Cafe De Thuong

What started off as a «hey let’s just go see what a viet coffee shop looks like» has turned into a weekly tradition hangout spot with my group of close guy friends. I’m usually always the only girl in here.
The girls here are sweet and not as scantily dressed as other coffee shops. TVs all around play sports so that’s a bonus, too. Cards, good strong coffee and time with my friends is always good.
Smoke stench is overpowering and always seemed to be inhabited by creepy old men who smoke too much.
And once in while, they play good music.

Ridiculously strong coffee however it doesn’t taste very good. Give and take

Jessica from Lu is working here now. Girls were all freezing their asses off. I don’t really like the set up as there are two open doors and everyone was freezing their butts off.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon, April 3, 2011.
Stop #3 of 6 (Coffee Shop Tour II)
This place is in one of the many Viet plazas in the 714, located right under USA Travel in the center. Parking was a snap, and we walked into a very small joint.
Sight: About 60% full, half older (40s) and half card-​playing youngsters (20). Three older girls serving in regular clothes… It’s a very tight space, and the door was open to let in a nice breeze. This is a contrast to most of the Viet cafes that are dark and seedy-​looking.
Hear: Straight viet music played the whole 20 minutes we were there.
Taste: Iced coffee with condensed milk was «dirty» — bit gritty and bitter.
On my notepad, I had jotted down «flies swirling around.» It was a little distracting, but I’ll admit Peter P may be onto something with his description «straight out of Saigon street culture.» Just need the sound of hundreds of motorbikes honking by and the sweet smell of pollution. And the 8-​year old beggar girl who’s actually 14.
One of the servers was pretty hot, but this place only nets 2 stars by me =(

It’s so dirty there. The waitresses are okay there. I’ve seen better at other coffee shops.
I just go here time to time if i’m in the area and need my strawberry smoothie fix. They are understaffed here. They usually have 2 coffee shop girls catering to 40 men in that place.

After goin to Café Vi Dang 3 and 2, we came here! Crazy, I know. Didn’t stay though, it was a dude ranch, and it looked like there was only one gal serving.

all they serve here are very strong coffee drinks… people play cards and even gamble while about ten TV sets play ten different TV programs… to top it off, the music was drowning out all of the noise anyways!!! if that isn’t enough of a distraction, the waitresses are very good looking and wear very little. despite all the craziness, everybody is relaxed there… this place is unreal! I have never been to a place like this before… this must be something straight out of Saigon street culture…
Apparently, at night this place turns into a nightclub… I would have to see that… hahaha
