I always look forward to coming back into town to eat here. Much different from «back in the day», but still great food, great price. You have to try the BBQ spare ribs, you won’t be disappointed. Used to be sit down, but looks like takeout only now?

One star is actually generous. This Was such a great place. Mary, the prior owner was just a pleasure. The food was wonderful and plentiful, but not any more. Everything has gone downhill. Too bad.

This is the sort of joint that gives Chinese food a bad rep. Loads of fried food buried in sugary syrups with no discernible flavor or texture. The worst of ‘merican Chinese take out. Hey, i understand this is western mass, where all you can find is chinese American that the locals think is what they eat in china! But even for that, this place rots. Any fresh veggie is cooked into oblivion and hidden in sugar and salt. The beef in beef and broccoli is b grade and chewy. The sauces are out of a jar and essentially log cabin syrup with a different flavor. The sushi consists of imitation crab meat with cucumber and a horrid instant Wasabi paste masquerading as a California role. The cleanliness is atrocious, with the walls and ceiling yellowed, the floors filthy, and food prep counters covered with packaging, raw ingredients, and dirty utensils. Problem is, China star is no different than any other Chinese food in westfield. I’d skip it all and just get a pizza.

A snowy night and I craved some take out. I remember going to China Star years ago and liked it, so I decided to go again. I didn’t realize it had been sold. I ordered Chicken Cashew and had an immediate off odor when I opened the container. Decided to trash the chicken and moved on to Vegetable Lo Mien. Lo Mien was so salty that after three bites I added it to the trash. Left with white rice and Chicken Fingers. Rice and chicken fingers were just o.k. Conclusion, I spent $ 18.00 and had to empty my trash early. I will search for a new Chinese take out place.

China Star is under new ownership (or management?) and it’s not as good as it used to be. I go to New Main Moon in Southwick now, which is on par with what China Star used to be. Whomp whomp.

The food is awesome!!! You can’t beat the amazing deal if you order the happy meal; not to mention it’s only $ 5!
