Culvers Butterburgers & Frozen Custard

Went to celebrate a friend’s daughters 16^th birthday, decent burgers/​fries and shakes…

They have some of the juiciest burgers around. The fries are nice and crispy. And what can I say about their concrete mixers.

I’ve heard about this place for forever and have driven by this place at least a hundred times. Never stopped. Figured it was another fast food grease burger place. I’m all about a regular good old fashioned cheeseburger without a million toppings and doesn’t cost more than $ 5. This place delivered. The burger was yuuuuummy! It wasn’t greasy. Cooked perfectly. The lettuce was shredded yay! Perfect bun… Aaaaand they have crinkle fries!!! Crispy yummy crinkle fries… nirvana. Couldn’t eat the curds. They were gross. If you’ve had real curds, you can’t eat these.

It’s rare that a drive-​through gets it as wrong as Culvers, and then the phone number listed on the web is hooked up to a fax machine so you can’t even call to give them the chance to make it right. Nobody in line, not busy or crowded, and the fax, well, who uses a fax anymore unless it’s a way to avoid customers?

Never disappointed when coming here. We normally come for the frozen custard. It’s is better than other ice cream shoppes in the area. They also have burgers, salads, fries and they are also famous for the cheese curds.
They always have a flavor of the day. Today was strawberry cheesecake. The place was clean & people were friendly. This is the spot for a sweet craving.
I got the flavor of the day in a concrete mixer-​which is basically a thick milk shake-​with whip cream on top. It was good with small pieces of strawberry and cheesecake. Yuummmmmmmyyyyyyyy!

I don’t know what I can say about Culvers that hasn’t already been said. They have a wide variety of options. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups, fries, onion rings (amazing), cheese curds, pot roast, etc. THEN THERE IS THE CUSTARD! It’s so rich, creamy and magnificant. They have a lot of options for shakes, floats, sundaes, cones, etc. In the summer, the lemon ice with fruit is outstanding!
The layout is nice, you order your food and then they bring it to you at a table. They also have a drive thru.

I have Never been disappointed when it comes to my food from culvers. It is a tad expensive for a fast food chain, but none the less it is good! Also, you get an ice cream WITH the kids meal, I mean that is unherd of most places! So it is also a hit with my daughter!

The Culver’s at Westland, Michigan stay away from because they are rude to the customer, especially the manager is a real a-​hole towards the customer, I know from first hand experience. I have visited a lot of Culver’s since I feel their food is better than Mickey’s and I receive good treatment from other Culver’s, but the one in Westland, Michigan, he needs to go, I won’t be going back there.

Went in on Friday night for dinner. Both my husband and I got the walleye dinner, he the three piece with fries and cole slaw, and me the two piece with mashed potatoes and green beans. Sadly, the side dishes were better than the fish. The fish was greasy and not cooked properly — my husband actually had to send his back. I doubt we’ll be going there anytime soon, at least not for dinner.

Would have given 5 stars, but, the service was terrible. Food was great. I’ll just drive over to Belleville from now on.

I was looking forward to trying Culvers for a long time. When I went up-​north in Michigan, the stop that I usually fueled-​up at had a Culvers and I always wondered about this restaurant.
When I learned of one only a few miles from me, I took my kids with me for a late dinner.
Verdict: Hamburgers were just average — Nothing special. The fries just o.k.
The shakes were good with many toppings that you could choose from. The kids loved them.
Will I go back? No.

The Best Burgers my husband and I have EVER had! I don’t know what they do to them but they are Heaven! The restaurant in Westland is clean and the servers are fast and efficient. The frozen custard is awesome too.

Nasty. Dried out, overcooked to xxx well done. All the butter was slopped on the bun. Had a mushroom n swiss and classic with mustard, ketchup tomato and pickle.
I drove about 8 miles to get there. Went past Bates, hell I passed a McDogfoods to get there. Big Macs outshine this barfatorium.

We went though the drive in window and got a Single, a Double and a Triple with a large order of Fries and it was quite a tasty and filling treat. Good quality, Friendly service and hot crispy Fries. You can’t go wrong. My only critical comment would be the amount of different sandwich selections and the details are a little hard to take in, not to mention a tad confusing, at the drive up speaker area. Other than that 4 stars once again on a job well done and an update review.

Not sure what’s so appealing about this place. In all honesty it was like eating at a fast food place but instead of walking to your table with a tray. Someone comes by and drops it off for you. From looking at the website I was for sure this place was like a Fuddruckers knockoff. So I was interested in trying it out. Nope. It’s more like a knockoff of Checkers or Rally’s. Except there the burgers are actually decent and my order would have been $ 12 and not $ 20. Dining area didn’t look dirty but more like it was lightly doused with food crumbs.
Burgers were bland. Fries had an extra layer of crust on the outside, almost like they were doubled dipped in batter. No thanks. Cheese turds were ok but not hot like they were just made. More like warm from a heating lamp. Onion Rings were decent. Sweet tea should not be called ‘Sweet’. It was also heavily diluted with water. Weak shit.
I hadn’t eaten all day, literally. So one would think a starving grown man eating a double burger with bacon would be very happy. Complete opposite. Ruined my night until I went to Gurnseys to get the taste out of my mouth.
Fuck you Culvers. Fucking bitch.

I am devastated to report that my first experience with Culvers occurred last November as I drove up north for a few days. I was hungry. More than hungry. I was dizzy. I hopped off the e-​way and headed for a Sonic… dreaming of greasy horribleness… only to find that Sonic was shuttered.
After weeping into my steering wheel for what seemed like hours, I wiped away my tears to see a Culvers across the street, a shimmering mirage that offered me… maybe nothing. I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t really give a damn. Sonic was what I wanted, and now I had to settle.
I ordered a butter burger, thinking it might be ok. The reality is, it changed my life forever. FOREVER! The meat is so juicy, and the cooking method forms this beautiful, tasty crust on the burger. Everything I have ever tried here is a winner, and the people are nice.
Is Culvers really five stars? For a quick meal, it easily earns that. By far, it is the best fast food joint in the area, if not Michigan.

How refreshing it if to go to a fast food place that serves hot, fresh food thst actually tastes good. I’ve never had bad food st Culver’s and I’ve been to several around michigan. The burgers are hot and juicy and the onion rings are tasty and crispy. Don’t leave without a concrete mixer! This is once of the only fast good places that doesn’t make my belly angry later. Plus, the place is always clean and the people are friendly.

Mmmmm… today’s flavor was coconut crème pie! Coconut custard with little pieces of pie crust. I made it into a concrete mixer with marshmallow crème!

In general I am a fan of the Culver’s chain. I think their fast food is better than most. I’m giving them lower stars however because they like to take one of my favorite items off the menu all the time, the tuna melt. Apparently it is a «seasonal» item. If anyone from Culvers reads this please keep it on year round (and add a veggie burger while you are at it!)
I love their fries and the frozen custard. We have even had their custard cake and that was good too. Drive-​thru takes a few minutes longer than a normal one because they are making your food. If you eat inside they will give you a number and bring your food out to you. It is always clean and the staff is very nice when I have eaten here.

One of my fave burger stops. This location is far superior to my local Belleville one so we always make the trek for our burgers.
The double butter burger basket with fries is my standard order here. The burger is always juicy and cheesy perfection, fries are hot and crisp. My husband upgrades his side for a dollar to cheese curds, he loves these fried bits of cheese dipped in optional ranch sauce (they also offer marinara).
Shockingly the soups here are really good, you can upgrade a basket with a side of soup for a dollar too. The split pea, chicken gumbo, chicken tortilla and cabbage all are tasty.
The dinners have been good. I tried both the fried walleye and fish and chips and found them satisfying. The fried chicken is really nice too.
Perfect for kids, the kids meals come with a coupon you redeem for a one scoop sundae at the end of their meal. My nieces and nephew beg to come here. On the flip side my retired parents really like it too.
The custard is yummy, I usually don’t have room for it after my burger basket but have come on seperate trips to just eat custard. I love their rotating flavors of the day in a waffle cone. My husband likes their banana splits a lot.
If you are looking for a bit of a step up from basic fast food give Culver’s a shot. I am hooked personally.
**Update** After two less than stellar burger experiences in a row I am dropping a star. The only thing that made this a five star was true consistency. It’s still great for fast food but I cannot vouch for the consistency…
