They will not uninstall their equipment. I’m moving, and my landlord does not want the alarm system left in the unit. ADT says they will install new equipment in my new unit, but they will not take away their equipment in the old one. They said to call an electrician to do it. All the electricians I’ve spoken with said that they cannot do it, because it’s specifically ADT equipment that they don’t have the tools for. I’m going around in circles!

Don’t do it! Dan came to our new house where an ADT system had just been installed a year prior. He told us it was outdated, charged $ 200, and had service guys come out. They told us — AFTER REMOVING OUR SYSTEM — that it was unnecessary. THEN it began. The alarm went off CONSTANTLY. They don’t give you a manual. We asked and found one online. They sent a guy out who said the creepiest thing to me when I was home alone with him about getting a gun or I’d never be safe. WTF?! FINALLY they sent a very nice older gentleman who fixed the problem AND taught us how to use the different settings. THIS TOOK MONTHS OF OUR LIVES! And the neighbors certainly didn’t enjoy our alarm going off multiple times a night.
Just don’t. Like their crazy installation guy would tell you, you’re better off with a gun.
