Well let’s start with the positive of this restaurant, the service was great… And that is about it for the good. Now to the other side, the sushi tasted horrible I have certainly had better quality aka freshness many times. Along with bad sushi came extra large bill. I expect to pay for sushi but this place certainly tips the price list. This is just like a one night stand it’s only going to happen once.

Went back last week since it was the only Sushi place open at 9pm. We were the only ones in there so the service was very good. Started with a seaweed salad that was fresh and vibrant. Also had draft special on Asahi, so had a bunch of those. Kept them flowing, which is always good on your birthday. We ordered a platter with 3 rolls and 3 sushi selections. All the fish tasted fresh and clean, no lingering fish odors. The Japon special roll was great. We had another roll with mango that was very refreshing. Only negative was the heat of the jalepenos that were used on the salmon and jalepeno roll. There were a few jalepeno slices that were all vein and very spicy. I didn’t mind the flavor or heat, but it destroyed my wifes ability to enjoy the rest of the meal. Definitely back on our north denver sushi trail list.

Japon is a great place I found on Unilocal,I probably never would have found it without. It sits within a strip mall tucked back off of the main street(120th) and is kind of hard to see unless you’re looking for it our cruising through the parking lot. The food and service here are great, pricing is reasonable and the atmosphere is perfect to bring the family. We often bring the kids as they love to watch sushi prepared and we can feed the entire family without taking a second mortgage. All of the standard sushi offerings are on point but the rare find here is their soup. Their spicy tofu soup is phenomenal. Honestly it’s worth stopping in just for that.

Went at noon on a Monday, it was empty but I mean you’d expect that for noon on a Monday. Hostess(who was also the waitress) greeted us and told us to sit where ever we liked. She was very nice. We ordered gyoza, the Avalanche Roll, the Bronco Roll, and the Osaka Roll. Gyoza was great, you only get 6 but that’s pretty standard anywhere. The rolls were great too, though I thought the Avalanche and Bronco roll were trying to pack too many flavors into one bite. Never the less everything was still great. Prices for sushi were about standard with what I’ve seen at other Sushi bar’s in the US. All and all I was pretty happy with my visit, had a LivingSocial deal of $ 24 for $ 12, probably the first LivingSocial/Groupon sushi place I’ve been happy with.

Haha good burn Japon. Literally you burnt my dates mouth with your raw jalapeño sushi. I’ve never sent sushi back but when your 2 most expensive rolls are 50% cream cheese ugh thought that was the rip off until you asked to view my voucher from groupon just to tell me you won’t except it(viewed vouchers can’t be returned) Double burn. This place taste like a Bums Nutt sack. I hate being a hater but getting taken for nasty food really grinds my gears.

What a wonderful sushi gem in Westminster! Service is always great, especially Mira!!! She is very friendly and kind towards our daughter. They are always happy to have you there. And of course, sushi there are very well prepared, delicious and fresh. Restaurant has a beautiful and not tacky décor with warm ambiance! Prices are competitive and affordable. I recommend all my friends to go there for any occasion.

It usually comes down to this place or Hana Matsuri when we are craving sushi. Not a lot to choose from all the way up here in Westminster, but Japon really delivers when it comes to fresh fish and great presentation. The staff is always enthused to see us and I really like the lunch specials. Their maki combo has a few rolls that you usually don’t see at lunch(las vegas, tempura pumpkin) and it’s a great deal on top of it all.

The food, service, and décor are all uniformly excellent. There also was no crowd. I can’t find anything at all to criticize; our meal was great. We will definitely be back. Do try the«super white tuna»(don’t know the Japanese name); I had some as sushi nigiri, and its delicate, creamy taste was just out of this world. My wife and I shared a sushi & sashimi plate plus a «Crazy Crab Roll.» The plate was not very expensive($ 23), high quality, and big: six sushi nigiri(including two white tuna), 6 – 8 generous sashimi, and a spicy tuna roll. The latter looked rather plain, but unlike most spicy tuna rolls really tasted nice; I was pleasantly surprised, since I usually find spicy(ground) tuna to be the lowest rung on the sushi ladder. It is not to be avoided at Japon — it’s quite good. The crab roll was a bit disappointing because it was supposed to be spicy, but we didn’t find it so. It was otherwise OK, but not outstanding. We’ll try another next time. I had avoided trying Japon because the prior occupant of this same location was also sushi, and I had to walk out shortly after being seated because it smelled like rotten fish. Yuck. Not Japon. It’s clean and fresh, matched with fresh and tasteful furnishings and decorations. We used to favor Hana Matsuri, roughly nearby. It’s very good, but has become rather crowded. Japon is going to replace it for us. We were seated at Japon immediately, at 6:30 on a Friday night, with no reservations. And Japon’s service was very friendly, attentive, very willing to explain /discuss the food, and super fast — a tad better than Hana Matsuri(which is also quite good, if you can get in).

3.66 stars! The food was good, presentation was beautiful! Atmosphere great, waiter was attentive and patient. Would definitely recommend. Oh and PS– the waiter apparently loves Justin Timberlake because it was on loop and does an awesome dance! :)) fun times.

Rolls were good, not rolled as tightly as some places so seemed to be falling apart. Staff was excellent, sushi was served fast and the server was very attentive. Complimentary miso soup was given to us which was very nice! Very huge pieces of sashimi as well.

They took my take out order 10 minutes before close. That’s a big plus. Spicy crab roll was really good. Spivey tuna was meh.

Japon Sushi is just the place for good sushi… Not boxed, frozen or shipped in fish, either — fresh fish under the command of a well run kitchen. The presentation was amazing… The pic shows this well. My date and I enjoyed our spot at the bar and chatted with the owner, the servers and the chef. We learned that Japon caters each week for the Broncos… Who knew? It doesn’t surprise me, though. Denver may boast lots of sushi spots, but I’ve not had better!

Great place! Very reasonable lunch prices for a ton of food. The rolls are large and delicious and the Bento boxes are enough to fill even a large appetite. Nice environment and does not smell like fish… big plus. Service was also great!

Went and had lunch by my lonesome today. The waitress was very nice and attentive. She brought me out some miso soup on the house. I always though miso soup was a fishy broth so I never tried it, but their miso soup is excellent and definitely not fishy. It had a woodsy taste that I don’t know how to describe, cubed tofu and some really good green veggies. Then came the sushi… I ordered their volcano roll. It’s kinda like a California roll with seafood dynamite on top. Spicy and flavorful. I also had the crazy crab roll. Very pleasant lunch. Made convo with the sweet little waitress and the whole staff was very friendly. Overall a good experience. They have a groupon for here but you can’t use it on specialty rolls.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised about Japon. It was in a strip mall near our home so we checked it out as it was convenient. The ambiance of the place was nice and certainly unexpected given the strip mall location. I had a sushi /sashimi plate consisting of tuna, yellow tail and salmon. It was very good and compares to some of the«best» spots I have been to in Boulder and Denver. They didnt carry fatty Tuna or uni during the week(my favorite) but they do on the weekends. I will checking out the place during the weekend :) The partner in crime that ate lunch with me had their cooked salmon(not a raw fish fan) and she really enjoyed the meal. The service was terrific and is probably what pushed me to 4 stars. She was very nice and her service timing was perfect. If you want solid quality Sushi and a nice experience for an excellent price that this is a place to check out.

I visited the restaurant when it was 15 mins to closing. Luckily, no dirty stares or angry looks. I was seated at the bar. The service was very quick. Drink, Apps, Sushi. bam bam bam. The sushi was so-so. I think they had their station ready to close and I put in the last order. So, perhaps the reason for less than perfect sushi. I had their tuna, yellowtail, eel and snapper. The fish was reasonably fresh, but lacked flavor. Too much rice and packed too hard. Overall, it was rather bland. I really miss good sushi rice. I think their strenght may be in the rolls. They seem to have a lot of variety and many pictures in the menu to help you decide.

Taru was a good little place for sushi… I was really kinda bummed when they closed… It had a mom and pop feel and a decent offering of nigiri, hand rolls and creative rolls. Upon my most recent return, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the new proprietors have really taken this sushi restaurant to the next level of awesomeness! I came in for lunch over the weekend and had an awesome experience. Service was impeccable, value for the quality was unmatched, sushi was fantastic, and most importantly– fresh! Really love the new décor, it’s clean and tasteful. I also loved the lunch menu! It had a lot of reasonable offerings, cheaper than most local sushi restaurants, decent bento options and lots of creative roll offerings. Wide range of sake is also available. Definitely coming back!

Awesome sushi place, Korean owned — hence the bulgogi and various other Korean dishes. Great big slices of sashimi and really love the food here. Brighter décor compared to the old Taru Sushi. Got a side of rice with the sashimi but it was on the tougher side… maybe they are still figuring things out. Miso soup was great and also great prices for 40 oz Japanese beers. Food was prepared fast and the location is super clean. Definitely will be back. The waitress was great with customer service and recommended to check on groupon for future deals.

Japon has definitely made this place look nicer since it was Taru. It’s been redecorated and looks friendly and welcoming. Japon opened recently, and it seems like they’re still getting their system in order. I came on a Saturday night. It took about 10 minutes for us to be seated even though there were open tables. Once seated, it took another 10 minutes for staff to talk to us and get us water and the menu. After I ordered, it took about an hour for my food to come out. The place wasn’t too busy, but it’s clear that they are short staffed with their chefs. I ordered the chirashi. It was pretty good and offered a variety of fish. The rice is mediocre though.
