This is some of the best, authentic Mexican food we have had in Salt Lake. Everything we ordered was amazing. Would highly recommend the horchata to drink and the huaraches with carnitas pork.

My family takes me out to eat here every time I’m in town, its good compared to the other authentic Mexican food restaurants I’ve tried. From my families point of view the people who work there are nice and the prices are decent! Theres a few reasons I’m giving it 4 stars and not 5… 1. Its always cold inside the restaurant while it was snowing outside. 2. I can’t stand when people automatically assume I’m hispanic and start a conversation with me in Spanish. Every time I’ve ate here thats what happens and the waitress doesn’t speak english so my family has to translate and blah blah blah. It’s annoying. and 3. There will ALWAYS be a creepy customer, who’s clearly sitting with his gf/wife/significant other who will constantly stare at you like you’re the main course. I have even ate here in pajamas and no make up but never fails theres at least one guy who’s making you feel like you should zip your hoodie up to your neck.

Thanks to local Unilocalers who turned us on to this«mas authentica» joint. We were the only ones in the joint who spoke English and even had to order in our broken Spanglish. The food was great, portions massive and cheap, cheap, cheap!

When I get a craving for authentic Mexican I head here. The service is good, the price is right, the foods legit, and I love being the only gringo at the spot… but I have seen more lately. Everything I have had has been great. I look forward to expanding out of the normal and trying there other awesome dishes. Can’t wait to return

To be honest, I only frequent this place because my man friend is obsessed. I would normally never go out of my way to get tacos, but they are admittedly VERY good and VERY cheap. I usually get tongue and al pastor gorditas, which is a fluffier taco shell… kind of reminds me of a pita. I’m sure any Mexican would roll their eyes at my description, but it’s delicious! Included the meat of choice, refried beans, lettuce, and cheese. Comes with a side of grilled jalapeño and grilled onions. They also have an impressive station full of salsas, limes, pico, etc. BEST bang for your buck, if you don’t mind the fact that nobody speaks English and it’s in the middle of nowhere. Every time I go, we are the only non-Mexicans, which is a great sign of authenticity if you ask me! Oh, and it’s sit down service, which I found pleasantly surprising for this type of place.

Cheap, good salsa bar, nice people. The food, however, was just okay. Got a couple burritos and mine had more gristle than meat.

I’m here working, from out of town(West Coast) and felt like having a nice soup with this cold weather. Menudo is always a good look. I happened in on this place and it’s pretty good. Had the Menudo and they got all the fixings handy. Service was quick too. Only down side, I would have liked to have a beer but they don’t sell any. Oh well.

This place is awesome. Ham torta is a smash hit of salty semi-greasy goodness, make sure to hit it with some hot sauce.

Authentic Mexican along Redwood Road I am a fan of authentic Mexican food. You know the places: where most of your fellow diners are Mexican and it sure helps if you know how to read and speak Spanish. This place is real good — typical menu made by some Mexican ladies that know how to cook. They don’t give complementary chips & salsa. Soda comes in cans/bottles. Menudo is served daily. I am a fan of El Calor Taqueria.

Best fish octopus soup to date. This may be the best mexican place in the valley. This place is smaill but the food is the best. I had the octopus soup and it was awesome. Octopus cooked perfectly. Soup full of shrimp, carrots, The tacos and sauces were perfect also. This is authentic and the prices are VERY reasonable. Service great too. Don’t sit in the booth near the TV. It is a little loud.

Order la lengua tacos, the best taco by far at this place. Also, enjoy the WWF on tv while you eat… Also, I was the only gringo… well, Japanese American there.

The tacos were good, but it was so noisy I didn’t enjoy my meal at all, and I left there all stressed out. The TV was blaring a Mexican soap opera. There was some illuminated nature scene that played an endless loop of a waterfall sound and birds chirping loudly. All that on top of the sound of traffic from Redwood road and I wanted to shoot myself in the head. I told the owner, but he said he liked it that way(he may not have understood me). I won’t be going back.

I’ve been there a couple of times now. The food was consistently good. It’s a small place with no frills and possibly intimidating for someone not used to authentic Mexican food(and service), but it is well worth it. The last thing I got were tacos. They will ask you if you would like beans on them and I recommend it.

Was driving by this place and decided to stop in. Feels very authentic, the food was awesome, had super nachos(which I’ve had many many places) — these were truly super nachos. The pork was ridiculously good on them(had a choice of meats to put on it). Also had some chile rellenos, which came with home-made corn tortillas, which were excellent. Not a lot of english spoken, but that wasn’t really an issue for us – but it might be if you are a super picky person who needs your order just so…
