is not on the major street of Whittier Blvd. It’s behind a big building and is left with a small frustrating parking lot.
Service here is terrible. I have come in here before and waited for 5 minutes before anyone greeted me to sit down. The cashiers at the front are not the nicest. For some reason it has always been like this. I must just get the snooty ones.
Prices…man pretty soon you are going to be paying $ 20 a plate! It’s just about there and it’s not even a fancy restaurant. It’s really and older vibe feel in here with the outdated décor as well. Any who… prices are ridiculous now which is the main reason I stopped coming. Pies went up and all their main courses. Marie wouldn’t be happy about that!
I used to be a fan… but with bad service and overpriced food I just can’t do it!

The food was good, but no wow factor. It was nothing special.
All 3 of us ordered the pot pie special that came with a salad and a slice of pie.
The server was attentive and the food was delivered promptly and the right temperatures, but again the food just wasn’t spectacular. Very plain and old fashioned. The music they were playing was to trendy for this type of restaurant and didn’t fit with the rest of the décor.

They now offer two types of Hangar (bottled) Wheat & IPA, Oh YAY!

This is for the pie special offered in October for $ 7.99 This location is minutes from home and convenient.
I hadn’t been here for quite some time due to my last unpleasant experience. I’m pleased to say that the apple pie purchased to go was fresh tasting delicious and perfect for dessert after a surf and turf meal I prepared.
I’ll be returning BC Thanksgiving will be here in no time!
