Just flew in from Dallas late last night and made it to the Mad Hatter by about 12:30 from Boston starving for breakfast. This place far exceeded my expectations and I wished I lived closer. I had the eggs Benedict with Irish bacon and my wife had a «simple» breakfast sandwich with bacon, eggs and cheddar on a croissant. Her sandwich was gigantic and had at least 8 strips of country fresh bacon. My eggs were cooked perfectly and all of the waitresses were there to make sure you were happy and taken care of. Don’t pass this place up!

Best hearty breakfast I’ve ever had! The Irish breakfast plate will fill you up and is excellent. The eggs Benedict with lobster was simply fantastic. I will be back :)

My boyfriend and I rarely go out to eat and when we do it’s usually for breakfast. Over the last year all our regular places have dipped into the not so good anymore category. Today we tried something new and ventured to this little side of the road place, and boy was it worth it. We both got a mad hatter delight with a side of bacon. It arrived quickly and piping hot! The meal was a puff pastry square stuffed full of REAL corned beef hash, topped with a jalapeño aioli and 2 fried eggs. Alone each component was delicious but when eating all together it was the best bite of breakfast food ever. We could have easily only had on side of bacon as 2 was more than we could finish (past places you get a measly 2 pieces for 3 $, theirs was at least 6 for the same price) The wait staff was all wonderful and pleasent. Not to mention they all had delightful Irish brogues. Will absolutely be returning in the future! I need to try the cereal French toast!

Great service and a delicious breakfast. Expect to wait a little bit though before you actually get seated. But it’s not their fault, they’re just popular and for good reason.

The previous reviewers nailed it on this one. The Mad Hatter has friendly staff and really nice food. I had the highly recommended corned beef hash and it was great! Big chunks of house-made corned beef and potatoes surmounted by a couple of eggs your way. Toast of your choice too. The lunch rush slowed as I was finishing and the owner/chef came out of the kitchen for a quick break and I got to chat briefly with him. A customer next to me had the lobster roll which was heavy on the lobster and light on fillers and looked delicious. I don’t get to Weymouth often, but when I do this will be a definite stop!

This is long overdue. I have been eating here fairly often for the past 6 months and the food and service are amazing. It’s a small establishment so be prepared to wait a few minutes, but it’s definitely worth it. The staff are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet, always have a smile on their faces and seem to genuinely enjoy their work despite busting their humps nonstop. Everything I have eaten is delicious. In fact, when I try something new it generally becomes«my new favorite item» on the menu.

The Mad Hatter café is my regular spot for breakfast when I have a rare day off. Don’t be fooled by what may at first glance appear to be an average size menu, because they balance it with a healthy dose of delicious daily specials and fresh smoothies. Not to mention I suspect they’ll accommodate any reasonable request. The food has been consistently fresh and delicious on each of my many visits, and the waitstaff courteous and attentive. On my last visit I had the shaved steak omelet(special). When I was had finished cleaning my plate, I let out a heavy sigh knowing that it would probably be quite some time before I could get back here to consume another. I suspect the gentlemen manning the(open) kitchen to be the owner of this establishment from the obvious care he takes in crafting each plate. The only downside to the Mad Hatter Café is the small size of its dining room and often full parking lot. If you don’t mind waiting for a table to open up(there’s a small waiting area outside) you’re taste buds will quite grateful that you did. Note: I’ve only been here for breakfast(served all day) so I cannot speak to the lunch menu.

I have eaten there twice, Both times the food was heavenly. The only thing is the phone number listed is either wrong or they don’t pick up their phone, Was going to go there for breakfast this morning, but I wanted a to go order and called twice and got voicemail, so I ordered form another place. They are extremely accommedating to those of us with food allergies.

I’ve discovered this place a year ago and I’ve been going there every couple of months because I love it. They still have amazing staff — though honestly the quality of their food is just not as good anymore; their food is so greasy now the last two times I was there I felt like after every bit I was having irregular heartbeat! I’m a bit disappointed; won’t be going back here for a while!!!

Absolutely phenomenal breakfast joint! They were on a wait when we got there, but so worth it! The proper Irish breakfast on the menu was fantastic. The Benedict trio was outstanding as well! And half the staff had an Irish brogue, so that added to the ambience. Oh, and you have to try the crunchy French toast! It sounds so wrong, but tastes so right!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. What a find! Came here on a Monday for brunch and waited about 20 minutes for table… No big deal though because they have a perfect little coffee window, so we got our caffeine on while we waited. There are only about 15 or so tables in the place so I would imagine you should always anticipate a bit of a wait. TOTALLYWORTHITTHOUGH. I would have tried everything in the menu if I could, but we decided on the French toast, home made corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and home made soda bread, and the breakfast burger. Everything was unreal good. There was a lot of moaning happening on our table. We will absolutely be back to try everything else.

The Mad Hatter is my fiancé and my favorite breakfast joint. There normally is a wait for a table but it is so worth the wait! The portions are HUGE, the toast is made of nice thick pieces of bread, the seasoning on the homefries are amazing, everything is cooked to perfection, and their coffee is delicious. The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. My fiancé and I are creatures of habit so we don’t stray far from our usuals but can highly recommend the crunchy french toast and the prime rib! The only downside beside the wait is the small parking lot but again, it’s so worth it!

Popular place in the neighborhood that’s located right off Route 3. Was busy when I visited, but found the food to be okay. Ordered a muffin with my egg combo and it was on the drier side. People there seemed pleasant.

Voted best breakfast on the south shore! Amazing food with ample portions quickly served to you with friendly funny courteous staff! They always have different specials to satisfy your taste buds and tummy! Although there can be a wait to get in, the turn around is quick! Quite evident why they are the best breakfast place on the south shore! But… they have great lunches until 3!

Hubby and I are always looking for new breakfast places to try out. A friend recommended Mad Hatter and we were not disappointed! The restaurant is small as well as their parking lot. We were lucky that we did not have to wait for parking or a table on the day we went. The waitresses were so nice and patient because we just couldn’t decide what to try. Hubby ordered the Irish breakfast and I ordered the corned beef hash with eggs. SODELICIOUS! The food was excellent. We definitely plan to come back more often even though it’s quite a drive for us. Well worth it!

My sister and I have gone for breakfast several times. There is usually a wait, but it is worth it! Staff is super friendly, food is awesome. One of my favorites has been their hash and eggs. This is no hash out of a can, it’s home-made and FABULOUS! Today(St Patty’s Day) I had pre-ordered dinner and I have to say it was the BEST corn beef I have had in my life(sorry Mom). It was so tender… hoping they make on a regular basis so I don’t have to wait until 3÷17÷2017. If you go and see a line… don’t let it scare you off, you won’t regret it.

How many times have I been up and down this road and never once noticed this gem? SOMANYTIMES! Thanks to Unilocal though I now know the glory. The food is good, the place is cozy(yes, it’s small, but I like that), and the service is fast and nice. We went on a Sunday, so there was a long wait, but it was sunny out and we braved the winter chill outside for a bit until we could fit in the little enclosed waiting area. It’s cool they have a little take out window there too, nice if you need your coffee while you’re waiting to sit too. SO many great-sounding specials when we went in. I with they’d be written on the chalk board or something though, it was hard to keep up and I felt bad asking for a repeat when it was clearly pretty busy. I can’t wait to come by, might try a weekday or just earlier on Sunday to lessen the wait. What did we eat? Well, he had the cornedbeef hash and said it was great. I tried it, but I’ve never really had a liking of it anywhere in my life. BUT! I had some of the MOST delicious pancakes EVER at this place. SO good!

Boston is quickly becoming my absolute favorite place to visit for business. For whatever reason, the clients I visit there seem to be kindred spirits of mine as far as mentality, so I was naturally pretty excited when they picked me up and informed me they were taking me to a «local joint» for breakfast. The Mad Hatter is so small if you blink you will miss it, but the parking lot was sure jam packed at 8AM when we stopped in for breakfast. We literally had to wait there for several minutes until somebody left before we could pull in. The inside is about as rustic and old school Boston as you can possibly imagine, with an Irish theme that is about as subtle as being kicked in the nuts with a steel toed boot. The place is unapologetic in it’s execution of the old school, and it would not surprise me in the least if my experience here would of been identical if it had taken place in 1985. There were 2 servers covering the probably 25 or so tables jammed into this tiny location, and they worked the room with military precision. They also both spoke in a very heavy Gaelic/Boston accent that was somewhat similar to how Brad Pitt’s character sounded in the movie«Snatch». Not gonna lie, I found it the accent on these girls insanely hot. Menu here is fairly vast, especially for such a small joint, but the«Irish breakfast», ordered by everyone but me, is featured prominently on page one and is clearly an area of emphasis. It looked about like an «English breakfast» best I could tell, though I am sure there are subtle differences. I decided instead to go with the corned beef hash with eggs, as it is a personal fav of mine. Ordering hash is about like ordering meatloaf when you are out and about as it is a total dice roll. However, I am happy to report the hash here was fantastic. They seared the outside prior to serving so it had a bit of crispiness to it and the flavor was out of this world. I devoured it in short order. I will undoubtedly be back in Boston as some point in the near future and will with 100% certainty return to this place for breakfast. The service was good, the food was outstanding, and the prices are just a tad above the greasy spoon norm.

I’m a super fan after one visit. We went early on a Saturday morning(around 8:30AM). Upon arrival, you are asked for your name and then told to wait outside. My theory on this is the staggered seating allows them to control the flow of orders into the kitchen. While waiting outside, we noticed that there is a to-go take-out window from whence you can place an order to eat outside or take home with you. Good to know. A mere five minutes later, we are called and seated at the counter(yay, I love counter seats!) The coffee was unusually good for a diner. I mean, really tasty. Plus, they had big jugs of cold brew ready to go over ice for the iced coffee fanatics(the pumpkin spice was runnin’ low, so I’m guessing its seasonal popularity is matched by its deliciousness). My husband got the cheese steak omelet, but it failed to impress him(I had a bite and it was cooked very well, but a little bland). His side of bacon and toast filled him up along with a few bites of the omelet, but overall, he wished he had gone with his first instinct and gotten the strawberry pancakes. Whatever. Cause my meal was bomb. The homemade hash is excellent. I had it with two eggs over easy and an English Muffin. TOP. EFFIN. NOTCH. I really want to come back to try the pancakes, and the crunchy French toast, and the Irish breakfast, and the iced coffee, and have another side of hash. In no particular order.

A grill diner type restaurant that should be Diners Drive-ins and Dives. Come on Guy and come on regulars! I asked the wait staff and she said no they have not been featured on that show. Breakfast and lunch. Sandwiches such as grilled portobello mushroom panini to Cuban sandwich to lobster roll, soups what else New England chowder. But you come here for the all day breakfast items. I had one of their specials. The pot roast, two eggs, potatoes with the special seasoning and Irish bread. Big portions and the pot roast was out of this world. Slow cooked and tender with a flavorful brown gravy. Fast service. Friendly service. Created immediately. The owner obviously knew I was not a regular or even from Massachusetts, came by to see how I was doing. A+ Walk up window for carry out. I wanted to come back to try the traditional Irish breakfast but my travel plans changed. Hopefully I get back to the South Shore area again. Keep up the great work!
