So sad to see this hidden gem close! I loved their fish tacos(so delicious). The ambiance of the place was very quaint and warm since it was on the smaller side. The staff was nothing but nice and welcoming.

Seriously one of the best low key fish restaurants I’ve been to. It’s another hidden gem. The place is small and cozy. Only a few tables and barstool seating. The owner is wonderful and really takes pride in the food he puts out. He is creative — always running daily soup and entrée specials on top of the classics that are always on the menu like the fish and chips which are always fantastic. I was bummed to hear that they will be closing this week. They will certainly be missed but will hopefully start a new venture that we can all follow to!

this is one of our family favorite«cheap and cheerful» alternatives to cooking. The fish and chips are great and so are the blackboard specials, and oyster po’boy.

2.5 stars — had the fish and chips. Fish batter is way too oily. There was oil dripping. The fish cod is ok. I feel so sleepy after eating only 3 fish and the french fries which was also over cooked. Service was good. Interior is ok. Price after tax was $ 12 and change.

I’ve only been once. Not the greatest. Food wasn’t amazing, service wasn’t too helpful and didn’t know the menu very well

Awesome cod and chips. Best fried clams I ever had. Chef is a cool friendly guy, too. I need to come back when they serve up fried scallops!

Try the signature sandwich. Very unpretentious, set in an anonymous strip mall in Garwood but always delicious. Tip: don’t sit near the front door in winter, you’ll freeze every time a new customer walks in.

Hands down best fish n chips we’ve had this far. Went there with the Bf first time with Groupon deal. Then second time with a gf fr late brunch + we brought wine to pair with the Cod. Perfectly battered cod, crispy on the outside, nice and juicy on the inside. And don’t get me started on the sauces they have! Must try all of them!

Fish tacos are great! You can get them fried or grilled depending on your mood and both were really good! The fish and chips is also really good and comes in a fairly large portion. Depending on how much you love fried things, the amount of batter can be a bit overwhelming. The fish and chips are good to share with someone else as a side! All sandwiches are good but are very heavy on the bread. The clam chowder was also not the best. It had imitation crab in it, which I’m not a fan of. Try to sit far from the door on a cold day bc every time someone comes in, a huge gust of very cold air blows in. Overall, great and cheap food!

Reasons to come here. 1. If you don’t like fish… they have fried Oreos… and they are divine. therefore in my opinion there is something for everyone here. 2. Their fish n chips are dee-effin-licious the Two piece basa with chips was actually a huge portion, I would have been fine with 1piece… but I’m fluffy so I fluffed up my order. 3. Customer service: They have this amazing sassy lady who takes your orders. I almost feel like I could go there just to tawlk gossip, but wouldn’t because she’d probably tell me about myself. 4. Tarter sauce is probably among the top 2 best I’ve ever had.

A really cute place with delicious food. The guys working there(we assumed one of them was the owner) were really helpful and friendly. The food was great — we got fish tacos and a fish sandwich, which were heavenly. The place is BYOB with a liquor shop around the corner, so we were able to grab some beers to enjoy with our fish. If you at all like fish tacos, you should give this place a try.

This is a small, quaint place but don’t let the unassuming exterior fool you; once you walk inside, the interior is decorated with assorted beach and fishing-related knick-knacks. The menu packs a surprisingly large variety and includes more than just seafood options — there are also daily specials, as well as daily promotions like 50% off soups, etc. My boyfriend and I ordered the Cod Fish and Chips as well as the special for that day, Crab Cakes with red pepper aioli. Though we ordered at the counter, we later learned that you can also choose to sit first and have your order taken. There’s minimal seating so I wouldn’t recommend eating in if you have more than 2 parties in your group. The food comes out fairly quickly and the portion size was decent. The crab cakes were nothing amazing; then again, I’m from Maryland and have been spoiled by the heaps of blue crabs there. My bf and I were surprised by how much we enjoyed the roasted veggies that came with the crab cakes, though. The fish was so juicy and flaky, and not overly greasy from being deep fried. The side of fries was DELICIOUS and the spicy tartar sauce was extremely addicting. I put it on everything… We finished off the meal with fried Oreos, which did not disappoint and were reminiscent of the ones I’ve had on various boardwalks. All in all, the meal was very good and the staff is friendly. Everything tastes really fresh, which is definitely how seafood should be prepared. My only gripe is that the prices seem mildly inflated($ 15 for 2 piece fish and chips + drink + cole slaw), but understandably so for quality seafood. Would come back again!

Had the 1-piece basa + fries combo. Was really worried it wouldn’t be enough for me. I was wrong — it was definitely more than enough food. The fish is really rich, fresh, and tasty, and the fries are perfectly seasoned. The tartar sauce doesn’t really have a kick to it so you’d have to cut the richness of the fish down with a lemon wedge or malt vinegar. I’ve heard that they also have lemon tartar sauce so I’ll definitely try that next time. Service was very friendly and casual. Laid-back atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back!

Food was decent. Staff is friendly. the fish was a little bit oily for my personal preference… their fish sandwich was good… nice piece of fish, tartar sauce, and a great piece of bread. Overall, good local place to get your fix of fish and chips.

It’s a little restaurant located in the westfield strip mall area. But when you walk in the ambience is welcoming and feels like you stepped into a little mom and pop store off the cape. I’ve come back here multiple times and have tried most of the menu. If this is your first time trying it out — definitely get the 2 piece combo. — you can order the cod or the basa and try it with the lemon tartar sauce! Yum! This is far best the best fish and chips spot in northern NJ.

Never knew about this place until my wife came across it on Unilocal. The good reviews are pretty spot on. Tight and cramped inside a strip mall; great food. Sat at the counter with the fam and the chef/owner recommended the fish tacos. They were awesome; full of flavor accompanied by a small dish of baked beans with a smokey barbecue flavor. I started off with a bowl of the seafood chowder which was full of clams and shrimp. Finished off dinner with an order of fried oreos; BANGIN’! So although the place is tiny with barely enough room for a table of 4, the food is terrific. I will reserve my five star rating for my return in the near future.
