This place is great for lunch! Love the Tuscan chicken sandwich. The tomato focaccia or the pretzel bread is fantastic. The service is excellent, friendly, attentive, and they always remember me, my order, and the things I’ve been up to, even though I’ve been there maybe three times in my life. It’s a great little spot in the building. Definitely recommend for lunch.

I definitely come here for the convenience since it’s the only restaurant/café in our work building. I’ve tried the Green Classic salad, beef chili, burger(only available during the summer on Wednesdays), taco special, lentil soup, chicken wrap. Most of their food is mediocre. The only item that was decent was their tacos, but that was available one time, and I never saw it again(please bring it back!). I occasionally get a bag of salt and vinegar chips as well. I was about to get their omelet once and asked how many eggs they use(mind you, I don’t want my cholesterol to skyrocket), and the employee said they use liquid eggs. Turned me off, so didn’t get that. When I ate the chicken wrap one time, it was okay until one of the bites had an off taste to it(like borderline spoiled chicken). Blehhhh, don’t expect quality ingredients here. The prices are reasonable, and the service is great. Once you go several times, the workers will recognize you and know that you work there. There are an abundance of chairs and tables, and they have indoor and outdoor seating available. If you don’t work in the building, I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to come here. If you do work in the building, maybe come here if you forgot your lunch and don’t want to venture outside the building.

Known as «the secret deli» to students at the nearby high school, Halsted Street Deli is located on the first floor of a big building in the back of an office park. One of the few bright spots of working at that school for a year was sneaking off to the deli, where I could get a great tuna sandwich(The Mermaid) and talk to Dave(the owner) and his wife. Dave would always call me «boss,» and I’m not sure why, but I loved it that he did. They have other sandwiches and I’ve heard good things about them, but I’m never able to get past the Mermaid, toasted, with mustard. Only the hard-to-find location keeps it from five stars.(You need to get there from Pasquinelli Drive, I think.) I won’t fault them for the shivers I get when I look at the high school through the windows and remember the horror.
