Karamba Cafe

Under new ownership, service was poor. We received our drinks thirty minutes after we were seated and food another thirty minutes later. The roast pork was inedible, just a plate full of fat and the chicken empanadas were just that… Chicken, with absolutely no flavor. If you’re looking for the taste of the old Karamba please don’t come here! Only giving it one star to post the review.

Went there for breakfast again – that’s the only meal that I enjoy there. The food was still tasty but it was cold. Had to return the food to be heated but got different food back!!! Also ordered a large coffee and my coffee was brought in a small cup that was a different shape from their regular cup. Waitress tried to tell me that it was large. Asked for a regular cup of coffee afterwards and volume of coffee was exactly the same as their «large» coffee. I think they are charging their customers for a large coffee even though it is really a regular size.
Lastly, their website says that they open at 9 for breakfast but don’t really open until 10am.
Not sure if I will be going back. We’ll see…

Never again! We ordered seafood paella… Now I paid $ 33 for a tray of rice!!! It had 3 shrimp, 3 clams, 1 ½ lobster tails. And maybe 2 legs of crab cut up in shells. What a waste of money. The Cuban sandwich had no mustard!!!

Very disappointed in my cold food tonight, I believe there’s also some new staff that’s extremely inattentive to customers, I’m hoping for better food and service next visit it’s normally good.

Dry. Everything was just DRY.
Even the beans on top of the rice. They drain the beans making it just dry. The chicken had no flavor and just so dry. Not much to say just dry.
My co-​workers agreed and we would not be ordering again.

I’m a big fan of this place. When i worked in White Plains I went to this place occasionally for lunch. Before I continue, the only reason I went there occasionally instead of regularly was because 20 minutes after you are done consuming this greatness, you enter a food coma that knows no bounds You might as well wrap up the 2^nd half of the work day in saran wrap and throw it away because there is no chance you are working at an effective level after eating here.
You walk in and they have many different foods to choose from right in front of you. I preferred to do take-​out because they gave you more food. You get to choose from one meat, rice, beans, and you always get some plantains. Everything is so good and cooked to perfection.
The portions are AMAZING. You get more than you could ever ask for all for around 8 bucks. Can’t beat the price for the amount of food you are getting. This place would be one of the first places i recommend for lunch in White Plains, but know what you are getting into before you go. Make sure you don’t have a busy day where you are moving around a lot.

Food and service are very good. I gave this place three stars because although very tasty the food always arrives to my table cold. I send it back to have it heated and that makes me nervous. Sadly we stopped going here. It’s unfortunate because I really liked the food and the location. You can easily park at your car at the Galleria Mall directly across the street.

Can I give this a negative star?
Don’t ever waste your time in this «authentic» food store. It’s not authentic at all. I don’t trust anywhere where food sits under a heat lamp and a plate of pork arrives faster than a simple BLT sandwich. Nobody here knew how to speak English which boggles my mind at how you can hire people who don’t, and when asking them questions about the menu they had no clue. It was just a sad place to spend money on when none of the food came on time and it took them forever to make a fucking sandwich. WE WERE THE ONLY CUSTOMERS IN THE CAFE and the wait staff sat around talking and doing nothing and in the back our food took FOREVER TO GET TO OUR TABLE because someone had to celebrate their birthday in the middle of the shift? Are you kidding me? That’s like people breaking out in song and dance at Starbucks in the middle of making a drink. A drink! All we had asked for was water. It was honestly a horrible completely unprofessional experience and I wouldn’t even give them ONE STAR, the food is so basic and flavorless. How do you make beans and pork taste bland? I don’t know, ask Karama Café. What a waste of time and potential Café space.
I will never come back here again.

Good is good but the service could not be slower! We went at around 5pm and they had one more table with 4 customers, yet we had to wait 45 minutes for our food.

DO NOT ORDER VIA DELIVERY FROM HERE! Or else a 30mins estimated time turns into a 2 hour ordeal. The ladies that picked up the phone are so rude & unhelpful. One of them even hung up on me when I wanted to cancel the delivery. Very unprofessional. Take delivery off your menu if you can’t handle «too many deliveries»

Excellent Latin food. If your looking for Puerto Rican or Dominican food this is a great spot. Excellent mofongo.

The waitress did not even speak Spanish and made several mistakes over the course of our meal. I got a mofongo but the chicarrón was really hard… I don’t think it was suppose to be such tough meat. But ether way, it was unpleasant for my TMJ issue. It hurt to chew a minute into eating it. Her timing of getting our food out was also random and not thought out. The sauce for my mofongo wasn’t brought out until I was done eating half of it already. Oh well, probably won’t be returning here for a while.

I use to come here a lot and I really use to love it. I have noticed that the taste of the food has been more salty.
The waitress we had was not on her game. She got my fish wrong and proceeded to argue with me about what Asapao is which is not chicken soup.

Great place to grab lunch to go when at work. You pick what you want and they put together a giant tasty plate for you. I especially love the cod stew that they have on Fridays!

If this is the best Spanish place in white Plains. …then white plains missing a lot…:(location was great in the hub of financial district and décor was okay… but food was extremely tasteless and blunt. I think I never had such a tasteless chicken in my life… not from generic Chinese store, KFC or Boston markets chicken. !!!please do something and save our pollo…

Great place to have a GOOD Spanish meal. The staff is friendly and ready to take care of you. The prices are reasonable.

Customer service is beyond disgusting. They be on their phones playing Clash of clans. The waitress are horrible and don’t give the customers what they ask for. I went once and asked for stew chicken and asked her for chicken breast as that is the only thing I eat and she fought with me over that they don’t do such thing. in other words, you get what they serve you. I left the place that day. I went today and asked for grilled chicken breast. After waiting for almost 20 minutes out of my 30 minutes lunch break, the girl in the kitchen did not hear the order. I don’t blame her. I blame the waitress. she speaks as if she doesn’t have energy and she is rude. I used to like this place but not even the food taste like Hispanic. I don’t recommend this place.

Best Chicharon de pollo. My tostones could have been toastier.
They ought to step up the wait staff to get better service. One guy seems too take a little too long.
Also, the TV’s always have a sports channel… boring! It’s Christmas, play Christmas carols or something other than sports.

Consistent delicious dominican food.
I come here when ever I’m in Westchester and looking for a good meal at a reasonable price. I get the lunch special every time. (doesn’t have to be lunch time to order the special). you get a large serving of rice and beans plus your choice of meat and plantains. I usually get the stewed chicken which is always flavorful and moist.
The one thing ill advise is be careful what you order from the special. Everything eligible for the special is pre cooked and sitting for a while, the beef is going to be tuff just due to how its served, I wouldn’t order that again. The stew chicken, baked chicken and bacalao are all winners. Another item I recommend (not part of the special) is their fried chicken breast. Nice crispy breaded exterior, juicy and very tasty.
I’ve been to Karamba about four times and the food has always been on point and the service has always been quick and helpful. Solid 4 stars.
