Focolare puts this place to shame. Spend your money elsewhere if you like good pizza. It’s like they’re trying too hard to make«hip» pizza, rather than delicious pizza. And the bartender who served us alternated between brash and dickish. We drove 30 minutes to get the pizza and she ruined our evening. The product wasn’t good enough for us to put up with the rudeness. So many other pizza places that we like in the area, this is no loss for us.

Absolutely awesome! I feel like I found an undiscovered gem. The menu has all sorts of food on it. Tacos, Fish and Chips, salads and of course Pizza. We had a little bit of everything.(It was happy hour) Truly a great experience. The staff was gracious, the food timely and the atmosphere electric, we will be back!

I am local and have been going to Pioneer since they opened, probably 10 times now, and ordered to go pizza another handful of times. The service is truly hit and miss; really great or really lacking, although they are friendly every time. Twice when it’s been busy we have received the wrong food or incomplete but overall it’s fine. A great family friendly place. Bummer that the video games are gone but the fusball is fun:) The real piece of advice I have is to get the Mexican luau pizza!!! it is the perfect combination of spicy and sweet! literally the very best pizza on earth!

Updating review to four starts… after looking at all my other reviews for food joints seems I was a bit too tough on Pioneer giving them only three stars. I try and put more emphasis on the write up vs the rating of stars as everyone rates differently. I base most of my decisions on whether or not to try a place by what others have written.

We are spending the weekend in the Columbia Gorge and tried out this place yesterday. We liked it so much we came back across the river again today to eat there. My wife and I have yet to try their pizza but everything we have tried was top notch. Yesterday, I tried a buffalo chicken wrap which was fresh, lively and delicious. My wife tried a special they had of ginger beef street tacos, again amazingly delicious. Today, I tried their homemade sausage rigatoni and

Pioneer is our favorite place in White Salmon for dinner and drinks. Friendly service and seriously yummy pizza & salads, and guilty pleasures like hot wings, jo jo’s, & nachos. The local beer & cider selection is awesome and changes constantly. It’s a great dinner spot or cool atmosphere bar at night. Fun place with pool table & TVs with sports. Go for their large happy hour menu from 4 – 6 every day

The people here were incredibly friendly. We’d decided to take out after a long day exporting the area, but could easily have stayed and enjoyed more of their company. The pizzas were excellent and the kale and quinoa salads were exceptional.

Eat here all the time — live in town. Great food by people who care. There are always ups and downs when it comes to restaurants and your«perceived service». I travel a ton and rely on Unilocal.I’m here to say that 9 times out of 10 you’ll really be glad you ate here.

We ordered the 16″ Marco Polo and added sausage which was perfect. We called in a to go order and it was ready w/in 20 min as I was told. I wish I brought my family to eat in since its a hip– modern space that is also family friendly. Highly recommend it.

First time visitor and I felt very unwelcomed. Went to meet up with friends for happy hour. We were made to wait outside because they didn’t open for another 5 minutes, hmmmm. Couldn’t sit at a table that fit us all because happy hour is only served in the bar, hmmmm. Lastly, we were not able to add a chair to the configuration to accommodate us, hmmmm. For mediocre food but a decent beer selection, there were too many rules to follow. Not so happy hour.. .

We did not like the pizza at Pioneer Pizza. The individual ingredients were good, but the pizza build was flawed. We ordered the Supremo and none of the toppings stayed on the bread… so it was like eating a pizza salad off your plate. Every piece. Maybe we just hit a bad night or ordered the«wrong» thing off the menu. It was lame to pay $ 21 for a 10″ pizza mess. If pizza specifically is what you are after then I would suggest the following other options in order of preference(votes by both me and my kids): Focolare(WS), Solstice(HR), Double Mountain(HR), Pietro’s(HR), Andrew’s(HR), Beneventi’s(BG), and last Pioneer. It’s nice to have more dining options on the Washington side, and we will probably give Pioneer another shot at some point because we are local.

Open late, friendly staff. They got a good selection of beer and they have very good pizza specials. Best spot this side of the river for a late night drink.

We arrived late to White Salmon and after settling in the airbnb that we rented, we decided on a quiet night of pizza and wine. My husband went to Pioneer to grab pizza and came home with the most amazing chorizo, cheese, and pineapple pizza. The sweetness of the pineapple juxtaposed to the spiciness of the chorizo was amazing! Such a burst of flavor in your mouth. Paired with a glass of Subduction Red from Syncline it was a perfect match.

They place looked awesome. I got the triple berry refresher which lacked any sort of flavor. And we got the chorizo pineapple pizza which I had one bite of and didn’t want any more. Waitress was very nice. But food and mixed drinks were awful! Will not be going back. Much better choices else where.

Came in on a tues night at 9. We came because they were open till 11. Walked in and was told the kitchen was closed. Not even a late nigh bar menu. Sold us old pizza by the slice that they warmed up. Way too much. Cool vibe. Just wish they served food.

I stopped in tonight for some good gourmet pizza… And got it. All the menu options looked delicious, but I went with the one with bbq, bacon and chicken. Hey, I hiked all day, I obviously earned it. I had my dog with me in the car, so I couldn’t dine in, but thought the restaurant had a sweet set up with creative décor. The staff wasn’t super friendly, but not rude. I’d definitely visit again if my travels find me back in White Salmon!

Finally made it to check this place out last weekend and so happy we finally did! The service was awesome — super friendly. They encourage you to do half & half pizzas which was a nice way to try multiple options — we had the Spice Route(butternut squash & gorgonzola) and the Marco Polo(cheese w/red sauce and pesto). Both were delicious — I’m not normally a big fan of red sauce on pizza, but theirs is delicious! The crust is great — thin, but not TOO thin so it gets all soggy and limp, and deliciously chewy. We also had the asian salad, which was delicious! We were told that they’ll sell the dressing to you too which I think is pretty awesome! The only minor complaint I have is that it’s a little pricey for pizza(but that complaint applies to all pizza places in the gorge apparently, unless you want to eat Dominoes) — that said, Pioneer is probably my new favorite pizza restaurant in the area!

Pioneer is a fantastic addition to downtown White Salmon. Their pizza creations are creative and tasty. From bold and spicy mole pizza to carnivore delights and a few veggie pizza combos that are as unique as they are delicious. The spice route with butternut squash and ghee base is my favorite veggie pizza ever. A pizza is only as good as it’s crust though, and that’s where Pioneer has nailed it. Thin, chewy and crunchy– its just what I expect in a good pizza– and it fits the bill perfectly. The first time I went it the crust wasn’t as good as it is now, another sign of a good restaurant, they’re always getting better. The best part of ordering a pizza there is they allow you to do a half and half of anything without an up charge. With so many choices it’s a great way to satisfy everyone. Their large pizzas are huge too, so they go a long way to satiate the hungry. Full bar, great beers on tap, good service and cool décor– what more could I ask for?!

What a great variety of veggies pizzas, loved the squash on the pizza. Also had two different salads, nice to have a local pizza place and not a chain. Really good ingredients. :P
