Looking for a low key neighborhood place to get some great sushi. Place was very very low key and unprofessional. I had been months ago and there was a small child running around in diapers. I get it, maybe once as a last minute thing. Just came back months later and still child running around like a Banche through the place in diapers all throughout dinner. Very distracting. I will not be back even though sushi is OK. Too many options with much better atmosphere and better sushi in the area. Wish them luck but they need more than that. Like childcare… Sorry

Just moved to the area and found our new go to sushi bar! The freshest and best menu anywhere in the area and as fresh as the stands outside the Tokyo Fish Market! Highly recommend the honey roll, sticky rice spicy tuna appetizer and freshest hamachi belly you can find! All of the rolls we had are fantastic as is the mochi.

Positively impressed by Sayka Sushi! Had 10 pieces of sushi; salmon, yellowtail, tuna, Spanish mackerel and ikura udzura. All very good. High quality of the fish. Sushi pieces on the large size, maybe not my favorite size, but perfectly ok. Very good service! Having tried most Japanese restaurants in the Westlake & Thousand Oaks area, Sayka Sushi comes second to Kanda Sushi, which is more authentic and also more expensive. In all, kudos to Sayka Sushi, I will certainly return! Recommended!

I was skeptical when I entered this place because it had jus 3.5 reviews. However not only did the dishes blow me away but all my orders were equally delicious. I would recommend the garlic albacore with jalapeño and st st

The Sushi(including freshness) is top of the line here and I’ve enjoyed many sushi places over the years. But not for the fantastic high quality freshly prepared sushi, this would be one star — why? The service is just really poor — slow and sporadic. So /if you don’t mind slow and poor service you will love the sushi.

Much improved since baby Tyler was born. Hirosuke and Kenji are a dynamic duo!!! Variety could give it another star but that’s the only thing missing. I love having Sayka so close to home and try to eat there at least once a month.

Best sushi in the area, always delicious! Owned by a wonderful family, the nicest people and great service! We go here nearly every weekend, always finding a new favorite on the menu. Try the honey roll!

The ONLY thing that is saving this restaurant is their server Charli and the quality of their food. She is beyond amazing and is highly educated on the menu. Other than that it is an overpriced and unsafe environment for the owners child Tyler. Everything served there is beyond overly marked up and the owners child is always in an unsafe environment. Not only is he approaching 2 years old and is learning to climb on top of the sushi bar and cause mayhem, he is also opening the front door, giving long time customers a heart attack as he runs in the middle of the street. Not only have previous servers quit due to the owner’s 50% cut in tips(her and her husband Kenji each having a 25% cut Totaling an automating 50% cut in tips) they are overall unfair as to paying their employees. I disagree with their morals, however their food is tasty, their kitchen is dirty and unsafe for their own child as well as customers. They are unsafe for health as they change their child own child’s diaper on their own freezer. If a dirty diaper on top of your already frozen food doesn’t gross you out, I really don’t know what else will. This review is realistic and nothing but legit. PLEASESTAYAWAY!

Absolutely five stars. There is no place like it. Unbelievable Ono(white tuna) and such a fantastic assortment. I am always surprised and fulfilled everytime I go. Definitely a must try if in the area and in need of some super dank sushi. Service is five star and the sushi chef kenji knows all the fine arts of his craft.

The sushi is the best I’ve had. My reason for the 3 stars is because I think the toddler running around with black feet is inappropriate. Also some of the hired help need more training in food serving, and should look good when on the floor. The restaurant is usually not crowded but I think if the owner could concentrate on her patrons and the kitchen and get child care for their toddler they have great potential to be a success! I will go back but again, hopefully they will read this feedback and improve their service because like I said the food is fabulous !!!

The sushi here was pretty good, but we were the ONLY people here on a Saturday night– a little alarming. There was a small child running around behind the kitchen and digging into the garbage. Also, this place ALWAYS seems to be closed– what’s up with that??? I’ll be ordering take-out from here, but will not be dining in anytime soon.

I have been to many a sushi restaurant, and this place is at the bottom of my list. I went here with my family to check it out, as my grandmother had just moved to the area and likes sushi. The green tea they served was the powdered one and looked terrible, so that was a bad start. Edamame is impossible to mess up, so that was fine. The issue came when the main course did. My mother ordered chicken teriyaki, and for $ 8 it came with 8 very small sushi-like pieces that were bereft of flavor. How hard is it to mess up chicken teriyaki? My crunch roll was OK, but when my father reviewed his sushi combination plate($ 20+ dollars), it came without the octopus it promised on the menu, and one of his fish pieces tasted like it had been frozen. That’s a HUGE no-no. Also, they didn’t even bring him the cheap soup starter that came with it. The California rolls we had were small and looked under-stuffed with wilted seaweed. The waitress was nice enough, but if you can read this review and see past the clearly suspect 5 star reviews below, you need to avoid this place.

Best sushi in the area, not joking. If you like Katsuya, then you will love it here. It’s the bomb.

Others are greater connoisseurs perhaps but I’ve been to many different Sushi places on the Westside, Valley, and Thousand Oaks but this little gem is the best in my book. Not Nobu but not necessarily a bad thing. The chef was formerly at Katsuya and this place follows a similar style. Not fancy but nicer than a hole-in-the-wall it is the chef, his wife and a server for the 8 – 10 tables. I’ve been here a dozen times now and the service is friendly and good(though the chef has limited English fluency). The food is fresh and tasty! Favorites: Ceviche Spicy Albacore w Crispy Onions Crab Roll w extra meat Crispy Rice w Spicy Tuna Yellowtail Belly

I have been fortunate to enjoy sushi in many restaurants/bars around the world. Sayka is among the best. For those that have complained about the service… Chill and enjoy the great food. This place puts its heart and soul into every dish!!!
