You eat and learn. I ate breakfast here and learned that I would rather eat at Serrano’s Café across the street. I enjoyed the 50’s diner atmosphere, but it made the place seem a little on the dirty side(worn out furniture, dust sticking to grease, etc). The friendly servers were on their A game. While we were waiting for almost a ½ hour for the rest of our party to arrive, she kept checking on us and refilling my coffee. Right when our friends sat down, she made her way over and got their drinks right away. The good and attentive service never stopped from there(extra star). My only gripe would be that we were charged $ 0.75 extra for a side of pico de gallo, but weren’t told of the added cost. That bugs me. I should have taken advantage of the weekday breakfast specials($ 1.99 or $ 3.99), since I would never normally be in that area during the work week, but the avocado, mushroom, swiss omelette(actually on special also for $ 6.99) was calling my name. Of course I added bacon($ 1) and pico de gallo($ 0.75). The omelette was delicious. The hashbrowns were not good. I asked for extra crispy, which they got right, but all it consisted of was the crunchy top layer of the hashbrown. Where’s the rest of it? I think you got more potato from a McDonald’s hashbrown. My bf ordered the rib eye steak and eggs($ 11.99), which looked more like a strip steak and was a little dry and chewy. The country potatoes, or home fries, were plain and boring. I’d say it was a pretty overpriced diner meal for what you actually got. My friends ordered the $ 3.99 breakfast special, which consisted of 2 eggs, 1 meat, and 1 potato or pancake. That seemed like a better choice for the money. Unfortunately, I probably won’t be returning to Nick’s since I know I can get a better quality breakfast at a better value at Serrano’s Café across the street.

My Father’s day treat was my worst lunch experience everr. It started out great, with a «Free Mimosa for Dad’s» sign. Yay! Except they ran out of champagne and left the sign up, and offered to replace it with — nothing. We had breakfasts and lunches, which were generally good. The waitress, after pouring 2⁄3 cup of coffee, didn’t return until after we were done eating, and I waved the white flag(paper napkin) ten times over my head for coffee. My rib eye steak and eggs had tasty hash browns and eggs, but incredibly, the half-inch thick steak was purple raw in the middle(ordered medium-rare). I ate it, because it was tender and I don’t send stuff back to the kitchen and the waitress was gone. Now I feel sick. The manager, informed of the raw steak, said, «well was everything else okay?» When I said the waitress had abandoned us, she asked if we wanted anything else. No apology. Unbelievable. I tried to leave feedback on their website, but got a 404 error. Nice. Oh, and the whole family got food poisoning, we were guessing from the lemon slices, the only common item

I had the t-bone steak and eggs for $ 12’49. The portions were horrible, and the cut of meat pathetic. The hash Brown’s seemed to be cut off a pizza. The second star is for the service only.

Road trip. Brunch options. McDonald’s? Denny’s? IHOP? Or choose a mom and pop diner? I opted to go local. Great food, fast service, decent prices for a Sunday morning brunch. I ordered the French toast combo with a side of eggs over easy and bacon. I wish the bacon was crispier, but next time I’ll make sure to speak up and ask for it extra crispy. Coffee was delicious and all the waitresses were happy and singing along to the oldies. It was obvious that they knew a lot of the regulars here, so that was nice.

Went here because I had an entertainment book coupon. It is a cheaper version of Mels Diner. Old 50’s theme with juke boxes on the table. I ordered the french dip and while it was nothing special, it was only $ 6.99 and that included fries. The milkshake was delicious and thick. I would go again just to try something else on their vast menu. I say go for value and atmosphere rather than high quality rich food.

Great food and great prices! 3.99 for two eggs, two bacon, hash browns, and french toast or pancakes. You can’t beat it! I will definitely return, i wish this place wasn’t in West Sac, but hey its got my business.

I would give this place 5 stars, but there was just a bit lacking on my sandwich. My almost delicious french dip sandwich. The thing that’s cool about this place is it is old school, like from the 50’s! Similar to Mel’s Diner, this place has the old school jukeboxes that play only oldies music, and they have the little song selectors at the tables too! Just plop in a quarter and make a selection! Sadly– they were broken the day we went. I had been here before, and remembered that they had cheap prices and good portions+ tasty food. I was not disappointed with the prices, or the portions on this trip, but a little with the food itself. My boyfriends scramble was a little bland. Could have used some salt and pepper when cooked, not for us to add on top. Also, my french dip that I was ordering for breakfast was a little… flat. The Au jus, similar to the eggs, bland. Needed something to spruce it up! I added pepper to mine. Could have used some carrots and onions in the cooking process to add some UMPH! Despite the broken jukebox and semi bland food, I shall return. Why? Because they have HASHBROWNS!!! I hate country potatoes, and they are always offered instead of the HB. So happy to come back for 2 fried eggs, hash brown and toast!!!

I ordered food via phone for pick up and the waitress was not only pleasant, but attentive and repeated my order as well as telling me the orders total. When i arrived Nick’s was very clean and VERY packed, but the waitress was super friendly and attentive. I ordered a strawberry shake as an impulse purchase and they gave me a whole shake as well as another cup with the left overs, so basically I had a large and small strawberry shake! This place ROCKS! REASONABLEPRICES!

Damn good prices! Über-nice staff; food was hot and fresh and plentiful, and came out quickly. Also got free pudding! Yay! We’ll keep coming back here… a little gem in West Sac! P. S. I love, love, LOVE their bacon, mushroom, swiss omelet with hash browns. The BEST!

My friend and I came here on a whim. I had the Patty melt, it was decent. I could tell the Hamburger was a frozen patty by the perfectly round shape. The overall taste was good though but I wasnt a huge fan of the fries, a little under cooked. The wait staff all were over the top friendly. I think next time, breakfast would be the way to go!

Great place to eat! Nick’s is a fun and comfortable place to eat. When I’m in the mood for diner food, this is my first choice. I heartily recommend the chili cheese omelette; totally comfort food in my book! The staff is consistently happy and friendly — eat here more than twice and they’ll have your eating preferences, if not your entire order memorized. Crazy! Nick’s is scrupulously clean and service is consistently great. Support West Sacramento with your dining dollars!

I went to go pick up the mail from my post box at the UPS store this morning, and saw this little diner right next door. The breakfast special is awesome! So much wonderful comfort food. The waitress was really friendly, she greeted a lot of people by name that she knew. What a sweet spot. This is the classic american restaurant. It’s on a crazy busy intersection, but I felt like I was in a small town. Absolutely wonderful!

I have to say, no where else in West Sac can I find liver and onions on demand! I know, that’s not most folks favorite, but I enjoy it, but hate cooking it. I went to Nick’s, order it, and found it’s just as good as if I cooked it at home. I mostly go to Nick’s when my other favorite spot is closed. I’ve never been for breakfast, mostly late lunch and early dinner. I find the service is good, the food is good, and it’s just a great diner to go get the much needed comfort food. It certainly is a far cry from the canned stuff you’d get at one of those chain restaurants.

Cute little diner with a 50’s feel, and super nice waitresses. Not a bad breakfast on the cheap side! Hubby enjoyed his eggs Benedict and my classic combo was good. There are always coupons in the penny saver for buy one get one and their weekday specials can’t be beat.

Like most of the other reviewers have said already, it’s diner food. Nothing too special. The prices are actually quite reasonable. I always get one of their omletes since that seems to alway be a safe bet. My waitress, although very friendly, was a little bit on the strange side. I would be sitting there eating my omelete listening to a song on the jukebox, when all of a sudden she’s standing right next to my table and singing at the top of her lungs. Apparently she thought it was cute to sing along, which it wasn’t. Hence the two star deduction. I don’t mind silliness but only when it’s appropriate. And when you see people on their cell phones, or engaged in conversation with other people, singing is definitely not a good idea. Waiting on tables and doing your job, is.

This little diner has good midweek breakfast and lunch specials. For the light eater, there’s the $ 1.99 special: 2 eggs and toast. I’ve had the $ 3.99 breakfast special, which includes 2 eggs, hash browns, bacon or sausage, and your choice of pancakes, a half waffle, or french toast. The food isn’t anything special, but it’s decent diner food for an economical price. The breakfasts aren’t greasy, and the service is prompt and friendly.
