Even after my friend applied his 40% off employee discount(which he is allowed to do), I still paid just under $ 50 for a Chevy Impala for less than one day without getting sucked into buying any of the extra crap. This seems on par with what I would have paid at full cost at other car rental services. The problems I encountered were three fold: 1) Upon departing the gate, I was told I had to park so the attendant indoors could swipe my credit card since I was a first time customer. Why couldn’t this be done at the gate? 2) The wait to have my card swiped was about 10 – 15 minutes. In fairness, the time was after midnight and there was only one employee working the counter. In even more fairness, she was pleasant. 3) There was no EZPass(SunPass) tag in the vehicle. I exited at a SunPass only exit(no cash) without realizing there was no tag in the window. Now I’m just waiting for Hertz to send me the ticket, or worse, just charge the fine to my credit card. At least the bus was right out in front of the passenger pick-up and finding the car was a breeze. They already had the keys in the ignition and e-mailed me the vehicle details and parking space number before I landed.
