Went In for the first time. Although a big fan of the truck, the cubana I got today was lackluster at best(especially for the price). Because I was such a fan of the food truck I may give them another try, but the ambiance is that of a second rate food court and not very appealing. Chalk it up to growing pains, but I am hoping things get better.

First of all, I never had a chance to try Wicked ‘Wich in its previous incarnations, so I won’t try to make any comparisons or allusions to past glory. This review is for the brick-and-mortar location in West Sacramento, inside the West Sacramento Community Center. This location opened on March 4, 2015; I had lunch there on March 6. I ordered the Barros Luco sandwich, and also picked up a Silk Road cucumber-mint soda from the refrigerated case. The sandwich was delicious – a bit spicy(from the roasted Fresno aioli) and piquant(from the chimichurri), with a satisfying crunch from the grilled French roll. The beef was on the rarer side of medium rare, which I like, though it did make it a little difficult to take a bite without pulling the rest of the meat out of the sandwich. So what’s keeping me from giving Wicked ‘Wich that fifth star? I feel like at this point they still have some kinks to work out of the ordering process. There were only two people ahead of me when I arrived, but it took several minutes for me to get to the front of the line. Once I placed my order, it took a reasonable amount of time be prepared – but in the meantime, I watched the line to order get longer and longer. Since it was only their third day of business, I’m sure they’ll get this worked out soon. I also thought the food was a bit on the expensive side. It was good, and I’ll be back, but $ 8 – 11 for a sandwich with no sides is is going to have to be an occasional indulgence. Those issues aside, Wicked ‘Wich is a good addition to West Sacramento’s lunch options.
