This was awesome! Italian beef was fresh and juicy! French fries were homemade, quick service, friendly staff, clean dining area. Don’t know why this place isn’t busier.

Even though I’m from Chicago(the actual city), I’m far from a beef aficionado. I’ve taken away from Jimmy’s several times and am happy with the product. Everything is fresh, the rolls have a nice consistency and the peppers are crunchy and fresh. The place is spotless and service speedy. The fresh cut fries are a favorite of mine.

Had to try this place being from the Chicago area. It had a nice retro style seating area in the back that didn’t seem to be used often. Place was clean on the inside, pretty boring. Had the italian beef with hot peppers, cheese, fries and a chocolate shake. The total came out to 14.60. A tad expensive. It also took about 12 minutes just for my shake to come out. The italian beef was decent. The hot peppers came on the side and complimented the sandwich well. Fries were steak cut, seasoned. They were okay, wouldn’t get them again. Shake was the best part(even if it took a long time) it took a while for it to be drinkable but was rich and chocolatey. I will probably visit again but will skip the fries and possibly the shake.

We were totally stoked for this place seeing that we are Chicago transplants! Unfortunately, we were disappointed several times. There is no consistency here. Some days the beef sandwiches are good and some days they have very little meat on them. I guess it depends on who is serving them. When we complained, they did correct it on a few occasions. The flavor is good. Some days the french fries are ice cold and some days they are warm and soggy. We have also seen scuffles between the staff,(as someone else had commented about) and have been surprised on more than one occasion with the unprofessionalism of the staff. This place has great potential! We are really hoping things improve. We will keep trying~

Overall a decent amount of food and tasted great. The beef could have a little more flavor but if you get the Italian beef really juicy it’s great! The fries are awesome too!

Upon entering I must have walked in during an employee scuffle. The 2 girls behind the counter were arguing with the guy behind the counter. This was happening for the majority of my visit. On to the Beef! They had many options for me but I kept it classic. Ordered my norm Hot Italian beef with mozzarella and hot and mild gianardi. The beef in the sandwich was very little in comparison to most I have eaten in my time. Peppers on the side and cheese hidden under the meat. Taste is average even though they boast new beef recipe outside. I will try them again as the employees were obviously having a bad day. No one else ate here while I was here from 12:30 to 1. Found that surprising in a busy little town like this. Mediocre is all I have to say about this visit!

Give it a chance… The hand cut fries are dynamite! The beef is not too shabby either, I had mine dipped and it was a little dry for my liking so I can’t wait to go back for the real classic experience and get it dunked! The fact that they have a nice selection of peppers shows this place wants to be legit.

Chicago style hot dog was pretty decent. However, the«signature» Italian beef needs a lot of work to be labeled as «signature». Chocolate shake tasted like the workers sloppily put Hershey’s syrup over watered down vanilla ice cream. Fries were awesome.

Went there on the very first day they were open, showed up in between lunch and dinner. I decided to go with the staple item the store is named after, the Italian Beef, I decided to add cheese, and sautéed green peppers, with a side order of fries. Now everyone prefers their Italian Beef a different way, and I do not claim to be an Italian Beef expert, but I was left very unsatisfied with my meal. The sandwich was okay, it didn’t have much flavor to it, and the fries were soggy and tasteless(They seemed to be a cross between a steak cut and a regular fry). I am more then open to coming back and trying something different, but for a place named after Italian Beef, I was let down. Compared to the only other place in town that offers an Italian Beef sandwich, Rosa’s quality and price are better than that of Jimmy’s. For the sandwich and fries, with no Soda, I paid a little over $ 10.

Im not sure what the other reviewer was talking about. Great italian beef that is obviously not frozen. Hand cut fries and thick shakes with real ice cream so everything seems to be made on premise. Glad to finally have a great beef and sausage shop in town.
