Went here on a busy Valentine’s Day dinner with my girlfriend. The food and presentation were top notch, albeit on the pricey side. Then again, presentation WITH the meal is part of the deal at a place like this. I would have given this place 3 stars had the management been as accommodating as possible regarding an issue with the check. Both my lady and I never had a bad word to say about management or our server. If you’re willing to put some extra cash towards both food and an experience, give this place a shot.

Terrible service at the host desk! Went in to inquire about dinner and was ignored for a good 5 minutes. Then, the host(brunette– looked like a manager) seemed so busy she could not even be bothered to talk to me(they weren’t that busy– I was the only patron standing there). When I inquired about the bar area that was completely empty, I was given a snarky response. I am disgusted at the way I was treated! Small, dingy looking building too.

I enjoyed my time there with my daughter and husband. But the prices are really out of control for cooking your own food and we were still hungry so bigger potions for the price. The waiter was great. He was on top of everything. Really nice guy. Answered all our questions. The best part was the whole process of the night. The flow from the cheese to the oil to the chocolate. If the prices weren’t so high we’d go back often!

It’s not worth it. NOPE. I love fondue but service here was really slow and the food was too expensive. I was really sad because I was looking forward to it. :(I think it’d be better for me to invest in a fondue pot myself and make my own at home.

Had reservations thru open table and that was ok. The problem was at the bar while waiting for a table. I waited for my first drink about 10 minutes before the bartender came over, mind you that there is 6 yes 6 bar stools at this bar. He apparently was trying to service every server before his own bar patrons. After waiting another 15 minutes and after I called him over for service he began to lecture me on how I must wait my turn(What a Joke). I at that point spoke with the manager who just stood there and stared. We decided to dine next door at BiBI, s where they were very accommodating and the dinner was Great. The bill was in access of 175.00 including drinks. The parent company of The Melting Pot should the a long hard look at there Westwood store and who they hire for bar service. We will NEVER go to The Melting Pot again EVER. PS I tried to contact there corporate office and found that there link was disabled and the phone number disconnected. Ws there 11⁄212015 at approx. 7:30PM

Today I went in to melting pot at 620 pm to celebrate my friends new job in Florida. We were greeted by(an adorably dressed!) manager who showed us to our table. John was our waiter and I have to tell you, it was amazing. He was not only able to answer all of our questions but was enthusiastic and easy to talk to. He is just the kind of person you want as a waiter. He was very attentive and willing to chat with us on a professional and personal level. We even took a selfie !! Give this guy a raise !

Nice romantic spit. Great for birthday dinners with that special someone. They have lots of special events like ladies nights and fundraisers nights for things like cancer awareness. Food is very good and the combinations are the best way to taste it all. They have a very unique craft beer offering. You always leave feeling full! Join their club for special offerings and events, plus you get a free box of delicious chocolate covered Strawberries.

Our birthday celebration was ruined. They literally burned our birthday girl because the waiter ploped down the wet cooking pot on the hot burner. That caused hot liquid to splatter all over my girls front chest. Yes she was wearing a dress. They offered burn cream. The waiter did not even apologize. It took awhile for the manager to come over with a burn cream… from the beginning the waiter dropped the serving dishes rudely. There was no attention to service even before the burning incident. Only after talking to the manager, the hot table was wiped to prevent the splatter. No one who’s dinning at this place should get burned or get this type of bad service. I hope the management take appropriate actions to prevent such negligent events to cause harm to their customers. Big dissatisfaction and disappointment!

Ordinarily I love this place, its usually top-notch, but, not Tonight; the waiter was just so-so. And, another miss of the evening was the dessert. Part of it came to us frozen. We would’ve told the waiter, But, he didn’t ask and just grabbed the payment and Left.

Nothing but praise for this location! A couple of weeks ago, my boyfriend surprised me with a Melting Pot experience(yes, experience, not dinner) at the Melting Pot in Westwood to celebrate our 4-year anniversary. All I can say is: He is going to have a tough time surpassing this year’s celebration next June! Everything from the staff to the food to the cleanliness(important!) was superb. They even had pink roses and a bottle of wine waiting at our(very secluded and private) table with a handwritten card from the staff, congratulating us. Our server, Aleksie, was outstanding. He was very courteous, funny, and pleasant. Somehow, he managed to always make sure our«dipper» plates were full without being overbearing or disrupting our conversation. He even offered to bring extra dessert dippers once it became clear we were going to polish off the first round! Food: The Fiesta cheese fondue was delicious. Aleksie made sure to customize it to our tolerance of spice, which made it perfect. To be honest, the salads are nothing to write home about. They were perfectly fresh but, let’s face it, you’re not there for the lettuce. The main course(we got the Classic and French Quarter dishes) was HUGE. Although it only looks like a few pieces of meat when they first bring it out, it sure fills you up. The dessert(S’mores for us) was beyond. The dippers were delicious and sure to please just about anyone — strawberries, bananas, pineapple, rice krispies, pound cake, brownies etc. To top off the night, Aleksie brought over a box of chocolate covered strawberries as an anniversary gift front he restaurant. How thoughtful! Although the night was relative pricey, it is expected and understandable; most people save 4-course fondue dinners for special occasions and mine was pretty close to perfect :)

Worst Melting Pot experience I’ve ever had. The food was fine, but the service was awful — something I have never once experienced in the dozen times I’ve been to the Whippany location. We waited to be greeted for 15 minutes until someone(not our server) took out drink order. Our server finally showed up after our drinks arrived and asked us what cheese we wanted. He came to our table 3 times total — asked us for our cheese order, mixed in the cheese — mixed in the dessert. That was it. Never checked in on us, never asked for refills on anything(which would’ve been nice after we ran out of bread and apples) and never dropped off our check. As a former server I would’ve been very understanding if he was swamped with tables, but he wasn’t. He was just hanging out near the host stand. Avoid this location if you can. The one in Whippany is so much nicer! Or just pray for a better server. :)

Came here with a free cheese fondue deal I received through their email blasts. Definitely worth it, no purchase necessary. We ended up ordering drinks and a dessert fondue as well, and everything was great. I enjoyed the dippers that came with the chocolate fondue especially — fresh fruit with marshmallows and brownies. Would definitely come again, but may hold out for another promotion seeing that it does end up being a bit pricey. Also, apparently they have happy hour drink specials during the week from 5 – 7. I wouldn’t mind going back during that time to try out some new drinks from the extensive menu.

Very overpriced. Not great quality seafood. Everyone left hungry and disappointed. Beautiful place, pleasant staff. Great wines and martinis. Amazing desserts. But would not have dinner here again. I love fondue but honestly Ive had more creative fondue dinner dishes at my parents house. Also let me say its been about a year since we ate at the melting pot.

I like and dislike The Melting Pot at the same time. The drinks are amazing — dinner is nothing special — and dessert is wonderful! Dinner — after eating dinner I was still really hungry — I felt that for the price of the food there should be more of it. But dessert, was phenomenal! I had got the milk chocolate and it comes with fruit, rice krispy treats, and cheesecake — it is soooo delicious! If you decide to go to The Melting Pot I would only go for drinks and dessert

My wife and I have been here many times. It is especially great for romantic dinners(I highly recommend the lovers lane section) which is why my wife and I have been coming for our anniversary for the past 8 years. The fondues are all awesome! The servers are consistently great and knowledgeable. It can be a bit on the pricy side if you do the 4 course meal that we do. But it is well worth every penny!

It’s okay. The cheese course is my favorite. The main course is pricy considering you’re cooking your own food and it doesn’t taste that great. The chocolate course is yummy but a little ridiculous considering how much they give you. I understand dipping fruit in the chocolate, but do we really need to be dipping brownies, cake, rice krispies treats, and cheesecakes as well? Honestly, I’d be happy with the cheese course and the salad. I go here with my girlfriends because they love it, but I’d rather go to a regular restaurant and just order a meal. It’s a long night, it’s expensive, it gets super hot in there(like, sweating) and the food is just okay.

HELLO? Anyone home? The Melting Pot is a FONDUE restaurant. For those of us who do not understand obscure French words, might I helpfully share the following entry from : __________________________________________________________ noun, plural fondues [fon-dooz, –dyooz, fon-dooz, –dyooz; French fawn-dy](Show IPA) 1. a saucelike dish of Swiss origin made with melted cheese and seasonings together with dry white wine, usually flavored with kirsch: served as a hot dip for pieces of bread. 2. a dish of hot liquid in which small pieces of food are cooked or dipped: beef fondue; chocolate fondue. __________________________________________________________ The entire experience involves skewering your food and dipping it in a variety of things that also includes, but is not limited to, cheese and/or chocolate. I have read several negative reviews that were critical of this process. Have to assume that the same geniuses would write a poor review of a swimming pool because they got wet. Yeah, it’s that stupid. I love The Melting Pot. Yeah, it’s kind of pricey but you can always order individual courses and take a pass on the favorite multi-course Big Night Out. I find it almost unbelievable that this place could get a negative review. It’s FUN, engaging, well decorated and the staff is beyond excellent. Their servers are among the best I’ve experienced. It’s my understanding that they go through fairly rigorous training before they are allowed out on their own. It shows. Oh, and the food is awesome. I don’t cook at home at all but there I have mad skillz. So, if you’re in the mood for something different, don’t mind spending a decent amount of cash on dinner and are fairly to extremely hungry, give them a try. Awesome choice for a special occasion, too.

Stick to the chocolate! Boiling your own steak doesn’t even sound appetizing and, spoiler, it is disgusting! The cheddar cheese fondue was bitter and unappetizing as well. Also, you will come to find the menu is quite overpriced considering you cook the food /dip the pieces yourself, and of course, everything besides the dessert is not worth the price-at all. Bottom line, unless you are only ordering from the chocolate fondue menu, go somewhere else for dinner!

Look out Ruth’s Chris here comes the Melting Pot. I am not sure why all places don’t boil their steak. Oh, that’s right, it was horrible. –Staff: Very friendly and helpful. –Table: The cook-top had about a 3 mm gap between it and the table with caked in goop galore. Disgusting! The table itself had grooves(why?!) which also collected bacteria. –Food: Fondue/chocolate great. Cooking my entrée in a pot of boiling vegetable broth made me feel like I was in a third world country. Here is a free piece of advice — stick to fondue and chocolate.

My boyfriend and I came here last night. Upon walking in it was nicely decorated and a cute place. Our server was Giselle. She was very nice and explained the menu to us being it was our first time there. We each ordered a cocktail which took about 10 to 15 minutes to finally get. I had read other reviews which said that you should plan on spending a good amount of time here(at least an hour). Keeping that in mind we planned on it being a long dinner. We each ordered a salad, Cesar and House. The House dressing was good, a little sweet but the menu states that. The salads are about $ 5 each and are very small. But we ordered them knowing it would be quite some time before we ate our entrees. The cooking style we chose(there’s only one pot per table so you have to agree on many things) was the Coq Au Vin. When they first brought this out it looked like broth and smelled like Ramen noodle soup. Once they brought out our meats and veggies they added the red wine and mushroom/scallop mix to it. I had chicken, teriyaki marninated sirloin and filet minon. My boyfriend had tuna, duck and steak. There were about 4 – 5 pieces of meat per selection which ended up being just enough food. The reason behind the 2 stars is that really this place is only nice for the different dining experience. Other than that, there’s no salt on the table and the food is quite bland.(Remember, you’re cooking it in broth, it’s basically boiled meat) Even cooking it in different flavored broth does nothing to the food. The only reason we got our 2nd round of drinks quickly is because the manager came by to check on us and asked if we needed refills. She was quick with the drinks. But other than that service is sloooowwwww, even though you cook your own food and there shouldn’t be much to wait for. After our meal we decided we needed to try the desert. We asked our server if it were necessary or if it made any difference ordering one or two portions of chocolate. We went with two and good thing we did. There’s not much to the portions at all. After all was done we spent 2 ½ HOURS and $ 118BEFORE tip! –Keep in mind the parking lot is METERED. So bring coins! –Also, if you sign up for the free fondue club you get a voucher for 6 chocolate covered strawberries free when you spend at least $ 60 at the restaurant.

I brought the boyfriend here for a surprise lunch last weekend. Kevin was our server and he was great. Very pleasant and friendly. This wasn’t our first time at The Melting Pot, but it was at this location. We used to go to Hoboken but they recently closed. At the suggestion of a $ 20 off e-mail, this became out new spot. We went with the 4-course menu and thanks to my Unilocal check-in, scored a free bottle of wine! So awesome. We had the buffalo cheese dip which was good but I prefer the fiesta. He had the house salad and I had the Mandarin & Almond which was to die for. Seriously, the flavor explosion that was going on was insane. I absolutely inhaled it. We each had our own entrée of the land and sea option(chicken, shrimp, filet mignon) and went with the coq au vin cooking style. We chose the flaming turtle for dessert. Overall, I have yet to be disappointed with The Melting Pot. I enjoy the fun of dipping and cooking my own food. I think the portions are just right. I’m always full when I leave but never too full to the point of feeling sick. It definitely slows you down so you have more time for conversation and less face stuffing.
