This is the best place for yoga! It’s a beautiful studio with expert teachers — I have done a couple of workshops there(reiki and yoga nidra) and they were brilliant. It is inside the grand Wiltshire hotel and has free parking. Their philosophy is ‘yoga is for anybody’ and it’s true, the instructors are friendly and accommodate you.

They offer a wonderful and flexible 200-hour training program(and now a 500-hour training). It’s set up so people can maintain jobs and/or school with minimal disruption. The instructors are knowledgeable, helpful, and compassionate when guiding students. The content of the training runs deep without being a weird overly religious type of yoga I’ve experienced in other schools. The classes for the community outside of the teacher training program are high quality. I’m glad I trained with Claire, Jennifer, and their students at the American Yoga Academy. Thanks!

While the staff here are friendly, I would not recommend this program to anyone who wants a rigorous and thorough yoga teacher training program. The curriculum is extremely disorganized and I graduated with very little knowledge of how to actually teach yoga. It all just seemed… watered down. Even though the program is marketed as 300 hours, the vast majority of your time is spent studying at home… you end up spending about 10 Sundays listening to lectures and attending a few yoga and meditation classes, and then you’re pretty much on your own. If you are looking for a sampler sort of introduction to yoga or a program that is not too physically demanding, then the American Yoga Academy might be a good choice for you. I personally wish I had chosen a different program.

While I’m only halfway through my program, the changes to my life thus far have been drastic. People who love me see, and I feel, and I am coming around to the fact that I am. The American Yoga Academy takes a person and makes them a yogi, an enlightened being capable of freedom. The feeling of «free» starts off temporary, but real, and as yoga becomes a reality the feeling becomes more permanent. The soft, good-hearted teaching at the AYA let it happen quickly for me. Granted, I went into it understanding what yoga claimed to offer, hoping for it, but never did I, would I, could I imagine it to be all that it is. Thank you AYA, my appreciation is endless.

This program is low quality. The materials are just as good as ones you can find off the internet for free and the teachers are not specialized in the areas that they are teaching. The owner is all about business as she does not practice what she preaches. She claims you can do a work study, but she treats you like her personal assistant. I have no deeper understanding of yoga or the postures from taking this teacher training. It is expected that all the teachers teach the same class in the same way.
