I tried this place for the first time today because it had good reviews-big mistake. I got the Reuben, it was actually a sauerkraut sandwich sprinkled with corned beef. The bread had the consistency of play-doh. I couldn’t get past 3 bites. Waste of money.

Love the chicken teriyaki sub and fries! Friendly staff and a convenient location. It could be a little cleaner.

My first visit here with a couple of work buds. There are subs you try to compare to other places and my first choice was the Italian. Every sandwich goes through a grill to toast it lightly. Combo it was for me because of those french fries. I really like this sub. I don’t usually get my Italian subs warmed up but this one was really good. The roll was fresh and not overly toasted. I now like this better than J.J. Others have written how good the steak and cheese is so I’ll have to try that one next time.

The food is great. I favor the artichoke or veggie subs. Get em east coast style-so delicious! Been coming here a long time & I’ve got to say the suctioned service is always great, the tables and floors are always clean, and the food is always fresh! Highly recommend!

Always a good sub. Love the fries– cooked fresh to order and are smokin’ hot. My favorite sub is the grilled artichoke w/mushrooms & onions. Love the bun– I don’t know how they make it, but soft & fresh. Restaurant is very clean and the workers are pleasant & super nice.

The food ia good but the attitude of the employees and the lack of proper hand cleaning after handling money is very crude. How about making the employees wear a clean uniform or cleaning the cooking area once in a while. I would not recommend it here, three of our group got sick after eating there. Maybe its unsanitary conditions to blame???

Philadelphia Cheesesteaks are our sandwich of choice here. It starts with a fresh baked sub bun. Add some Philly Steak, some mushrooms and some cheese and you’ve got a pretty good sandwich. The fresh cut fries are a real standout. It’s not our favorite sub, but it’s a really good one. The strip mall it sits in could be better, but it is what it is. 3 stars and I’ll be back…

I first had Penn Station when I went to school in Indiana, it was good then and it’s still good now. Penn Station is a great way to switch up the rotation between Jimmy Johns and Potbelly– don’t even bother with Subway or Quiznos. I like the fact that all of the meats are fresh cooked, and fresh sliced. All of their fries are fresh cut as well. Solid option for a quick, fresh bite– a fresh cooked sandwich and fries.

Thirty percent pricier than Subway. Three hundred percent tastier! The Philly Steak and Italian were excellent. The Chicken Teryaki was mediocre. The large fries does indeed feed a family of four.

Another Unilocal recommendation. Decided to come here while on my way to Detroit, what happened afterwards is that i found another sandwich place. Had the hand cut fries, which were excellent(however if its just you eating them, i would recommend either a small or medium because a large is big enough for a family of 4 – 6). For my sandwich i tried two six inches, Philly cheesesteak(it was good, but nothing special in the grand scheme of hoagies) and the Italian sub(had it cold, which turned out to be a great decision and this was probably the second best Italian sub i done ever had, behind jersey mike’s). Also had the fresh squeeze lemonade, which was good and the number one thing here in my opinion is the bread they use for the subs(it is legit and great). Overall, great time, great food(and selections)= me coming back for more.

Delicious sub shop. Some people have said they’re pricey and, when compared to Subway’s five dollar ten inch foot longs, they’re right. It’s definitely worth it though. PS they’re very filling. A small is fine for most people, medium will stuff the average person, and a large should only be ordered if you’re sharing(or purposefully adding to our nations obesity epidemic).

I’m from NJ and know a good sub. Being a franchise, didn’t expect much. Like the fact that they offer fresh cut fries and fresh squeezed lemonade. Sets them apart from the competition. I think it holds its own against Jimmy John’s, Potbelly, and Jersey Mike’s(won’t even include Subway). The fries with your sub is the draw, and the sub is pretty respectable too.

As other Unilocalers have noted, I too have been patronizing the Penn Station for many years. My sandwich of choice is the Cheese Steak. I have yet to find a place that can out-do Penn’s Cheese Steak. Always do extra meat and extra cheese because I don’t think that the portion is enough for the price. For an extra buck you can get extra meat and cheese, making the sandwich look like its worth the $ 10 price tag. My only complaint is that the kid workers that seem to come and go, do not follow protocol. Seems like they follow different rules every time I go in. Last time I was there, I ordered my usual Steak sub. Mind you, I NEVER had to mention that I wanted onions and mushrooms on it, it was always part of the sandwich. This time, I did not get any. I go back and the kid working the counter said I had to specify that I wanted them. Well I guess I have been ordering it wrong for the last 8 years.

LOVE Penn Station! The subs are amazing and the fresh-cut fries don’t get any better! I also get the club with banana peppers added on it and it never disappoints. It is a good alternative to Subway/Jimmy Johns. The subs a pricier than the other chains but it is worth it!

Being a Cincinnati native(which is where the Penn Station franchise originated) I’ve been eating at their shops for years and having moved to Wayne about 10 years ago, I was thrilled to find one here. Let me explain, even though the name has«Penn»(as in Pennsylvania… as in Philadelphia where this sandwich comes from)…the sandwiches here aren’t ANYTHING like a «Philly Sub»…they’re ten-fold better! Better beef… real cheese… no «cheese-whiz» cheese sauce… and FRESH bread baked on-site! I love their sandwiches and as a matter of fact, I’ve talked myself into going there for one tonight! Recommendation: Get the full cheesesteak with extra meat & cheese, onions, mushrooms and hot peppers with very light mayo and their spicy mustard. There ain’t nuthin’ better! Oh yeah…“Go Blue!”(Yeah…I’m a Buckeye… and I said it!)

I have eaten at this location as well as some others around metro Detroit. I like when my sub contents is actually cooked on a grill(and since I am from the East Coast these toaster grills don’t cut it in my book). The subs here are good but pricey. No deals that is for sure but they are a tasty treat(since they are so greasy and heavy I only come here from time to time). Ordering is a little weird so just be prepared for that. The fries are good and you can have vinegar on them which is another favorite of mine from eating fair fries back home. If they are busy it can take a while for your food so if you are in a rush you may want to call ahead or go someplace else. If not it is worth the wait!

I’ve been going to this place for several years. They have a very good cheesesteak sub, which is the only thing I ever tried. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always taste the same when I get it. I order it regular style with mayo and lite banana peppers. Everytime I get it, its either smothered in peppers or only a couple. Either way, I adapt to it and just take some off if there is too much. Anyway, over the years I notice that the«filling» and by «filling» I mean the meat, onions and mushrooms are getting smaller. The bread is also getting thinner and longer to give you the illusion that you are getting a bigger sub. For a long time, the prices were a bit high which is why I never went without a coupon of some sort. Roughly $ 10 for a large sub with 6 ounces of meat. I would say that if you want to get a fix on a decent Philly Cheese Steak, this is the place to go, but don’t expect an enormous helping. This place is quickly turning into another Subway only more expensive. Not a big fan of «skin on» fries, which is what they serve as well. Go for a side of cheese bread if you need another side dish.

Nice place, I especially liked the fresh hand cut fries. Yummy! The fresh baked bread on the subs is really good, the meats seemed decent. Good variety of items. Staff is friendly and eager to help. We got it to go ourselves. I had a grilled artichoke(yay I cannot resist an artichoke) and mushroom with provolone, parmesan oregano and mayo. I added tomatoes, onions, peppers and lettuce. A little greasy but not in an unpleasant way at all. My dad had a special of the month pizza sub with added everything including sweet Italian sausage and was quite pleased. My mom was meh about her Italian salad, I think subs are really the best way to go here as the bread is what makes it because my husband liked the Italian sub I got him a lot. I was impressed they had good iced tea, usually places like this do not. They also have fresh squeezed lemonade. A little heavy so not for eating light, not cheap compared to say the ugh Subway, but overall a good place. I’ll be back.
