We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, and they were not buys at all. We were promptly greeted and seating. Our server saw us and stopped by shortly thereafter telling us he would be right with us… About 10 minutes later he did stop by. We ordered everything, food and drinks(mind you two iced teas and a Pepsi). Another 8 minutes goes by. My husband gets his soup, still no tea, Pepsi or even water. We have to flag down another waiter. It still takes another 5 minutes to get our drinks. So over 20 minutes from the time we sat down just to get some water. Our appetizer comes out and less than five minutes later our food is there. My food almost got cold waiting yet again on the waiter so I could ask for condiments. The waiter never stopped by again to ask how everything was. I had to ask again for more iced tea, which he gave me tea, no ice. By that time I just wanted to leave. The food was good, but the service was horrible.

This is our 4th time going here and each time was horrible!!! We kept going back because of the location, the view/area is very nice. Three out of four times we got stuck with the same waiter, I think he’s name is Billy(older gentleman w gray hair). He was extremely unfriendly, slow, and forgetful. Our food took way to long. The table next to us came in after us and had a different waitress and they received their food way before us. The food was okay, not worth the price. Overall, the service was horrible but the food was okay. They need to hire new friendly people!

We met up with a few friends for dinner here on a Saturday night. The place was popping and we waited about an hour for a table. We had a lot to chat about so the hour went quick, but if I came back, I’d try to come earlier to avoid the rush. Everyone we spoke with(hostesses, bartenders, servers) were all accommodating and nice, although conversations were understandably rushed. I decided to try the fish tacos because I can rarely pass them up, no matter the location. They were a solid option and I wouldn’t hesitate to order them twice. I also got the truffle fries and cheddar ale soup. The fries were pretty good but the soup was incredible. I honestly wish I ordered a bigger portion or at least ordered an extra. It also comes with a pretzel twist so don’t skip it– even if you’re avoiding carbs.(It’s worth the cheat. Trust me) We sampled a few of the beers and I really liked all of the ones I tried. I think this is a great location for dinner because the menu is vast and they even accommodate gluten free.

I have been here a handful of times, because it’s just so convenient for me… every time we end up downtown Wheaton, we end up here. The atmosphere is pretty nice, and I’ve had very good service every time I’ve been here. Last time I ended up here it was just for some cocktails with my friends after a mediocre dinner elsewhere. We had tried to stop in to the Irish place next door, but it was too crowded and we were being stared at by the patrons in a weird manner… and then no one would help us… so we left and came here. The bartender was awesome, super helpful. I don’t drink beer, so I can’t really speak to the beer selection at all. My friends seemed happy with what they ordered… so there’s that. My drinks were good, though I order really basic drinks… so … it really doesn’t show anything great about anyone. But the service was really excellent, and the prices aren’t terrible. That said… this last time we went… it really did smell awful in there. I hope they get whatever is causing that terrible smell under control. The other times I’ve been here was for lunch. The food was always good, and the prices are pretty decent. The service has been good each time I’ve been here. I will be back again, I’ve had good experiences here, so I will likely be back.

Low grade dog food and a clueless wait staff. They may make it through the summer but that will be it.

We decided to try Emmett’s for a late lunch. Walking it was a little dark and it was musty smelling. We were the only one’s in the place at 2:30. That could be normal for them. We ordered a beer and a glass of wine to start. They no longer had the wine even though it was still on the wine list. We left and went to Warren’s Ale House.

We’ve been fans of the Bank for some time and have enjoyed the atmosphere, the food, and the service. Not much of that has changed — except for the obvious home brew beer element that is defining Emmet’s. Service continues to be very good and the atmosphere is far from pretentious. It’s good for families and for couples. Our most recent trip to Emmet’s involved a simple lunch of burgers and wine. The burgers were so overcooked, it was sad. Kobe burger ordered medium and delivered medium well/well done. So dry and disappointing. The red ale, which the bartender allowed us to sample(we sat at the bar) was not very good. The bartender agreed that most people didn’t care for it. We then tried the ESP, more of a brown ale, and it was pretty good, but not enough to make me bite. I chose wine instead. Emmet’s is a pretty good restaurant. The service is consistently very good. So, they have that going for them. I think the kitchen needs some work.

We were very excited when Emmett’s opened a couple blocks away from our place and even got an Emmett’s card. We’ve given them 4 or 5 second chances and every trip has been disappointing: mostly with regard to the food quality and order errors. We won’t be back.

We finally decided to give Emmett’s a try after walking past it numerous times and seeing that it was seemingly a very popular place. We stopped in on a Thursday evening around 6pm. It wasn’t very busy, there were a couple people sitting at the bar and high tops in the bar section open, so we just grabbed one of those. It didn’t look like the main dining room was very full, however I didn’t get a good look at it. It took some time for our waiter to greet us, which was strange, because it seemed like they were way over staffed for the night. He also seemed new, so we didn’t let it bother us at all. My fiancé ordered a drink, which took about 15min for her to get. Apparently the drink takes a minute to make and the bartender wasn’t looking forward to making this particular drink, even though it’s a «specialty» on their menu, so she focused on socializing. Once she got her drink, we put in our food orders. I went with the chicken sandwich and she got the lettuce wraps. The food definitely took longer than that type of order took, but again, we tried to not let it bother us. Once it came, it wasn’t hot and came with a sauce that I specifically said I didn’t want. If it would have came hot, I think it definitely would have made my sandwich better, but a cold chicken sandwich isn’t exactly desirable. She said her lettuce wraps weren’t great, but they weren’t awful either. The only thing that I’d say was really good were the truffle fries. They were thicker than the usual truffle fries, however they were really good. Overall, I’d say it was a C– experience. Considering the restaurant wasn’t even close to full, the service was really slow and they really didn’t seem interested in providing us a great experience. The food was average, at best, and the truffle fries were good. Not sure if we’ll be back, but there are certainly better choices in the area.

A group of us stopped here for a couple cocktails and snacks between a wedding and reception. The atmosphere was great, we took a tour of the place and were shown around the old vault and safety deposit area. There is some great history here. We just had a few appetizers and drinks and all were great. In a place like this I like to ask the bartender how he feels about making an Old Fashioned and he was actually excited to show his skills. Not many people do it right but if you like them and Andrey is at the bar, let him make you one his way. You can trust me on this, it’s the right way. This place is a little far from home but next time I’m in the area, I will definitely make another visit.

This is an improvement on The Bank, in my opinion, but that’s not necessarily saying much. While their food is still not great and service is spotty, they make excellent concessions for entertaining kids, which is a pretty smart business move in family-oriented Wheaton. I sure wouldn’t want to come here for date night, but if we needed a place to have some standard American food with our young kids, we’d come here again.

Good riddance to the Bank! We have been a dozen or so times now and the food is great, service is solid but we have only eaten at the bar and gone for lunch. It’s nice to finally have a good ‘regular’ place to grab lunch.

Like the food, people have said the beers aren’t that great but I think they’re fine. Favorite is the Cream Ale. Bad service though, bartender looks like a bad guy from Aladdin and has a shitty attitude. The Bank was better.

Upscale American pub atmosphere and fare. Cute building(cannot remember what this place used to be! Not ‘The Bank’ … before that. Back when Wheaton was dry and there were no restaurants or nightlife of any kind downtown. Back in the ‘all the traffic lights go to flashing red because its a ghost town’ days. When the religious shop was Reuss’s and the corner was Gaede’s. This was a print shop of some kind, I want to say?) Mini plate + paddle was a fun and affordable combo. Sweet potato fries were perfect. I’ll second the slow service comments I’m seeing. It was indeed slow. We were there for a leisurely pint and conversation, so not a bother for our party, but could have been if we were in a less lackadaisical mood. Also: I genuinely thought the place might have closed at 8pm. We were practically the only ones there at that hour, and staff appeared to be cleaning up. Guess things haven’t moved *that* far from ghost town-after-7pm days.

I was in downtown Wheaton and thought I would stop in here for a beer. I had been here when it was The Bank and I thought there food and drinks were pretty good. I was not impressed with this new restaurant at all. We walked in and there was no host at the front door so we decided to sit at the bar. There were only a few people sitting at the bar and the rest of the counter was dirty. We sat there for quite some time before the bartender offered beer a sample. I found one beer that I liked an ordered one. I was surprised by the dirty glasses that sat behind the bar almost the entire time I was there. I was caught off guard by how dirty the restaurant seemed. My feet stuck to the floor and the overall appearance was not impressive. I glanced at the food menu but nothing jumped out at me. I did not order food so I can not review that. The bartender mentioned the brewery that would be opening in the basement. She said we could go down and take a look. I looked around and tried to get an idea of what would be offered. A manager walked down and tried to explain things but he was not sure about certain processes. Overall– The beer was ok, service could be improved, and the cleanliness could use a lot of work. I might stop in again for a beer but I don’t think I would ever eat here.

The place was packed being a summer Fri night in downtown Wheaton. We waited 45 minutes for a table for 2 which was fine since we could check out the antique car show outside. The hostesses were pleasant and phoned us when our table was ready. Once seated, our server was engaging and seemed well informed about the food and beverages. Unfortunately, the kitchen has some issues. We ordered pretzels for an appetizer. 20 minutes later we were served ice cold on the inside and somewhat warm on the outside pretzels sticks. Our server took care of the problem promptly by taking the plate and offering us our next course. Great… Cuz we are pretty hungry now. Our soups and salads took an additional 20 minutes to arrive.(I assume our server was in the weeds here) Another 30 minutes or so later our entrees arrived. The prime rib was decent but it was served with an uncooked«baked» potato. The fried cod was really tasty but again, the fries were par-cooked. Overall, our server tried to accommodate us but he seemed to be playing catch up most of the time from what I saw at other tables. The cooked food was decent. The beer was decent. The 2.5 hours of time spent on a Friday night to simply eat a partially cooked meal at Emmet’s… Not cool. Hoping they work out the kinks soon because the location is awesome.

The best thing about«The Bank» when it was here was the room. The best thing about«Emmett’s»(since they took over) is about the same. This is a real disappointment since we’ve been to some of their other locations and had a better(not great) experience. The hostess was completely uninterested in us, wanting to seat us right in the path of the kitchen door(despite the fact that there were better seats available) We finally told her that we would just sit in the bar. They were short on wait staff. the waits were excruciating. They were out of diet sodas. I started with the steak and black bean chili, it wasn’t chilly. but it wasn’t hot either. It was tasty but I wouldn’t seek it out. I ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca, it was OK with a potential towards very good. Ok, because it wasn’t very hot(Potatoes were actually cool) and the artichokes were kind of dry. I’ve had a more successful version of this at another one of their locations. Lisa started with the beer cheese(Cheddar Ale) soup, it was good and came with a good pretzel roll, the portion seemed a bit light for a «bowl» My «cup» of chili seemed to offer as much. Then she had a small plate fish taco with fries, it was good but pricey for what you got. The fries were lukewarm(I’m being generous) Overall a disappointing experience and we will be very reluctant to try it again.

It’s not often that I crave a salad, but I seriously have been thinking about Emmet’s raspberry walnut salad since I enjoyed it earlier this week. From what I’ve gathered, this Wheaton location is newer. Others have complained about the service, but I have to say we loved our waitress! She chit-chatted with us, shared the specials, and helped us make menu choices. On top of her game for sure. They have an outdoor patio which I highly suggest taking advantage of! It was lovely enjoying the beautiful weather while sipping on a glass of wine. I had their California Pinot Grigio which was $ 7. Now the salad… Perfect and refreshing for a warm day! This green goddess includes a large bed of mixed greens, grilled chicken(or salmon for an up charge), walnuts, blue cheese crumbles, craisons, and pear slices topped with a raspberry vinegarette. Pretty sure this combo will be my go to salad choice of the season. I highly suggest! I’ll have to come back to check out the beers since well, ya know, they are a brewing company! Pro tip: Emmet’s is located right off the metra!

The staff was friendly and there were over a dozen regular and seasonal beer selections. They are kid friendly and have a standard kid menu and give out crayons. The pretzel twists appetizer was delicious. The pretzels were soft and the honey mustard dipping sauce paired well. The brewer’s chicken sandwich was really good. The soft pretzel bun was a great fit for this sandwich. My hubby had the fire starter burger and said it had a very balanced flavor and wasn’t too spicy. The sweet potato fries and the chips were very good. Hoptweet was exactly as billed. A pale ale, with vibrant fruit notes. Patriot’s Pride had a very noticeable roasted malt character, in the style of a scotch ale. The hubby is looking forward to trying more. We definitely feel like we need to try more of this menu since everything was really good.
