Been here a few times, and the food has always been good. We’ve never had an issue with service– all our wait staff have always been friendly. It’s nice to sit outside on a nice day. Last night I went and had one of their«special» drinks– the cucumber Collins. It was $ 9.00! This drink should not have been 9 bucks. It didn’t even have the muddled cucumber in it like the menu described. I will say it was really good, but I won’t order mixed drinks here again for that amount.

Given what this building has been in the past, this little tavern is a welcome improvement. They’ve really put in some effort fixing the place up and expanding, and the bar design does a great job of making common ingredients look impressive. It’s too bad that the staff is unwelcoming, and the atmosphere clearly projects that the bar regulars run the show. I was first here for a baby shower, a friend of mine had rented the tiny venue and it made a perfect setting for the kind of event they had planned. The owner was present and did the catering and I remember eating but can’t recall just what we had, so it mustn’t have been memorable, however I know I had about a dozen beautiful chocolate covered strawberries that afternoon, so i did leave happy, and the ongoing efforts to improve the place drew us to try it again for dinner a few months later. We had to seat ourselves, which is fine by me as long as they would have made it known we were to do so. Hopefully they’ve got some signage or a hostess since then. Our server was either new or just terribly busy, it took her a while to get to us but the bartender came out and took our drink order in the mean time. Don’t expect an interesting variety of drafts, or any knowledge of the bottle selection from the bartender — his recommendation was a blue moon. Started with appetizers — she had the sweet potato fries and I ordered«premium draft beer battered» onion rings. Immediately we recognized the familiar frozen/fried food served by many of the area restaurants, we should have gone for the cheaper prices down the street at the ranch house, at least the elderly patrons there are friendly, lol. Still optimistic, we ordered dinner. I had the special, some kind of steak-um like«french dip,» the au ju was tasty, but my roll was horribly burnt. She had their«signature» bacon bbq bourbon something something flatbread. Unfortunately, the entrée was of the same subpar Sysco quality, prepared negligently. So we left full, but weary of the food poisoning we’d surely endure. Though I’m willing to bet this place will be a hit among the local crowd, I don’t think we’ll be dining their again. If you’re looking for a dive with grumpy regulars and greasy munchies, you’re almost better off venturing a little further down 422 to Victor’s Café, unless you mind the smoke, than stick with The Tavern on Penn.

The waitress was not friendly. The beer list was a huge disappointment. Was overcharged on my card and never notified. The shrimp platter was at least good… But how hard is fried food

This is a go to spot for me and my wife. Very good food and excellent service. The beef dip is my favorite item on the menu. One of the best I’ve ever had. We always request Ashley, she is great.

Great bar atmosphere, excellent beer selection, and the staff was top notch. Burger was solid and fries were above average. Nice outdoor seating and ample parking. Will definitely return. Easily became my favorite place to go for beers in town

Fantastic burger and house made potato chips. Warm and comfortable inside with a great patio. We ate outside and enjoyed the atmosphere. Marissa made great recommendations. So glad we finally got a chance to visit!

Great neighborhood pub! Awesome beer selection. The food is really getting great as they have a decent chef. The regular menu is standard bar fare done well. The specials are really a great addition. Love this place !

This place sucks! Plain and simple, rude bartender, lousy cook, and derelict owner. The bartender laughed at me when I asked her to have my steak med. Well. It came out raw. Then, in the kitchen, she picked her nose. Disgusting! Came out with my salad a 2nd time and expected me to eat it? Learn how to run a bar. This is a wake up call to the owner, you figure with this many bad reviews she would do something about it! 10 – 1 you won’t see this bar open this time around next year. Best of luck to your next job shoveling mule shit, treat customers a little better!

Noisy. There were more kids than adults in the place. If I want to eat in Romper Room I’ll go to Chuck e cheese. I thought taverns were for adults and mc Donald’s was for children. I couldn’t enjoy my food with all the commotion and unfortunately will not go back.

Nice little spot for the regulars. But for anyone else? Well, maybe not so much. On my most recent visit, the one waitress on duty had four tables. Each one she knew personally. That’s all fine and dandy, but not when it means neglecting the non-regulars. My party didn’t really feel welcome, which was a shame, since I thought the food was right on par with other dives in the area. If you’re a server, I don’t mind if you talk to your regulars and make them feel welcome. I totally get that. But when mingling with them totally consumes you and means that your other tables have a worse experience because of it — well, that’s just not how you welcome new patrons. I live in the area, but I don’t think I’ll be back any time soon and get that«regular status.» It just doesn’t seem like it’s worth the repeated trips of mediocre service. To anyone thinking of stopping in — quick tip: there are two entrances. There is one in the back leading from the parking lot. My group thought this was the main entrance, since it was closest to the parking lot. WRONG! After we walked in, we kind of just stood around waiting for a hostess to approach us, or someone, ANYONE to greet us. Yeah, that never happened. My advice — either park and walk all the way around the building and enter through the other entrance or simply walk through the back and seat yourself. I understand seating yourself is a HUGE pet peeve amongst servers, but if they aren’t going to take the time to great you and tell you to either wait or take a seat, then by all means, grab an open table and just try to enjoy yourself.

Amazing pub! Draft craft beers always changing and bottles are well selected. Super tasty weekly meal and app selections along with a full menu to choose from. Have been here multiple times and have not found anywhere yet that compares to their beer selection. Bartender/beer connoisseur Travis is the best!

After a night of fun had at a wedding while in this area, we were not ready to call it a night. And with the hour it was, we were kind of limited at finding a place to get our fix for a six. Not being from the area was not much help either, so we aimlessly drove around until we basically just pulled into a parking lot and this place was there. We weren’t sure if they even sold six packs to go, but that didn’t stop us from walking in here. It’s not very big on the inside, there is a full bar and a small seating area off to the left of it as you walk in the door. Even though it was small, people were everywhere. It was surprisingly crowded. I walked up to the bar, asked the bartender if they sold six packs to go and was delighted to hear that they did. And the price was great! Cheaper than what I can find in Pittsburgh. If I didn’t have to get back with what I had, I would have probably sat down and enjoyed a few there. It sure seemed like everyone was having some fun here.
