Cozy like an old fashioned bookstore. There are quality books that may not be available in a chain store. There are unique local books, too. It has nice wood floors and book shelves

This store is horrific! I have never met such rude women in my life. One woman creeps around your children, grabs books out of their hands and follows them around yelling at them. They have no clue about the actual books they sell and freely admit it because they said they work hard to keep the books looking neat on their shelves. My two year old had two books in her hand that we were purchasing and in front of my husband ripped them out of her hands and put them back on a shelf even after my husband told her we were buying them.
They are even worse to any parent who walks in and attempts to enter their children’s section. I have never had a worse customer service experience in my life and I can see by the other reviews, we are not the customers who felt this way.

I literally walked into this store and walked out. Two employees were at the front desk unoccupied and neither of them greeted me when I walked in nor acknowledged me when I left. Everyone other business in this town had friendly merchants so I’m unsure why the employees here were different. My wife and I were just looking to buy some books for our infant daughter but didn’t feel comfortable patronizing this establishment after apparently being invisible to the people who work there.

The staff was awesome and the store is really pretty! Super friendly workers. Nice and clean and organized.

Books & Books WHB is a beautiful bookstore with a thoughtful, intelligent selection of titles and a knowledgeable, dedicated staff. I’ve shopped there numerous times and always had a great experience. They sponsor many events in the community, both in their store and at the library and performing art center, and are a great asset to the retail and cultural life of WHB, in the summer and throughout the year.

Amazing Staff! Extremely knowledgeable about upcoming author events and book releases. Small store-​but with the space they made it feel like home. Hand written summaries of favorite books (staff picks) are under book titles for suggestions. These people love both their business and literature.

Great selection of books, but the owner is a total maniac, control freak, who monitors his store and customers like some sort of crazed prison warden.
Shouldn’t have a kids section because kids are not at all welcome — they’re watched and chastised. I’ve never had a pleasant experience in this place. It’s too bad.

this is a top notch book store… the have all the right goods and are always willing to steer you in the right direction. well informed hand written cards describing the books have helped me pick out a ton of great books. in a time when everything is online this is a real experience thats should be cherished. better quality books than any barnes and noble i have ever been in.

I first visited Books & Books last summer while visiting the area – what a stunningly beautiful store with an extremely well-​curated collection. There is a wide variety of books in every section. It has an adorable, full children’s section with great books and toys. All the expected bestsellers were there also – I was able to find a great selection of both fiction and non-​fiction. I staff was friendly and helpful and I will go back the next time I’m in town! (I find it sad that people are rating the store with one star over a store policy. Lots and lots and lots of stores do not feature public bathrooms! I appreciate that they devoted the space in their store to BOOKS rather than restroom space!!)

I absolutely love this store. The staff picks are a favorite of mine. Everyone is so knowledgeable and helpful, so refreshing! If they don’t have what you want, it usually can be in by the next day.
It is great to see a bookstore where they actually like selling books!

What a shame. From the outside this is a beautiful store. From the inside this is a different picture. My cousin had just purchased 2 hard cover books from the store and we were pleased with the selection. About 5 minutes later my 4 year old daughter needed to use the bathroom and was told that we need to walk to the public restroom in town.
I am always amazed by the bathroom rule. Why do you have a facility if a paying customer cannot use it, oh I am wrong, there was a women who they let use the bathroom just before we asked. I guess our purchase wasn’t big enough for that type of access. I guess we will not revisit this store over the long summer months in the Hamptons.
This may be one of the reasons small stores cannot compete in this day and age.

Very unfortunate. My wife went into Books & Books today and purchased two books. While in the store, a woman asked for and was allowed to use the restroom. A few minutes later, after our transaction was completed, our niece needed to use the bathroom as well and we were directed toward the public bathrooms down the street. After referring to the woman who was given permission previously as well as the fact that we had just bought two books, we were told «the owner would be upset.» It’s March. 8 stores in town were open and about 30 people were walking around. What’s the trouble? With our Amazon prime membership, perhaps we won’t be back. It’s a shame because we like to shop in small stores and support small business. But, with that kind of service, who needs the aggravation?
