Meh. Average. Very underwhelmed. Service lacking, food not great. Shrimp entrée over cooked, salad fresh, smallish portions.

It was THEWORSTEXPERIENCE I have ever had… Before explain story, first I will introduce myself. I am a former wines & liquors brand manager who has more than 5 years of on premise(restaurant) experience. I also worked in many fine dining restaurants tri-state of NY, NJ and PA. So I have a voluminous experience of how to identify the overall quality of restaurants. A few hours ago, I and my wife went to this«Limani» restaurant. We were greeted by the lady at the front desk(I believe she was the manager). Immediate after we sat down, the waiter came and start serving us. He was a young nice man who looks like he does not much of server experience. I ordered Shrimp Parmigiana pasta and my wife order scallops(some special way of cooking combined with figs and squash) Unfortunately, the server completely mess up my wife’s order(more than 2⁄3rd of the dish was not in her plate. I also thought that he mess up my order and gave me chicken instead of Shrimp, but it turned out to be it was a shrimp. I need to point out that, I am not complaining about the server. He made mistakes that everybody con make and i sure have a tolerance enough for these kind of mistakes. So please continue to read below about my real argument. First: our appetizer saganaki(a Greek appetizer of fried cheese) was extremely not fresh. Second: I ordered shrimp parmigiana. The shrimp was so not fresh and hard, it felt like I was chewing plastic. Both My wife and I tasted and thought that it was chicken but later I scratched the bread crumbs to see what actually is It turned out to be it was shrimp. Third: After I had to refuse to eat my food, I actually wanted my wife to enjoy her food after all. Server let us know that, they will adjust the price. So when we get the bill, they adjusted $ 6 out of her $ 42 dish. So here we are, ending up paying $ 50 a piece of unfresh fried cheese the size of your iPhone and 4 pieces of scallops(unfortunately she couldn’t also finish the other side dishes in her plate because of the taste) Forth: All the sudden, this lady(manager) suddenly disappeared and no one bring a decency to say«we are sorry» when we were walking out of this place. In summary: I currently work for a very well respected bank and we have a few branches within this restaurant’s neighborhood. I don’t know if this review will help you to make your selections very carefully when picking your restaurant in Westfield NJ but I will definitely help my co workers to make the right decision when it comes to seek fine place to eat. Finally unfortunately my rate is one out of five for this restaurant just because they have no option to pick zero.

Soooo expensive for what you get. Will not be back. I would definitely spend money for exceptional food but this place is so pricey for mediocre food. We have tried multiple times to like this place but I guess it’s not going to happen. I try to root for our town’s restaurants but I’m not going to lie if I am not a fan… sorry.

Located on a main drag of Westfield is what seems to be a small unadorned BYOB Greek seafood restaurant. Once you walk in you’ll be surprised how big the place actually is, the dinning area continues to go back with high ceilings, wood floors and contemporary décor. The wait service was very knowledgeable from entrée suggestions right through to dessert. Our waiter was attentive without over whelming us, he was spot on. The menu has a vast selection to choose from including red meat dishes for anyone who doesn’t eat fish. There were a nice variety of choices from the daily specials as well. The food was prepared to our liking. I had a tuna dish, cooked rare and cooked perfectly. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their orders as well. The prices are a bit high but the food is good and I can live with that. All in all… the place was packed, we drank a lot of wine and had a wonderful evening. In my opinion Limani’s is a very good restaurant all around, so we may go back… but…we may not. I just didn’t have the«I can’t wait to come back» kind of feeling. But I am glad we went.

One of my favorite restaurants. The oyster platter is incredible. I love the pasta. The place is very cozy and energetic. I need to remind myself to make reservations for this restaurant again soon!

Nothing to go crazy about, not great, not terrible. Service was friendly but slow. My sister ordered a ribeye that clearly was not a ribeye steak. My crab legs were delicious but and a large portion for king crab legs. I would return but steer clear of anything other than seafood on the menu.

Just got done with lunch at Limani. The oysters were incredibly fresh as was the crabmeat. I thought the price for the quality was well worth it. Can’t wait to come back.

I came to the money for a seafood dinner. They have a variety of fish to offer from flounder, bass, snapper, char, branzino and more. They also have shellfish and lobster on the menu. Overall the meal was ok, Not overtly impressed. The service was just ok. The waiter needed more education on the flavors of fish. The waiter couldn’t describe the fish well enough to help choose a meal so we just picked an exciting name. Since this is promoted as a fish centric restaurant I would expect the waiter to be very knowledgeable about the flavors of its fish menu. I also asked for a side of lemon twice and never received one. The calamari was very bland! It was as if they just breaded it without spices, salt nor seasoning. I’ve had much better elsewhere. The appetizer of lemon skate was delicious with capers sprinkled on top and butter dressing. I ordered the New England which was a mixture of lobster, scallops, crab and fish with mixed vegetables and potatoes and I scarfed it down. The black bass was tender but still had scales on random areas on the fish which had to be spit out. If it wasn’t for the Groupon that I used I probably would not come again.

As many people have indicated – this is a BYOB place, which is very much embraced by many of the attendees, so certainly embrace the policy if it suits you. I’m sure this adds to the very comfortable, warm, and enthusiastic atmosphere. The tables are fairly close together and there are lively surrounding conversations, but every table is intimate enough within itself. The waiters are all very helpful and work hard to make sure your questions and concerns are addressed. For newcomers, there is a very exciting selection of fish at this wonderful establishment including your basic salmon, sea bass, flounders. There are also a number of less commonly encountered fish such as sword fish, mahi mahi, tile fish, opah. Try to come for their dinner special entrees as it expands the available selection. –The Thalasomezes appetizer was very enjoyable. The calamari and octopus in this dish are notably, very soft, all which tastes wonderful under the lemon emulsion. There is a substantial amount provided, adequate for 3 – 4 to start with. –The Mahi Mahi filet on the dinner special menu seemed only partially marinated through, despite being presented in a delicious, mildly spicy sauce. –The Scallop dish on dinner special came with 6 large medallions with a sufficient amount of yukon and vegetables to fill any gaps in the appetite. My family excitedly will be back.

I have to say overall the food was okay! It definitely didn’t wow me! The pepper Tuna was lacking flavor but the little cucumber salad was good was missing some cherry tomatoes. The kids shrimp Parmesan was definitely lacking salt and sauce for pasta was a little bland. The kids fried calamari was good minus the cold marinara sauce they served with it. The Hawaiian Opah had a nice sauce on it but a little on the dry side. Waiter was very attentive at first but then took a while to come back after we go out food. The bus boys were more attentive.

I went here with my boyfriend 2 weeks ago and we loved this place! We had the fried calamari, stuffed flounder, and linguini with clams. Everything was so fresh and delicious that we brought my parents, my brother, and his girlfriend back one week later for my dad’s 60th birthday. This night was the real reason that inspired me to write this review. We had a 7:30 reservation and arrived about 10 minutes early. Our table wasn’t ready because the people before us were still sitting and taking their time not paying. We didn’t say anything to complain, but the owners(I assume that’s who they were. They were at the front door and going around and checking in on all of the tables.) noticed we were waiting a while and handed us a menu to pick out some appetizers(yes, plural!) on the house. A waiter also took our wine to chill it for us until our table was ready. About a half hour after our reservation, we sat to our appetizers and chilled wine. We were given a double sized order of some of them since there were 6 of us, and two crabcakes were also thrown in on the house. Everything was so perfectly cooked and delicious. The owners, after learning my mom’s name was Angela, came over multiple times to make sure we were enjoying our meal(4 seafood fra diablo, shrimp scampi, and stuffed shrimp– all delicious!!), and by the end of the night they knew all of our names and left us feeling like family. I’ve never known a restaurant to be so proactive to take care of its guests, and to go out of their way to right a situation we didn’t even have to speak up about. The food was INCREDIBLE both times I was there. All 6 of us left the table that night saying we will definitely be back again!

Had 8pm reservations on a Friday night and was seated promptly. The overall restaurant is very plain looking. Not any sort of romantic atmosphere. Ordered the Greek Salad, Spanakatopita, Red Snapper and Mussels over Linguini. The Greek Salad and the Spanakatopita were excellent. The Red Snapper was average — it had crab meat and andouillie sausage. It was served a bit luke warm and the crab meat didnt taste very fresh — but it was enjoyable. The mussels came out — but were not mussels — they served us clams over linguine. The server apologized and fairly quickly brought us a plate of mussels. The prices here are a bit on the high side — but the BYO brings down the price and you can sometimes find a groupon for the place. It by no means blew me out of the water — but I enjoy the greek aspect of the food and the fish was decent. I will return.

The Arctic char was out of this world! The lemon based sauce was perfectly prepared. Service was excellent and the owner made sure we were taken care off. A must visit for anyone that is looking for good quality seafood The rosemary olive oil was a nice addition as well.

Primarily seafood with Greek touches(olives; feta, etc), Limani has a loyal clientele and some major strengths: Lots of choices Delicious swordfish($ 32) Cheerfully allowed a switch of side from potatoes to excellent spinach BYO Excellent waitress Excellent fresh, warm bread Frequent coupons The crispy calamari salad($ 14) was a generous portion, but the calamari was only fair. The seafood fra diablo($ 29) sauce relied too much on heat and enough on flavor and the seafood itself was ok to good. There are some outdoor tables, but North Avenue is too busy to enjoy it very much. Tuesday through Thursday there is a 3 course $ 39 prix fixe – I am surprised more places do not try harder to fill midweek tables and lure in new customers. Prices are on the high side, but BYO helps a lot. I look forward to trying some other dishes.

Sorry, I can’t review the food quality. I am reviewing because I want to share my completely disappointing, anticlimactic experience. I had been wanting to try Limani for a while before actually booking a reservation. I finally booked a 6:15 table for last night using opentable. Leading up to Saturday, I was excited. On Saturday, I distracted myself from work by looking further into the restaurant. Finally, Saturday night comes; my wife and I park our car in Westfield; we walk to the restaurant. Walking up towards the restaurant, no joke, my wife and I thought that Limani does not show well from the outside. They could use a fresh coat of paint. Regardless, «let’s see what it’s like when we walk inside,» I said. There is nothing negative about the interior. Staff and décor are completely presentable. So, we check in and the manager/host(apparently the owner, sadly) wanted to place us right in front of the emergency exit. It was tight, so I asked for another table. He offered us a table that was even less pleasant, right up against a weight-bearing I-beam. Meanwhile, there are two 2-tops available and 4 or 54-tops available in the middle of the dining room. I politely asked if that was all that he had. He replied that there were a lot of reservations. I told him we needed to talk about it, and we pretty much walked out the door. I shared with him my disappointment as a first diner. He basically didn’t care. The owner had a few options, but chose the least client-friendly of them all, especially considering that I too was one of those reservations. Well, kudos to him, he lost a customer.

Really nice dinner spot. Good service, super fresh fish, and nice portions. Just enough without being overly stuffed after dinner. My fish has been cooked perfectly each time I’ve eaten here. Definitely pricey considering the atmosphere is pretty casual and its BYOB, but hey, it’s hard to find good seafood.

Good old fashion seafood spot. Good, Fresh, Seasoned well. Great service. Quiet. The entire restaurant centers around a kitchen with fish display – and its very comforting. To really appreciate this restaurant however, you have to consider your options in downtown Westfield. Aside from the two pizza spots in the town-ferrara’s [which mysteriously I mean very mysteriously burned down one night and was recently rebuilt] and cosmos [good slice joint turned family restaurant which is not as good] – there ain’t much to write home about. I would say this is probably, aside from the French restaurant next door – one of the best spots in town. I loved my horseradish encrusted salmon, soup, and clams casino. And a big plus, right next to train station. Def. going back.
