It’s pretty hard to screw up a dish with only two ingredients. but knowing how to serve it and knowing the definition of the dish separates the sublime from the ridiculous. An Affogato can be a sublime way to end an meal. By definition it is simply a scoop of vanilla gelato with a hot shot of espresso. Always poured at the table, preferably by the diner. You can imagine my surprise and disappointment when the Affogato ordered yesterday arrived as a scoop of ice cream with ice cold espresso poured over it… possibly hours earlier judging by the ice crystals/chunks in and around the ice cream. Stupid and lazy.

I visited this place for movie and a dinner and I was very pleased with the food and service I was given. I also went on a Monday night, and there is a BOGO for two pizzas. I got two pizzas and a salad for less than 30 bucks. No complaints here!

This is a decent place to get a meal! Definitely not authentic Italian, but they have good food. I don’t think it’s gourmet or anything fabulous, but the staff is friendly, the atmosphere is nice/clean, food is pretty fresh, and they have a nice presentation.

Disappointing food & quality, overall. The waiter’s «second day,» which is fine, since we all have to train — but better restaurants put someone experienced with a trainee. It showed. He was unfamiliar with wine pairing & recommendation. When told a desert was disappointing because it had raspberry in it(it was not a listed ingredient) he said he would come back with a new one — which he did, and which had raspberry in it. Pizza too greasy & salty, steak was dry and not particularly special. Between waiter and manager, far too many interruptions into our group of four conversation. Décor is good, parking solid, people are pleasant. Not a bad place, just not a notable experience.

I went here for a business lunch today and it surpassed my modest expectations. They had a fixed price three course lunch menu for $ 14.95 that most of our group of six opted for, and it was a good deal. You get an appetizer, soup, or salad, a main dish, and dessert. Portions were quite small but quality was very high, and the offerings went beyond the usual generic Italian restaurant suspects with some very traditional Tuscan offerings, like wild boar braised in red wine, and ribollita(meaning literally, reboiled in Italian) a hearty vegetable and chicken soup usually thickened with bread and mashed beans. I started out with a very good pickle soup(which is more Polish than Italian in origin) that sounded so intriguing I had to try it. It was savory and a bit tart, not unlike an Asian hot and sour soup. For the second course I had penne in a boscaiola sauce, a light cream sauce with pungent, flavorful mushrooms, ham, and garlic. One of my pet peeves is overcooked pasta and I was pleased to find this was cooked perfectly al dente. For dessert I had a classic tiramisu that was also quite good — though like all the desserts, it was really just a taste, served in a small glass with an espresso spoon. For lunch, though, it was a perfectly adequate amount of food overall. Service was fast, knowledgeable, and very pleasant. I’d definitely consider a return visit, particularly since my office is only ten minutes away.

Very nice atmosphere at this place. The wine wall when you first walk in sets the mood, but then you realize there is a bar to the left with TVs if that’s vibe you want, or a restaurant style section to the right. Well done on the set up here! The food was pricey and middle of the road. I got the veal saltimbocca half portion(which was $ 16) and if it wasn’t for the two baskets of bread on the table I would have left very hungry. My wife got a salmon salad and of course the salmon was overcooked as so many places do. And the up charge for the salmon is fine, but more than a 4 ounce portion would have been more in line with what we paid. Also it took an hour to get to us, but they were pretty busy on a Saturday night. I just wish the server had fired the food to accommodate for the fact that half the table ordered apps and the other did not. The server was ok, did what she had to, but nothing passed that. Probably would not go back here based on the price and not being really impressed by the meals.

My wife and a friend just returned from Tavolino’s…they decided to give it another try and this is their review. The service once again was excellent. Mallory was attentive and knowlegeable about the menu. The meatball appetizer was really good as well as the Mediterranean salad. The favorite was the chicken picatta, cooked perfectly and delicious. They also loved the house Pinot Noir! It was well worth the second chance! We are all going back for the pizza!

This is our go-to place to sit at the bar and grab a casual dinner and drinks. The pizza is amazing and bar service is usually fantastic. We also hosted a larger party here on a Sunday afternoon and the service and food was great.

Eaten here four times, have not left disappointed. It is tasty and well priced with fairly good service. The pizza is good and on Mondays there is a two for one deal. Our favorites have been the bolognese, wild boar gnocchi, and happy hour.

My family and I had an absolutely wonderful dining experience here. The bread was warm and crispy, served with olive oil and spices for dipping. My son, usually a fussy eater, ate every bit of his chicken parm. I had the butternut squash filled ravioli, easily my new favorite. All of the dinners were delicious. The server, Desiree, was attentive and knowledgeable. She made great suggestions for the drinks and was able to answer all of our questions. We especially liked it is a «scratch» kitchen and they even use local honey. We will definitely be back.

We have been coming here since they opened. Tonight I was in the mood for simple traditional Italian. Eggplant parm. It was so generic and so store made that I might have well bought something frozen and microwaved my dinner. The pasta was definitely out of a box. The marinara tasted tinny and the eggplant was deep fried in old oil. I’m done. Sorry tavalino. You finally lost my business. The staff was nice so that’s why you get a two star instead of one.

This place is one of my favorites! Awesome atmosphere and a really creative menu. Large wine selection and delicious homemade bread. Everything I have ordered is something I would come back for. I especially love the sweet potato gnocchi, steak and fire-grilled pizzas.

Tried this restaurant for lunch and was very disappointed. I had the Mediterranean salad with an addition of grilled chicken. The salad was meager and the chicken was a small portion as well. I paid over $ 23 with the tip and tax for a very mediocre lunch. Basically I had a lot of romaine! I often try a restaurant for lunch to see if I want to return for dinner and based on this meal we will not be returning.

Erratic and weak service. Forgot to ask if we wanted appetizers. Didn’t inform us for 30′ that one of the appetizers was no longer available. Gluten free bread arrived 45′ into meal after initially being told 10′. Main courses were forgettable, nothing we couldn’t prepare at home of equal or superior quality. Wine list was decent and up charges quite fair. But the wine wasn’t enough to offset a forgettable meal in an unremarkable but noisy atmosphere. Was much better when we were here a year ago. But with so many missing points of service and food quality, they are not worth a retry.

I have never had a bad(or even mediocre for that matter) meal at Tavolinos. The food is creative and delicious and the staff is friendly and efficient. The Prosciutto and Fig pizza(ask them to toss on some spiced or candied walnuts) is amazing! The Roasted Beet Salad is perfectly balanced. Bistecca is perfectly prepared as are all the dishes. The prix menu is a great way to try several things, and in my opinion a deal. Cocktails are creative and satisfying. They also offer take home family dinners that I look forward to trying it some hectic night. Save room, as with everything else, desserts are yummy too!

This place is amazing! I sat at the bar last night and I tried the«mocktail». My suggestion to everyone is please try the mocktail. It is sooooo good. I literally drank it within 2 minutes. The best part is that it’s nonalcoholic so everyone can have them. For my meal, I had the wild boar. I really liked it. I can’t wait to try more food. I highly suggest Tavolinos if you are a person who loves high quality food for perfect prices

This review is of the bathroom. I know, how many times have your read Unilocal reviews, and see a bathroom review? We were @ Tav on Valentines day for dinner. I just want to say this is the first restaurant I have been to in a while that has a properly laid out bathroom. Its possible to wash your hands, dry them with paper towels, use the paper towel to open the bathroom door without touching it, and throw the paper towel out. Normally the trash cans in bathrooms(if they even have them — because of the hot air issue), are not right next to the door. So here, its possible to actually leave the bathroom without having to touch the inside door handle(and thus have clean hands.) The service was slow but we ate at one of the bar booths, and the bartender was busy. They(she?) messed up two of our orders, but gave us one free to make it right.

Food was OK, nothing special. The service was exceptional though. While it took awhile to get the food, the man holding down the bar was extremely polite and attentive. It’s pretty pricey for what you get, so I probably won’t be coming back.

Good service, friendly atmosphere. Our waiter Chris was efficient and very polite. The Caesar salad was excellent, but the crust of the gluten free pizza fell flat of being good. The molten cake was great.
