I was in the area looking for a place to eat when I saw this place pop up on Unilocal.I’m all for supporting small businesses so I decided to give it a try. I can honestly say that this is the worst restaurant I have ever stepped foot in! I went to House of Hoang expecting food that resembled my parents homecooked meals but god, I don’t even know what the fuck I ate?! This restaurant claims to have«authentic Vietnamese food» but let me tell you, adding an excessive amount of fish sauce to a random dish does NOT make it authentic! I mean, seriously?! And don’t even get me started on the busboy. He is the rudest, most condescending buff Asian I have ever met(he’s bald, so don’t mistaken buff for cute). I asked if I could possibly switch tables because the table I sat at smelled like animal feces, and he DENIEDME even though there was an open table on the other side of the room! He claimed he needed it to study because he’s in law school. WHATTHE… WHATLAWSTUDENTWORKSAT A PLACELIKETHIS! As for the ambiance, I do admit that House of Hoang has nice cozy and homey feel to it but can somebody please tell me why there are framed baby pictures of the same busboy hung ALL over the walls of the establishment?! Seriously. Never, EVER coming here again.

Don’t usually come to Westminster for anything except phở, but my buddy told me about this place with chicken skewers so I thought, hey why not, i love chicken skewers. Skew me up. Parking was pretty hard to find. The valet service was slow and I honestly thought at one point they might be trying to steal my car rather than park it… so naturally I didn’t tip. Looking back I probably should have parked at a nearby grocery store and Über’d over. Lesson learned. I walked into the House of Hoang and and. Good first sign, beer everywhere! The open kitchen ambiance was great, I could grab a brew right out of the fridge and it was almost like it was my own home. A+ for the homey feel. But onto the food… came here for the chicken skewers, not sure why my friend recommended them. The chicken was definitely under cooked and I felt like throwing up after. The open kitchen environment kind of shot them in the foot, I saw them RE-USING skewers!!! I wanted to puke. Actually I did. The buff busboy definitely had his hands full. Although he was quick, he definitely could have been nicer. I think his name was Z. or B. Or some letter of the alphabet. I’m giving this place two stars instead of one because of the beers in the fridge. Otherwise I would give it zero.

I got the chicken Skewers; it was good. The ambiance feels… homely…not like a hole a wall. We can see their kitchen and we watched them cooked as we drank some CHEAPCHEAPCHEAP beers. It’s super authentic. Getto, tasty, cheap, fast, and legit. their Koi pond had some colorful fish too… def gave them good luck! Don’t be cheap on tipping these people… their busboy is ripped!
