The original pancake house is our go to breakfast spot. The 49 ers and Dutch Babies are exceptional. They use fresh ingredients. Wait times can be long and service can be inconsistent. But the pancakes make up for it. Hash browns are not that great but all else is!

The food was about average, maybe a little better. I’ve had the pancakes before and they are decent as far as pancakes go. Had the Huevos Rancheros today — again, average offering. If I ever make it back, I would try the Dutch baby as it’s the only other item I think that could make me venture back after the level of service received today. Lou was the waiter and normally, I have a good understanding of stress and the service industry but when confronted with easy requests like, «Can I please have a glass of water?» or «I had ordered decaf, can I please have a refill?»(as the large carafe on the table was high test) he actually rolled his eyes and walked away. Every request, even those presented with ‘please’ and ‘thank you’s’ were met by the same eye roll. We were a table of 6, so I’m surprised he didn’t have eye strain by the time we left. Everybody has a rough day but his behavior really influenced my review. It’s going to be a long time before I give this place a try again — especially with all the diner’s on 10.

Had brunch here while waiting for my client. Ordered the strawberry+blueberry crêpe which I thought was pretty tasty. They also have kona coffee here. Makes me miss Hawaii a bit. Breakfast food here is good, but service is subpar at best. Doesnt seem to have a great organization here

Really good corned beef and eggs. Pancakes are just ok. Some dishes have gigantic portions(like the corned beef) but other dishes are small(like the huevos rancheros). Super kid friendly.

Servers are excellent though today the hostess was having trouble keeping up with seating guests as the tables opened up. The buttermilk pancakes are some of the best I’ve ever had, and they serve it with real maple syrup. We ordered the baked omelets which, while they looked amazing, were actually very greasy. There’s enough choice on the menu for us to go back, I just wouldn’t order an omelet again.

My friends and I have been going here for years and it never disappoints! It’s located right on route 10 in a strip mall— the hours are super limited(close at 3pm) and it can get packed. They have all types of pancakes and everything we’be tried is yummy! Chicken sausage, fresh squeezed orange juice, thick cut bacon… List goes on. Prices are pretty standards(comparable to IHOP, maybe a tad more but nothing to break the bank). The service is also very good, they are attentive and my food comes out just the way I asked. Can you guess I’ll be back lol

A good place for breakfast… they never disappoint me for a big breakfast… located inside a strip mall, and only open for breakfast and lunch… definitely better then your IHOP… Should try their Dutch baby! come with lemon and powder sugar… it’s big enough to share between 2 people… the pancake is also very fluffy, not dense… the portion size seems big… so i am sure if you have a big group… you can and should share so you don’t have to force yourself to finish everything…

The 49ers here are sex worthy. They look good. They smell good. They are smooth and delicate. I want to bring then home to mother. Just get here earlier or you might murder your first born.

I have always loved the food here. I still do. Unfortunately recent changes have not been for the better. I have noticed that while prices have remained the same or have gone up, portions have gotten smaller. I received my order of banana pancakes and said«I didn’t order silver dollar pancakes did I… and did I order a short stack?». The size and number of pancakes are massively smaller than they used to be. The prices should reflect the 50% reduction in portion. I also noticed the«new» menus looked stripped down and bare. The entire experience feels stripped down and corners cut. The quality of the food is still excellent. But the smaller portions for the same prices is unacceptable. I will go to my neighborhood diner for pancakes at a better price when I’m feeling the need to indulge. It’s so disappointing bc I really used to love this place. Now it just feels like a rip off.

Worlds best buttermilk pancakes. The whip cream is extra but totally worth it. The rest of their menu is different but not to my taste. The service is usually courteous and fast. Weekends can get busy here. Coffee is is also good and is refilled frequently.

Can’t beat OPH! Great food, great servers! Try the Dutch baby with lemon, butter and powdered sugar — the thick cut bacon — the huge omelettes — the from scratch buttermilk pancakes — the amazing pumpkin pancakes — the kona blend coffee Theres often a wait on the weekends, but the weekdays are usually the best time to come without a wait!

One addendum to this review. This place has the best pumpkin pancakes I have had. I also just had the gingerbread pancakes and they were absolutely to die for

This place is very good with food that was tasty and made from scratch. My eggs were wonderful and The dutchbaby pancake was wonderful. If the prices were a little lower I would have given 5 stars.

My wife and myself when here for lunch and ended up having breakfast instead The baked western omelette is the best, too much to eat for one person. My wife had a Dutch baby which was also delicious. It’s how about a 20 minute wait to get your order but it’s worth the wait.

I stopped in for brunch here before a hike in Northern NJ and was very impressed overall. As mentioned in other reviews, you should expect a 20 – 30 minute wait on weekends, so I wouldn’t recommend eating here if you are in a hurry. Long wait endured, once my party was finally seated, the quality of food and service more than made up for it! We ordered a western omelette(which included 3 of their signature sourdough pancakes) and the apple pancake, both of which were sizable enough to fully satiate three hungry people! The omelette was light and fluffy(yet still substantial) and tasted like it was made with good quality ingredients. The apple pancake was rich and decadent, but not as sickeningly sweet as it could have been. I doubt I could have eaten more than a third of it though — it really packs quite a punch! My favorite dish was(not too surprisingly) their signature sourdough pancakes, which had a flavor and texture unlike any other pancakes I have ever tasted. I’m normally not much of a pancake person either, so this should give you a sense of how tasty they were! Prices were fairly reasonable for the amount of food we received and the waitstaff was highly courteous and efficient. I would definitely consider returning to this location if I find myself in the area again and will have to be on the lookout for other franchise locations. Good stuff.

Haven’t been here since the remodel and it looks spectacular. The food is also amazing. I came in with a friend for some breakfast and we were not disappointed. We ordered an omlette and coconut pancakes. The omlettes are HUGE. The waitress told us that they use 5 eggs. Between the two of us, we couldn’t finish our meal. But we left there will full stomachs! This place has definitely improved since I was there last!

Amazing fresh breakfast with everything made from scratch. I had the eggs black stone with a side of pancakes and fresh strawberries and whipped cream. I came with my mother who has celiacs and is gluten, soy, and dairy free and they were extremely accommodating and she loved her gluten free waffle! I also love their bacon because it’s very thick, not like the thin skimpy pieces most diners give you. Sometimes on the weekend it can get VERY crowded, especially on Sunday’s, but it’s worth the wait!

Same menu here as the one in West Caldwell. Red velvet pancakes, almond cinnamon French toast are the standouts. Decent coffee and juices. I had a crêpe today with feta cheese, spinach and mushrooms and home fries. Specials included gingerbread and pumpkin pancakes. More parking and more seating at this location than its W. Caldwell sister. Food and service is just as good.
